Philadelphia unveiled their Super Bowl 59 rings on Friday night, and we're examining eight hidden facts and details about the glitzy design
The Eagles unveiled their Super Bowl rings commemorating their championship on Friday night as players received their rings in a team ceremony. Players were sized for their rings and selected designs during the locker room cleanout and exit interviews with the media in February.
The Super Bowl LIX Championship Ring was crafted by Jason of Beverly Hills, measuring 41 millimeters in diameter and featuring a total of 12 carats in diamonds, with a combined weight of 140 grams. The ring is composed of white gold and features a green sapphire, symbolizing the Eagles' performance.
With training camp just days away, we're examining eight hidden facts and details about the glitzy design.
Top of the ring
The top of the ring has two Lombardi Trophies for the two Super Bowls the Eagles have won since 2017. One side of the ring has the 40-22 final score from February. The other side of Hurts' ring has his name and jersey number.
Middle inscription
The middle inscription displays the final score of all four postseason matchups, beginning with the Wild Card win over the Packers and concluding with the Super Bowl win over Kansas City.
Wings that pop out
The rings also include a mechanism that allows the 'WINGS' to pop out of the ring and expand.
18 wins on the way to Super Bowl glory
Philadelphia went 14-3 during the regular season and then won four more postseason games. To commemorate that journey, every ring has 18 stones at the top.
Player name
Every player has their name and signature on the dazzling ring.
Ten points of diamonds
Philadelphia went on a ten-game win streak after starting the season out 2-2, and the franchise had ten diamonds placed at the top of the ring to commemorate the streak.
Brazilian Flag
Things started off with an impressive win over the Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the team celebrated that achievement by including a Brazilian Flag above the final score from their four playoff wins.
Coach Siriani's message
We highlighted the wings that protrude from the rings, and they feature an engraved message from head coach Nick Sirianni.
"You can't be great without the greatness of others"
There are 0.9 carats on those wings to represent six sacks and three takeaways in the Super Bowl.

A love letter for every Eagles fan whose heart beats Midnight Green

One city, one team, and another shot at glory. It's been nearly six months since the Philadelphia Eagles pummeled the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. So much has changed, and at the same time, so much has remained recognizable and familiar. Nick Sirianni is still here. So is every offensive starter from last season's run, minus the aforementioned Mekhi Becton. There was a shift at the offensive coordinator position. Kellen Moore is gone. Kevin Patullo got promoted, leaving most of the questions on defense. Gone are starters like C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Darius Slay, and Josh Sweat, but other cornerstones like Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith remain. Vic Fangio returns for year two as defensive coordinator. What he did to repair the damage done by Sean Desai and Matt Patricia last season was nothing short of amazing. He's going to be around for as long as he'd like to be. He has communicated that he's no longer interested in potential head-coaching jobs, so even though the defense was raided, it isn't the punctured unit that so many keep trying to predict it will be. In addition to those previously mentioned, essential role players like Oren Burks, Milton Williams, Avonte Maddox, and Isaiah Rodgers. We'll miss every one of them, but we've also learned Philadelphia can win if each of them is absent. The Birds will be fine. Sure, it's tough to replace all of those guys at the same time, but Philadelphia will press on. We just need to learn about some of the new guys: who they are, how they will play, and how they will blend with the fan base and city. So, welcome to Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba. To Ty Robinson, Mac McWilliams, Smael Mondon, and Antwaun Powell-Ryland, we say welcome. We welcome Azeez Ojulari, Adoree' Jackson, Josh Uche, and Ogbo Okoronkwo. We would like to extend a warm welcome back to Patrick Johnson. Welcome back to training camp, the preseason, and eventually the 93rd season in franchise history. Welcome back to the best atmosphere in sports. Welcome back to Lincoln Financial Field and those black, Kelly Green, and Midnight Green jerseys. Greatness awaits. Hopefully, another deep playoff run awaits as well. The world's best fans will be watching. Expect them to celebrate when this team does its best. Expect correction when they feel like this team doesn't. This is a team full of characters with character. They're heroes. They're role models. They're family, and they're the defending champions, even if they don't want to be called that. To our Birds, we extend our gratitude for the 2024-25 campaign, and we wish you a great season.

