ITV Soap Awards chaos as star-studded ceremony forced off air
The British Soap Awards were due to air on ITV on Wednesday evening but the star-studded ceremony was forced off air due to a technical glitch, leaving fans fuming.
The British Soap Awards aired to a technical hiccup last night, leaving ITV viewers distinctly unimpressed. The anticipated awards ceremony was scheduled for an 8pm start on ITV1 but failed to grace the screens as planned.
Instead of the glitz and glamour of the soap world, viewers were presented with an apology message stating: "We're sorry for the disruption."
Both ITVX and the television channel encountered the issue, prompting fans to vent their frustration on social media platforms, reports the Mirror.
Disgruntled fans took to Twitter to air their grievances, with one viewer exclaiming: "Where are the #BritishSoapAwards, ITV? Is this because #EastEnders won everything? !" Another disappointed fan added: "Not like we've been waiting all day for this. Cut it out, ITV! #britishsoapawards."
One comment read: "Welcome to the "We're sorry for the disruption" awards I guess! #britishsoapawards," while another frustrated viewer shared: "#BritishSoapAwards Oh come on @ITV. Get on with the soap awards! ! Just hope they show from the start. Bloody annoying!!"
The star-studded event took place in London over the weekend, with the broadcast traditionally following a few days afterward on ITV. Hosting duties were assumed by Jane McDonald, who returned to take the reins from Phillip Schofield.
Jane McDonald expressed her delight at returning to host The British Soap Awards by saying, "I'm beyond excited to be hosting The British Soap Awards again as I had such a ball hosting the awards last time. You all know I love my soaps, so to be in a room giving recognition to all these wonderful actors and their fantastic hard work is simply joyous. I can't wait to get my glittery frock on and celebrate with everyone."
EastEnders emerged as the big winners during this year's prestigious Soap Awards, scooping numerous accolades including Best British Soap and Best Leading Performer for Lacey Turner, who took on the role of Stacey Slater. The Villain of the Year was awarded to Navin Chowdhry, the actor behind the sinister Nish Panesar - a character whose storyline concluded with dramatic scenes earlier in the year.
Steve McFadden garnered praise for his compelling portrayal of Phil Mitchell and the associated psychosis storyline which gained the Best Single Episode award, whilst McFadden himself was honoured with Best Dramatic Performance.
The Scene of the Year accolade was secured by EastEnders for Angie Watts' shock return during the show's 40th anniversary celebrations, while Coronation Street veteran David Neilson received the Outstanding Achievement Award presented by Julie Hesmondhalgh, his ex-colleague from the cobbles.

Anita Dobson, an EastEnders icon speaking ahead of receiving the Scene of the Year trophy, commented: "It was just perfect."
When asked about the potential of returning to the show, she replied: "I don't think so, although I should say never say never, it would have to be something special."
Gillian Taylforth, known for her portrayal of Kathy Beale, expressed her thoughts as well: "It was just brilliant, although none of us knew that she was coming back! We'll need Ange back if anything ever happened to Kathy, not that I want it too."

He later asked her out via the estate agent, who was a pal of hers. Their relationship was rocked by claims Ronnie's mum Maria had called Laila "a prostitute" and the couple initially split in February 2022. They reconciled just months later, but then parted ways again last year. Laila confirmed she and Ronnie had decided to split for good following months of speculation after she was seen without her engagement ring during an appearance on This Morning in August last year. She later wrote on Instagram: "Break ups can strip you down to your essence. "I got through mine by using pain as fuel to take control because no matter what, we will lose parts of ourselves in relationships. It's normal, don't beat yourself up. "One thing I'm conscious of not doing is trying to get back where I was. No, I'm discovering who I've become. How to watch The 1% Club for Soccer Aid celebrity special
Comedian Lee Mack returns to present the show but this time he'll be joined by 100 celebrities and sports stars. Each player gets one pass which they can use to help them skip a question but once they have used it, an incorrect answer takes them out of the game. If they make it to the 1% question, they will be asked to go down to the stage for the final question where they'll see if they are winners. Who will be on The 1% Club for Soccer Aid? While a full lineup hasn't been revealed by ITV, some promotions for the show have seen a few famous faces preparing for their stint. James Martin announces Saturday Morning break as he makes exciting summer plans
James Martin bid his Saturday Morning viewers a fond farewell as the show is being taken off the air for the summer - and he did not explain exactly when the show will be back James Martin has revealed he is shunning exotic holidays and choosing to relax in the UK as his Saturday Morning TV show is paused for the summer. The 52-year-old TV chef took to the air for a final time this weekend ahead of an extended break. The star has been hosting ITV's James Martin's Saturday Morning since 2017 - but fans will have to go for several weeks without seeing him on screens. On Saturday, the host explained that his show is being put on ice for the summer. He did not give an explicit time or date that the long-running series would return - but did shed light on what he would be doing in the interim. After thanking his guests and co-stars, he engaged in some banter with his crew. When the episode came to an end, James announced: "That is also for the series. Me and the crew are heading off on sunny holidays. Different climates." Turning to his team, he asked: "Where are you going?" ITV has been making headlines in recent weeks over the brutal changes they have been making behind-the-scenes, reportedly leading to staff redundancies and even reports Lorraine Kelly is considering quitting the network after her number of shows per year was cut in half and her time slot hugely reduced. ITV revealed last month: "From January 2026, Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes to run from 6am to 9.30am daily, and will transfer to be produced by ITV News at ITN at their base at Gray's Inn Road in London. GMB will be made by a dedicated team within ITV News at ITN. "This change will see ITV bring all its national news gathering into one hub, with Good Morning Britain benefitting from the journalistic and production resources already in place for national news bulletins, for the website and for digital platforms including ITVX." It was added: "Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women will continue to be produced by ITV Studios and will be broadcast from a new location in central London." Drastic changes have not yet been made for weekend scheduling.
