Ryback Defends CM Punk After He Apologized And Competed In Saudi Arabia

Yahoo20-07-2025
Ryback coming to CM Punk's defense in 2025 probably wasn't on many wrestling fans' bingo cards this year.
WWE Superstar CM Punk has come under fire from critics and fans following his appearance in Saudi Arabia this week, where he apologized for a six-year-old tweet and competed against John Cena in the main event of Night of Champions.
Surprisingly, one of Punk's biggest detractors of the last decade, former WWE Superstar Ryback, has come to his defense today on social media in response to an opinion piece, tweeting out:
'I've had my issues with Punk, but I don't see him as a sellout. He returned to do what he loves and to make money — much like you're doing by writing critical think pieces about others for clicks. WWE is a global business, and working at that level means navigating complex deals, personal beliefs, and public perception. His apology wasn't about abandoning values — it was about how he expressed them publicly in ways that hurt professional relationships,' Ryback said in a post.

Nick Hogan pays tribute to dad Hulk Hogan

Nick Hogan has paid tribute to his late father, Hulk Hogan. The son of Hogan and ex-wife Linda Hogan broke his silence at the weekend, reflecting on his bond with the wrestling star. "My dad was the most incredible person I've ever known and will always be my hero," he wrote in an Instagram post. "He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for. I feel so blessed to have had the greatest dad in the world. He was not only the best dad but also my mentor and my best friend. He always has been my best friend and I love him and miss him more than I could ever explain." Alongside his heartfelt tribute, Nick included photos of himself and his dad throughout the years, and shared some details from their final months. "I thanked him for everything he has ever done for me and told him how much I loved him and hugged him every chance I got," Nick continued. "I spent a lot of time with him the past few years after moving back to Florida to be closer to him and I am so grateful for those memories. They are the best moments in my life."

Royals player with late Cubs fan father reacts to hitting Wrigley Field home run

The post Royals player with late Cubs fan father reacts to hitting Wrigley Field home run appeared first on ClutchPoints. Kansas City Royals rookie outfielder John Rave has three career Major League home runs to his name, but his most recent may mean the most — so far. Rave hit a solo shot in the 7th inning of the Royals' 12-4 win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Monday, and he had his late father in mind when he did it. 'I thought about him pretty much the whole game,' Rave said on the field after the game. 'He grew up a big Cubs fan. I tried to talk to him a little bit throughout the game. He's got the best seat in the house here. This is a pretty special one.' Rave's father died in 2020 following an accident at home. The rookie has honored him throughout his inaugural MLB season. On Monday, the Bloomington, Illinois native had dozens of friends and family in the stands for the game, and he entertained them with a 3-4 night, including the homer and three runs scored. 'It felt a little bit in slow-mo to be honest,' he added of the home run. 'It was definitely a special one that I'm going to remember for a long time, so, grateful for it.' As he rounded the bases on his home run, he even caught the eye of some friends in the Wrigley Field bleachers. 'Between friends and family, they're kind of all over the park in different spots, but I was able to see a couple of my buddies up in the bleachers having a good time,' Rave said. 'So I tossed a ball up to one of them so that was a cool moment.' His brother was also in attendance, though he's converted from a Cubs fan to a Royals fan, probably at Rave's behest. Rave has played in 39 games for the Royals this year after making his MLB debut in May. He is hitting .205 over 78 career at bats. Hulk Hogan's son, Nick, shares touching tribute to his 'hero' following wrestling legend's death

Hulk Hogan's son has penned his thoughts following the death of his father, the wrestling icon who he referred to as his "best friend" and "hero." Nick Hogan posted a carousel of 20 pictures on Instagram of himself and his father over the years, and wrote an emotional caption to accompany them. Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died Thursday after he suffered a possible cardiac arrest. "This has been overwhelming and extremely difficult," Hogan wrote in his tribute to his father. "Hearing so many kinds words and stories about my dad's life, interactions and experiences with everyone has been incredible and comforting. My dad was the most incredible person I've ever known and will always be my hero. He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for. "I spent a lot of time with him the past few years after moving back to Florida to be closer to him and I am so grateful for those memories. They are the best moments in my life. I would do anything to have him back, but I know now that he will always be watching over me. I will always remember the lessons and advice he gave me and carry on in a way that I know would make him proud. "Thank you for being the best dad in the world and thank you for being my best friend. I love you so much Big Dog and I will miss you forever." Nick is the daughter of the "Hulkster" and his ex-wife Linda, who they also shared a daughter, Brooke, with. Hulk and Linda Hogan filed for divorce in 2007. Before the divorce, the family was featured on the hit VH1 reality show, "Hogan Knows Best," which aired from 2005-07. Tana Lee, the wife of Nick Hogan, also posted a tribute to her father-in-law following his death. It showed them together on her wedding day in January, among other Instagram Stories on her page to honor him. Tributes to Hogan have poured in from all over, as former wrestling colleagues, celebrities, family, friends, and many more remembered the bigger-than-life personality that shined inside and out of the ring. "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away," the company wrote on Thursday, confirming news of his death. "One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. "WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." Hogan was set to join former pro wrestling executive Eric Bischoff in a new venture called Real American Freestyle. It was a fresh attempt at putting freestyle wrestling on the map. Hogan also dipped his toe into the political waters. He stumped for President Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention and at a Madison Square Garden rally last year. "We lost our Commissioner. We lost a friend. And the sport of wrestling lost one of its greatest champions, not just in the ring, but in spirit," Real American Freestyle (RAF) CEO and co-founder Chad Bronstein said in a statement. "Hulk Hogan believed wrestling was more than just entertainment. He saw it as a brotherhood, a proving ground and a platform for greatness. That's what Real American Freestyle was built to be, a new stage for the toughest, most passionate athletes on Earth. And Hulk was at the center of it. "From day one, he threw his weight behind this league. He met with athletes. He watched tape, shared stories, and showed up like only he could. RAF was personal to him, something bigger than all of us. This league is part of his legacy, and we intend to honor it."
