VCU holds off George Mason 68-63 to claim Atlantic 10 title and NCAA berth
VCU led by eight at the break, 36-28, but George Mason got back-to-back 3-pointers from Jared Billups and Woody Newton to trail by just two, 45-43 with more than 12 minutes to play. Shulga answered with a 3 and hit a pair of free throws before finding Jack Clark for a 3 to push the VCU lead to 53-43.
Darius Maddox hit a 3 with 2:27 left to get the Patriots within one at 59-58. Coming out of a timeout, Shulga held the ball at the top of the key, then calmly knocked down a step-back 3 with 1:59 left. Jalen Haynes' layup with 39 seconds left got George Mason within 3 but Zach Anderson missed a 3-pointer with :04 left and Newton was forced to foul Bamisile with a half-second left.
Bamisile and Jack Clark each scored 17 points for VCU (28-6). Shulga, the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, hit 8 of 9 from the line as the Rams converted 22 of 27.
Haynes led George Mason (26-8) with 17 points and eight rebounds. Maddox had 12 points to go with three steals and Anderson and Brayden O'Connor each added 10 points.
Virginia Commonwealth and George Mason finished the regular season tied for the regular season championship with 15-3 records. The Rams reached the conference championship game for the ninth time since joining the A-10 in 2012-13.

Donald's stalker has harassed him for years and believes she's married to him, even threatening his children Former Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald filed a restraining order against a stalker back in April after he received harassing messages for years from a woman who claimed to be his wife. That order was granted by a judge in May, and on Wednesday, The Athletic's Nathan Fenno published a story about Donald's stalker with additional details of her actions, which left Donald fearing for his safety. According to The Athletic, Donald's stalker, Janelle Anwar, 'sent him increasingly unsettling emails, chats and voice memos in addition to repeated phone calls' and sent numerous emails to Donald's brother. Anwar also had balloons and Amazon packages delivered to Donald's children and visited the former Rams star's football camp in Pittsburgh. In the filing by Donald, he feared for the safety of himself and his family after Anwar made threats against his son. Two weeks before the emailed performance review, Anwar sent a series of Google Chat messages that Donald took as threats against his 3-year-old son: 'So make sure you pay for (him) to live … Cause that's what it will be … You will have to pay for his life now and everyone will get a cut …' Even after having a restraining order filed against her, Anwar's pursuits did not stop. Claiming to be Donald's wife, he wanted to have his children's DNA tested, and also planned to subpoena 50 NFL players to see if they knew her as a 'spiritual guru.' She even alleged that Rams players broke into her home in L.A. and left a sock that belonged to Sean McVay. Donald's application for a restraining order in April didn't appear to give Anwar pause. Her responsive declaration filed a few days later sought to subpoena 50 NFL players — the suggested queries included whether they knew of her as a 'Spiritual Guru' — in addition to DNA testing for the Donald children. She wanted a handwriting expert to examine Donald's signature on the application. She suggested Rams players broke into her southwest L.A. home as a prank and left a sock belonging to coach Sean McVay — she wanted it tested for DNA, too. Anwar used at least nine email addresses to contact Donald, though he repeatedly blocked those accounts, as well as phone numbers she used. These messages began in 2020 and continued for years, leading Donald to file for the restraining order. The five-year restraining order prohibits Anwar from contacting Donald and his family, and she's also ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from the Donalds, their homes, cars and workplaces.

Cowboys 2025 training camp: Dak Prescott looks regular-season ready
After dropping their preseason opener to the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night, the Dallas Cowboys were back in action Tuesday afternoon, conducting their 14th training camp practice. With just two practices left before the team breaks camp on Thursday, these two days may be the best chance for players on the bubble of making the roster to prove why they should make the final 53. These final practices aren't just a chance for players on the outside looking in to make an impact, they are also a chance for Dallas' stars to start locking in and get regular-season ready. In Tuesday afternoon's practice, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott looked every bit ready for Dallas' matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4th, earning him today's Star of the Day. Prescott started off practice with an extremely impressive, cross-body completion to KaVontae Turpin. Prescott followed that up by dropping some dimes to his top wideouts, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, showing some impressive ability to manipulate the pocket and make on-target throws. It can't be overstated just how important Prescott's individual performance and overall health will be to this Cowboys team. If Dallas wants any shot at returning to the postseason this year, they'll need him to stay on the field and perform at the high level he is capable of. Even in a semi-new offense, Prescott has looked very comfortable to this point of training camp. If Dallas' signal-caller can carry this level of performance into the regular season, the Cowboys will be in a good spot to make a postseason return.

Sanity prevails for the Bills and James Cook
It needed to happen. And it finally did. The new contract negotiated between the Bills and running back James Cook is, on the surface, a win-win move for a team in the Super Bowl window. Cook got financial security, and the Bills have a guy who is happy with his situation and ready to fuel a championship run. As usual, there's plenty of deliberate smoke and fluff about the deal. As several league sources have observed, the claim that Cook's has received the most guaranteed money of any running back in five years is factually incorrect. Cook's guarantee is $30 million; Saquon Barkley's was $36 million. We'll eventually get the full Cook deal and break it down. The first question becomes how it compares to the contract recently signed by Rams running back Kyren Williams, who like Cook had completed three NFL seasons. Whatever the terms, Cook is under contract for four years. The drama has ended. Even if, as one source remarked, the running back market is going backward, again. Now, as the Bills get ready for Week 1, both player and team need to go forward while avoiding the temptation to overdo it until he's properly acclimated after his recent absence from practice.
