Brad Arnold, lead singer of 3 Doors Down, has been diagnosed with Stage IV kidney cancer, prompting the cancellation of the band's upcoming U.S. summer tour.
The 46-year-old front man revealed the diagnosis in a video posted to social media on Wednesday, telling fans that the cancer had metastasized to his lungs.
"It's Stage IV, and that's not real good," Arnold said in the video. "But, you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear, I really sincerely am not scared of it at all."
Arnold said he had been feeling unwell for several weeks before doctors diagnosed him with clear cell renal cell carcinoma, the most common type of kidney cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, when this type of cancer spreads to other organs, treatment becomes more difficult and the five-year survival rate drops to around 10 percent.

The band's planned tour, which was scheduled to begin May 15 in Daytona Beach, Florida, included several co-headlining dates with Creed. All upcoming performances have been removed from the band's website and replaced with Arnold's video message.
Arnold said that 3 Doors Down's 2008 hit "It's Not My Time" has taken on a new, personal significance. He also asked fans to "lift me up in prayer every chance you get."
Arnold, the last remaining founding member of 3 Doors Down, co-founded the band in Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1996. They achieved early success with the hit single "Kryptonite," which he wrote in high school. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped launch the band's debut album, The Better Life, which went on to sell over six million copies.
The band's subsequent albums, including Away From the Sun and Seventeen Days, solidified their status as rock radio mainstays. Over the years, the group has undergone several lineup changes. Founding guitarist Matt Roberts left in 2012 and died of a prescription drug overdose in 2016. Bassist Todd Harrell was dismissed after being convicted of vehicular homicide in 2013.
Arnold struggled with alcohol addiction but credited his Christian faith with supporting his sobriety since 2016.
"Without question, God took that burden from me," he previously told The Guardian regarding his sobriety. "I was so tired of carrying it. I couldn't carry it anymore so I gave it to God and I'm not taking it back."
Support for Arnold poured in online, with Creed front man Scott Stapp writing on Instagram: "If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it's YOU brother."
Singer Gavin DeGraw added: "May God bless you brother. Showing us how to conquer the darkness with light."
Arnold did not provide additional details about treatment plans but said he is surrounded by support and remains hopeful.

Mom in Hospital Was Missing Beloved Cat—Her Twins Knew Exactly What to Do
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Hoping to lift their mother's spirits while in the hospital, her twins concocted a plan to secretly bring the family cat, which left viewers split on the decision. Shanae and Renae Nel told Newsweek their mother started having seizures over the last few months, ultimately leading her to a hospital stay starting on July 27. During their visits, the twins, who are known on Instagram as @theneltwins, heard how she missed the family cat, Luna. That's when the sisters, along with their little brother, began strategizing about bringing Luna with them for a visit, as they were unsure how long their mom would be in the hospital. They said the idea started as a joke, but hearing how much their mother missed Luna, they knew they needed to pull off a surprise. The twins shared in an August 6 Instagram video how they successfully snuck Luna in. They placed her in a bag, with a coat thrown on top. They thought the worst that could happen would be if a staff member asked them to leave. They tried to remain "undercover" and prayed Luna would not meow. While they thought they seemed suspicious, they said it appeared everyone else minded their business. "I was so shocked; she was so chill," one of the twins said of the cat. "She didn't make a sound." When they reached their mother's room, they told her they needed to close the curtains, hoping to avoid a big scene. However, their mother started panicking, thinking something had happened, but as soon as they pulled Luna out of the bag, she "lit up." Unable to control her excitement, the twins kept telling her to be quiet as she spoke with Luna. Their mother fed the cat some yogurt and let Luna lick her hand. Another patient, whose mother had befriended, also came over to say hello. Luna stayed at the hospital for about 10 minutes, the twins said. And the risk? Beyond worth it for them. They said Luna was "well behaved" and she never meowed. Their mother told them it was the best present. And now, finally home, Luna and their mother are catching up on their missed time together. Viewers Split on Surprise The act of love instantly touched people's hearts, bringing in over 183,000 views on Instagram as of Monday. "Can't convince me this doesn't help the healing process," wrote one viewer. "As a nurse. I saw nothing. In fact, I'm blind in my right and left eyes," another commenter said. However, many felt the cat's visit was unwarranted: "I get it. But no. The cat gotta be stressed out as well. I hope she can come home soon to see the cat properly." When asked about the negative feedback from the video, the twins said they're used to getting backlash as they've been posting on social media for years. They didn't care about the response; their mother came first. "We just wanted to see Mom happy again," they said. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Cody Rhodes Casts Doubt On Major WWE Match Happening Again
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The epic rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns defined WWE for two years, and now the new Undisputed WWE Champion has commented on the possibility of a third, tie-breaking match. While fans have been clamoring for a trilogy bout, Rhodes has admitted it would be a "very hard match to have happen" in the current landscape. Speaking on the Sports Illustrated Podcast, "The American Nightmare" was asked about another encounter with "The Tribal Chief." He acknowledged the importance of a rubber match but was realistic about the challenges. A Hard Match To Make Cody Rhodes praised Roman Reigns as an opponent and acknowledged the significance of their two WrestleMania main events. However, he noted that their current standing in the company makes a third match difficult to put together. "I can tell you that's probably a very hard match to have happen," Rhodes said. "But I could see it being very significant it happening again... for the fans who really make this all up... you can't just have two, you know, we split it, right? So that third exists... I'm certainly not adverse to it. I don't know what his outlook on it is." Finishing The Story: A Two-Year Saga The rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns is the definitive storyline of the modern WWE era. It spanned two full years, beginning with Cody's return to the company in 2022 with the stated goal of winning the championship his father, Dusty Rhodes, never held. Cody Rhodes looks on during the WWE Royal Rumble at Alamodome on January 28, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. Cody Rhodes looks on during the WWE Royal Rumble at Alamodome on January 28, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. Alex Bierens de Haan Their first epic encounter was in the main event of WrestleMania 39, where Reigns, with the help of The Bloodline, defeated Rhodes in a heartbreaking finish. Cody spent the next year fighting his way back to the main event, winning a second consecutive Royal Rumble to earn a rematch. At WrestleMania 40, he finally "finished the story," defeating Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match A Tale of Two Paths With their series tied at one win apiece, a third match seems inevitable from a storytelling perspective. However, the two stars are now on very different paths. Cody Rhodes is once again the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion on SmackDown after defeating John Cena at SummerSlam. Roman Reigns, after a long hiatus following his WrestleMania 40 loss, has recently returned to the Raw brand as a changed man. He is reportedly now on a new quest to capture the World Heavyweight Championship, which would put him on a collision course with that title, not Cody's. For a third match to happen, a major brand switch or a special "champion vs. champion" scenario would be required. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
