The single mum-of-two revealed last month she has given up sex for good and now she has revealed the reason behind her choice.
Speaking to Mail Online, Jess believes sex is a "pointless activity" if a person is not in a loving relationship.
And despite giving the impression on Love Island that she was "sex-obsessed", Jess said this couldn't be further from the truth.
"I'm just not interested unless I really connect with a guy," she explained to the publication.
Jess added: "I'm not having any, and I don't miss it. I don't want it. It could be years before I have it again, who knows.
"I'm not into one-night stands and, believe it or not, I never have been."
Jess won the first ever series of Love Island alongside Max Morley in 2015.
She worked in a bank at the time and chose to share the £50,000 prize money with Max.
The couple appeared smitten and had quickly won over the hearts of the nation.
But just six weeks after their triumph, the winners dramatically split when Max was caught spending the night with Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby.
I won the first ever Love Island but the fall out from my instant fame was so brutal I've given up sex for good, says Jessica Hayes
Looking back, Jess has now accused professional cricket player Max of deliberately "targeting" her.
Max had entered the villa as a late bombshell and Jess believes it gave him time to clock how popular she was with viewers.
Telling the Mail she is "annoyed" they split the money, Jess added: "So, I do feel he targeted me but, as I say, I was young and naive."
Jess was just 22 when she won Love Island and afterwards she threw herself into a lifestyle of wild partying.
But three years later, she "hit rock bottom".

Jess struggled with her new-found fame and began questioning the direction her life was going in.
Speaking to The Sun On Sunday last month, Jess said: 'I remember feeling very lost and thinking, what now?
"You go out a lot and party a lot and sometimes it can be to excess and that's not good for you.
"You come out of a show and you're a celebrity and no one says, 'This might only last five minutes'.
'I didn't have good guidance or good management and that didn't help me take the right path.
'There were points where I thought, what the hell am I doing?"
Jess is now a devoted mum of two children, five-year-old son Presley and daughter Zendaya Rose, one.
The relationships with both of her kids' dads broke down and she is now a single mum.
However, Jess said: 'I couldn't ask for more from my children's dads.
'They are in their lives and they are good with them."
She added: 'I'm not materialistic at all now and I think that having children, your priorities change.
'And if my daughter tells me she wants to apply for Love Island in 20 years time I will tell her, 'No way — not unless I'm your manager'.'

Coronation Street star in shock comeback months after quitting cobbles – and will clash with love rival

CORONATION Street is bringing back a fan-favourite character for a long stint this summer - and she's already started filming. The ITV soap has tempted scene-stealer Amy Robbins to reprise her role as Christina Boyd for a major new storyline. 2 Amy Robbins is returning to Coronation Street Credit: Rex 2 Christina will be back on the cobbles later this summer - but without daughter Daisy Credit: ITV Actress Amy made her apparently final exit as the nightmare mother of former Rovers barmaid Daisy Midgeley earlier this year as part of Daisy's exit storyline. But now The Sun can exclusively reveal that Amy is back playing Christina once again - and she'll be back on screen soon. A source said: 'Amy is back and has returned to filming. 'Obviously with Charlotte leaving it would have been easy to think you'd never see her again but the character is so juicy that everyone jumped at the chance to have her back. 'Christina will be back to her usual tricks causing chaos on the cobbles. 'There's going to be some incredible scenes with her and Jenny clashing. 'And this time she's back for a long stint. She returned to filming recently and she'll be back on screen later this summer. 'It's definitely going to be explosive.' Christina was last seen on the cobbles in May when her daughter Daisy got the better of her and took Jenny Connor's money for herself. While Daisy is now living the life of riley abroad on the cash, Christina was left penniless after trying to double-cross her daughter. Coronation Street's Christina curses Daisy's wedding by inviting bullies And she'll be back in Weatherfield to come face to face with Jenny once more. But who will come out on top between the battle of the Rovers icons? Coronation Street has been contacted for comment.