Pro Bowl WR says Jalen Hurts is a Top 5 QB with a Tom Brady-like impact on the Eagles

Former Falcons star Roddy White weighed in on the Jalen Hurts debate by saying the Super Bowl winning QB is elite, and doesn't make mistakes in crunch time Roddy White is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was named an All-Pro in 2010, when the former Falcons star led the NFL in receptions with 115 and the NFC in receiving yards with 1,389, also scoring 10 touchdowns that year. White caught passes from Matt Ryan and knows a good quarterback when he sees one. During a recent interview with Vegas Insider, White discussed the Falcons roster, NFL wide receivers, and weighed in on the Jalen Hurts debate by saying the Super Bowl-winning quarterback is "most definitely elite, and that he doesn't make the same mistakes other quarterbacks do in crunch time." "Jalen Hurts is definitely a top five quarterback in the NFL. It's like a Tom Brady effect when you do what you need to do for your team to win and Hurts does that really well. "Hurts is very good at reading a football game. If he has to go out there and throw for 350 yards, he's very capable of that. However, if they have to run the ball and Saquon Barkley goes off for 200 yards and Hurts only throws for 150, he's ok with that. "It's all about whatever it takes to win the game and Hurts doesn't get enough credit for this and for how good he is at reading football games. Hurts, crowned Super Bowl LIX MVP, became just the second QB in Eagles history to deliver a Super Bowl Championship to the City of Philadelphia, joining Nick Foles (Super Bowl LII MVP). According to Elias Sports, Hurts is only the seventh NFL QB to appear in multiple Super Bowls and win a championship in their first five seasons. The other QBs who did so are Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Ben Roethlisberger, Kurt Warner, and Russell Wilson.

Bryce Harper reportedly told Rob Manfred to 'get the f*** out of our clubhouse' if he wanted to talk salary cap

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper plays with a lot of passion. And after a reported tense run-in with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, it appears Harper's passion for the game presents itself away from the field as well. Harper reportedly told Manfred to "get the f*** out of our clubhouse" during a contentious team meeting with the commissioner, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. Manfred routinely meets with all 30 MLB teams in an attempt to forge and improve relationships with players and clubs. But that meeting reportedly took a turn when Manfred started talking about the "game's economics," per Passan. Harper stood up, walked toward the middle of the room, faced up to Manfred and said: "If you want to speak about that, you can get the f— out of our clubhouse." Manfred, sources said, responded that he was "not going to get the f— out of here," saying it was important to talk about threats to MLB's business and ways to grow the game. Manfred reportedly never used the term "salary cap," though the idea the league would look to implement one is not farfetched. A salary cap has been at the center of a few MLB-MLBPA labor negotiations over the years. Baseball remains one of the only major sports to not have a salary cap. The Harper-Manfred situation didn't escalate any further, per Passan. Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos stepped in to ask more questions, which seemed to get the meeting back on track. Harper and Manfred reportedly shook hands after the meeting, but Harper did not answer phone calls from Manfred after the fact, per Passan. Castellanos confirmed to ESPN the contentious exchange between Harper and Manfred. "It was pretty intense, definitely passionate," Castellanos told ESPN. "Both of 'em, the commissioner giving it back to Bryce and Bryce giving it back to the commissioner. That's Harp. He's been doing this since he was 15 years old. It's just another day. I wasn't surprised." Castellanos also discussed why the players were frustrated by Manfred's language and approach. Per Castellanos, Manfred talked about a possible lockout once the current collective-bargaining agreement expires after the 2026 MLB season. Castellanos took issue with that term being thrown around years before the CBA expires, per ESPN. "That's nothing to throw around. That's the same thing as me saying in a marriage, 'I think divorce is a possibility. It's probably going to happen.' You don't just say those things." While there's still plenty of time before the CBA expires, both sides appear to be ready for another contentious round of negotiations. While Manfred reportedly brought up the word "lockout," Castellanos took a different view of the situation, saying any work stoppage is bad for the game. "Nobody wants a work stoppage in baseball," he continued. "Not the players, not the league." Avoiding a work stoppage ahead of the 2027 MLB season could present a challenge. Negotiations were not smooth the last time the CBA expired, leading to a 99-day lockout in 2022. Both sides eventually agreed to a five-year deal, but the MLB season started late due to the extended negotiations. In March, MLBPA director Tony Clark said the players already expect to be locked out once the current CBA ends. If the owners take that step and then try to introduce a salary cap ahead of 2027, that could present a significant issue for the players. Given his reported reaction to Manfred, Harper will almost certainly be a major voice within the union if that's the path the owners take.
