"Uttar Pradesh government to plant 52 crore saplings this year": CM Yogi Adityanath
'This year we are going to plant 52 crore saplings... In the last 8 years, we have planted 204 crore trees, and over 75% of them are alive,' CM Yogi said at an event after launching the state-wide mega plantation campaign.
He further shared that the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change's survey report confirms an increase in forest cover across 5 lakh acres in Uttar Pradesh.
'Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has sent its survey report that says the forest cover in Uttar Pradesh and the institutions that were declared as third party by the state, have also verified that forest cover increased in a 5 lakh acre area. This means we have moved from heatwave to green-wave, and in the future, we will be able to contribute to saving the planet,' he added.
Chief Minister Adityanath planted saplings in Rampur Halwara village on Dashrath Path in Ayodhya and took a selfie under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.
The Chief Minister began his visit to Ayodhya with prayers at the sacred Hanumangarhi temple, seeking peace and prosperity for the state.
He also circumambulated the temple complex to review the progress of the Ram Mandir construction and offered prayers at the Ram Darbar. The Chief Minister commenced his Ayodhya tour with a visit to the Sankat Mochan Hanumangarhi temple. He performed traditional rituals and prayed for the well-being of the people of Uttar Pradesh.
After Hanumangarhi, the Chief Minister proceeded to offer prayers at Ram Lalla's sanctum sanctorum. He performed aarti, circumambulated the temple premises, and later offered prayers at the Ram Darbar.
He also took stock of the progress of the temple construction. Office bearers of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust briefed him on the current status and upcoming phases of the construction project, according to an official release.
On his arrival at the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, CM Yogi received a grand reception from local public representatives and officials. This marks the Chief Minister's first visit to Ayodhya in the month of July. He had last visited on June 5 for the inauguration of the Ram Darbar. (ANI)

Maharashtra CM Fadnavis appeals for peace after communal tension erupts over objectionable post
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday appealed to the public to maintain peace and cooperation after communal tensions flared up in Pune district due to an objectionable social media post shared by an outsider. "We have only one appeal: everyone should maintain peace and no one should take the law into their own hands," Fadnavis said.(ANI) The remark came after a tense situation had arisen in Yavat village at Daund Taluka of Pune District following an alleged objectionable social media post by a local youth. Villagers took to the streets and a few youngsters attempted to vandalise a structure. A heavy deployment of Police personnel was made in the area. Police said that the incident occurred in the village a week ago, so the situation was already tense. Speaking to the media persons, CM Fadnavis said, "We have only one appeal: everyone should maintain peace and no one should take the law into their own hands. If anyone does so, the police will take strict action against them," he warned. The CM assured that the situation had been brought under control and peace was restored in the area. CM Fadnavis said, "I have just gathered information about the matter. According to it, a person from outside had posted an objectionable status, which led to tensions. People came out onto the streets, and in order to control the crowd, a lathi-charge had to be carried out. The situation is now under control. People from both communities are sitting together, talking, and trying to resolve the tension." "Some people deliberately post such statuses to create tension, but strict action will definitely be taken against them. Just because a gathering or event took place, does that give anyone the freedom to post such provocative statuses? No one has the right to make offensive remarks against any religion in this manner," he said. He dismissed the claims that the unrest was linked to a recent public gathering, saying, "So, to say that the tension arose because of a public gathering is completely incorrect. At present, the area is entirely peaceful. In many such cases, doctored videos also come to light. Hence, that aspect must also be investigated." Furthermore, Swapnil Adinath Kadam, a bakery owner whose shop was vandalised and burned, said, "Some of my workers are Muslims and they have come from UP. A social media post surfaced in the morning, it was said that Muslims had posted an objectionable social media post. There is a mosque 150-200 metres from here. They were heading to the mosque. Someone said that this bakery belongs to Muslims. But the bakery belongs to us, and they (workers) are here on rent. Priya, who hails from Kollengode in Palakkad district of Kerala, was convicted by a Yemeni court of murdering her Yemeni business partner Talal Abdo Mahdi and given the death sentence in 2020. Yemen's Supreme Judicial Council dismissed her appeal in November 2023. Priya had injected Mahdi with sedatives in an attempt to retrieve her passport, which he had withheld amid escalating personal and financial disputes. An overdose reportedly led to his death. Efforts to prevent Priya's execution have focused on the Islamic tradition of 'diyat', or paying 'blood money' to the victim's family. However, Mahdi's family has said that it will not agree to such a settlement. The matter has been complicated as India has no diplomatic presence in Yemen, and officials in the Indian mission in Saudi Arabia are handling the case.
