OnePlus Bullets Z3 review: Practical operation, solid performance

Rating: 3.5/5
There was a time when neckband-style wireless earphones were all the rage in India. But as TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds took over, offering convenience in all shapes and sizes, neckbands seemed to take a backseat. The trend gradually faded but
OnePlus
's Bullets range held the ground, providing top-notch quality in a relatively low price point. The company recently launched Bullets Wireless Z3 (priced at Rs 1,699) as a successor to the Bullets Z2.
Fundamentally, the Bullets Z3 looks and feels quite similar to its predecessor but it does pack some notable upgrades. If you're one of those who still prefer the comfort and reliability of a neckband over TWS earbuds, read on this full review to know what has changed in the latest generation of the OnePlus Bullets Z series.
OnePlus Bullets Z3 design
If we are to summarise the design of the OnePlus Bullets Z3, it is nothing but familiarity with a fresh hue. There isn't much groundbreaking news here as the latest neckband largely retains the familiar aesthetic of the Bullets Z2. It carries forward the signature magnetic on-and-off function, which is handy for pausing music when you're not listening, the skin-friendly silicone material build, and its ergonomically curved shape that ensures a snug fit.

So, whether you're heading to the office or hitting the gym, you can comfortably wear these around your neck without worrying about them falling off, thanks to that magnetic lock. The OnePlus Bulltes Z3 is available in two colour options: Mambo Midnight and Samba Sunset. All the physical controls – volume rockers and buttons – are located on the left side of the neckband, are tactile and provide satisfying feedback. There's a USB Type-C charging port and an LED indicator that lights up in red and white.
OnePlus has also added an IP55 water and sweat resistance rating, making the Bullets Wireless Z3 suitable for outdoor use and capable of withstanding splashes of rain.
OnePlus Bullets Z3 performance
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 neckband earphones can be used with both Android phones and iPhones. If you are using a OnePlus phone, you can access some basic functions directly through their Bluetooth settings to personalise the audio output.
The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 features 12.4mm dynamic bass drivers, which are the same as those found in the Bullets Z2 model from 2022. Out of the box, the Z3 offers a decent sound profile with a balanced approach. Vocals come through clear and natural to a good extent. The treble is clear and extended but don't expect it to deliver a top-notch, high-quality audio with nuanced musical details.
Coming to the bass, the earphones provide a punchy thump, which sometimes may prove overwhelming to some users. If you love bass, then you'll appreciate the punch and complemented clarity. Lows are a bit tight and controlled, allowing other instruments to flourish. Mids and highs are well pronounced, which means guitar solos like
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
and
Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze
sounded great.
While there may be some music tracks that sound 'unclear' due to lack of separation in musical instruments but vocals are clearly pronounced. For example, when listening to tracks like
Eminem's "Animals"
and
Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us,"
we found the vocals were exceptionally clear, making it easy to recognise every word.
The neckband handles volume changes smoothly, from quiet passages to loud music, without any harshness and they are loud. Pop Rap songs like
On To The Next One by Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz
were a treat for the ears.
You also get the OnePlus 3D Audio function, which aims to create an immersive sound environment. The earphones have a wide soundstage that's decent at best. All in all, we found the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 resonate more with House Music, Dance Music and EDM and perform well for various other genres.
OnePlus has included AI-powered Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) that essentially enhances call clarity by reducing background noise during conversations. Like the Bullets Z2, these earphones lack Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), however, we may see an ANC version like the Bullets Z2 ANC model.
Battery and features
Battery life is also robust. The neckband packs a 220mAh battery and is claimed to deliver 36 hours of audio playback. During our review, we got a week's battery on one charge, often using the earphones for up to 5 hours a day. The fast-charging feature is a bonus as OnePlus claims that just 10 minutes of charging can provide up to 27 hours of playback.
The Bullets Wireless Z3 earphones support Google Fast Pair and Bluetooth v5.4. In terms of audio codecs, the neckband supports AAC and SBC, which is expected given its price point.
Verdict
At Rs 1,699, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 is a pretty good deal, especially for those who still prefer the comfort and convenience of neckbands over TWS earbuds. The audio output is balanced and its fantastic call clarity is appreciable. The robust battery backup and fast-charging support are the added benefits. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 offers a compelling value proposition, combining balanced performance credentials with a solid battery life.

