Mohamed Mandour
Egypt's Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammad Ayyad, delivered a speech at the High Islamic Council Conference in Algeria, held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
In his address, Dr. Ayyad emphasized that human acquaintance (taʿāruf) is a foundational Islamic value that promotes peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. OPEN// Egypt reaffirms rejection of escalation in Gaza, decries 'Greater Israel' statements

CAIRO, Aug 15 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of the ongoing Israeli military escalation in Gaza, the recent expansion of settlement activity in the West Bank, and inflammatory statements advocating the so-called "Greater Israel." He stressed that such actions only serve to inflame tensions, escalate conflict, and undermine regional stability. The remarks came during a phone call on Friday between Abdelatty and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. The phone call was held in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to intensify international efforts toward securing a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating urgent humanitarian assistance. They engaged in a comprehensive discussion on the latest political, security, and humanitarian developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty stressed the urgent need to establish a credible political horizon that paves the way for a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian issue, one that ensures the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's ongoing efforts to mediate a ceasefire and underscored the need for stronger international engagement, particularly from the European Union (EU), to help end hostilities and guarantee the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. He placed full responsibility on Israel, as the occupying power, for keeping Gaza's five border crossings closed, calling for their immediate reopening and the removal of all obstacles hindering the flow of urgent humanitarian and medical assistance, measures he described as contributing to a deliberate policy of starvation. During the phone call, Abdelatty briefed the EU official on Egypt's intensive efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, to reach a comprehensive agreement ensuring a ceasefire, unimpeded humanitarian access, and a hostage-prisoner swap, involving the release of hostages and a number of Palestinian detainees. The call also addressed Egypt's preparations to host an international conference in Cairo on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, set to take place immediately after a ceasefire is achieved. The conference is being organized in coordination with regional and international partners, including the EU. For her part, the EU high representative praised Egypt's sustained efforts to de-escalate the situation and secure a ceasefire, as well as its key role in alleviating the unbearable suffering of the Palestinian people by facilitating the delivery of aid. She expressed the EU's readiness to participate in the Gaza reconstruction conference and work closely with Egypt to ensure unhindered humanitarian access and the success of efforts exerted to achieve a ceasefire. MCE Condemns Israeli Plan for 3,400 New Settlement Units

Mohamed Mandour The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Egypt's Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, on Friday strongly condemned Israel's approval to build 3,400 new settlement units near the West Bank and Jerusalem, saying the move targets the territorial integrity of a future Palestinian state. In a statement, the council described the decision, approved by Israel's finance minister, as 'a flagrant violation of international law' and 'a serious undermining of peace efforts.' It urged the international community to act swiftly to halt the expansion and to uphold the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The council said such settlement activity 'constitutes a provocative practice' that deepens tensions and threatens regional stability, calling on world leaders to take a clear stand against what it views as ongoing violations of Palestinian rights. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Arab, Islamic States Condemn Netanyahu's 'Greater Israel' Remarks, Settlement Expansion Plans

Mohamed Mandour The foreign ministers of 31 Arab and Islamic countries, along with the secretaries-general of the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, on Friday strongly condemned recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the so-called 'Greater Israel,' calling them a grave violation of international law and a direct threat to regional peace and security. In a joint statement, the officials said Netanyahu's remarks — as reported by Israeli media — demonstrate 'a blatant and dangerous disregard' for the principles of stable international relations. They reaffirmed their countries' commitment to the U.N. Charter, particularly the prohibition against the use or threat of force, and pledged to adopt 'all policies and measures' necessary to safeguard peace, stability, and development. The ministers also denounced the approval by Israel's far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich of a contentious settlement plan in the 'E1' area, as well as his 'radical racist statements' rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state. They described the move as a 'flagrant violation' of international law and an assault on the Palestinian people's right to an independent, sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement underscored that Israel has 'no sovereignty' over the Occupied Palestinian Territories and warned that unilateral actions undermine prospects for peace in the region. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