42k Maha Card Rides in a Day: Digital Surge Ahead of Metro's Open-Loop Upgrade

Nagpur: MahaMetro's digital push is paying off, with a record-breaking 42,257 commuters using Maha Cards on August 5 — the highest single-day usage since the system was launched in 2019. The number accounted for 39% of Nagpur Metro 's daily ridership, which stood at 1.07 lakh that day. Digital ticketing as a whole also hit a new milestone, with 56% of commuters opting for cashless travel via Maha Cards, QR codes, and mobile apps. Officials said the spike signals a major behavioural shift among daily riders towards faster, more convenient travel. The Maha Card, a co-branded contactless smart card developed in partnership with State Bank of India, has been the backbone of Nagpur Metro's cashless journey since Phase 1. Currently, over 1.10 lakh passengers hold active Maha Cards, with an average of two new cards issued daily per station. Commuters benefit from fare concessions of 10% for regular passengers and 30% for students, making it a preferred option. The latest surge follows Maha Metro's recent promotional drive launched on July 25, offering free Maha Cards with a Rs200 recharge. The campaign has already led to the distribution of more than 1,300 new cards. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo This record comes at a time the Maha Card is set to evolve. As part of Phase 2 of the Nagpur Metro project, Maha Metro is preparing to shift to a Rs154 crore Open Loop Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system. Unlike the current closed-loop Maha Card, which works only within the Nagpur Metro network, the upcoming system will support National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC). The NCMC system will allow seamless, interoperable travel across metros, buses, and other public transport systems in India. EMV-based and bank-issued, these cards will function like debit cards, enabling commuters to use a single card across cities and modes of transport. Maha Metro has already floated a tender for the supply, installation, and commissioning of the new system, which also includes QR code-based ticketing and a long-term maintenance contract. Importantly, officials said existing AFC gates installed in Phase 1 stations won't require replacement; only a software upgrade will be needed to support the new format. "Even the existing Maha Cards may continue after the rollout of the NCMC cards. However, the open-loop card system is still in its early stages, so it's too soon to say exactly how it will work out. If possible, we'll integrate the new system by upgrading the existing AFC infrastructure to support both old and new cards. Otherwise, we may have to phase out the old cards and issue new ones to commuters. However, nothing is final at this point, as the entire process is still at a preliminary stage," said a Maha Metro official. As Maha Card usage peaks, the city's metro commuters are already riding the wave of digital convenience — and the next upgrade promises to take that a step further, far beyond city limits.

Elon Musk's Grok-AI Garners Criticism, Auto-Generating Taylor Swift's Explicit Deep Fakes

Grok AI accused of creating Taylor Swift's explicit deepfakes: Image via X The AI chatbot Grok is again in the headlines, and for all the wrong reasons. Technology is freaking good unless and until it messes up with someone's privacy. On top, if that someone is none other than the $800 million pop singer Taylor Swift , the water seems to be even deeper for Elon Musk 's xAI. Grok recently explored the power to create spicy NSFW content. The new spicy mode makes it a cakewalk for unauthorized entities to grab the mouse and satisfy their quirk by producing some of the most realistic explicit photos. However, the scariest part is that the new tool doesn't even always require user instructions. Grok's latest feature accidentally violates Taylor Swift's privacy The Verge revealed that Taylor Swift stands at the vulnerable end of the new AI features. Reporter Jess Weatherbed asked Grok's spicy video editor to depict 'Taylor Swift celebrating Coachella with the boys.' But what he got instead was enough to leave the Grammy-winning singer sleepless. The feature flawlessly generated 30 images of Swift in revealing clothes. That's not it. The spicy mode automatically produced a video of the singer taking off her dress and dancing sensually in front of a fake, robotic crowd. When it doesn't even do it with a prior nudity request, the leadership should address the internal glitch before it causes further outrage on the social media walls. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bespoke 3,3.5 & 4 BHK Homes: ₹2.30Cr*+ at Singasandra, Bengaluru Mahindra NewHaven Get Quote Undo Their content filter is clearly malfunctioning, but when someone's privacy is involved, it can be flagged as a major issue in Mask's business. However, this is not the first time the platform came across such an 18+ botch. Taylor Swift is not foreign to getting shoved on the wrong side of ‌technology Last year, Taylor Swift's explicit deep fakes went viral on X, and nobody knew how. Fans went berserk, questioning ‌the flawed safety. After a huge backlash, the X-safety team assured of looking into the matter with urgency and never letting it happen twice. ''Posting Non-Consensual Nudity (NCN) images is strictly prohibited on X, and we have a zero-tolerance policy towards such content,' officials stated with a promise to take down all the other offensive posts as well. Now, given that they are again at‌ gunpoint, people are not wrong to demand ‌stronger background checks of their tools and techs. Elon Musk has claimed that Grok Imagine's usage is rapidly growing like wildfire. He added that 14 million images had already been generated on August 4, and by August 5, this number skyrocketed to 20million. The stat undoubtedly denoted the success of installing the new approach, but unless and until the safety remarks are ensured, everything else will remain a gold brick.
