West Indies name T20I squads as big name misses out
The tour will begin with a three-match T20I series against England from June 6 to June 10, followed by another three-T20I series against Ireland from June 12 to June 15. The England series will mark Shai Hope's first assignment as the T20I skipper of the West Indies.
Veteran all-rounder Jason Holder returns to the T20I setup after last featuring in February 2024, while explosive all-rounder Andre Russell has also been named for the England leg of the series, making a comeback after injury cut short his last appearance against England in Barbados.
Nicholas Pooran has been rested for both series following an extended campaign in the Indian Premier League 2025.

Lord's will host its first ICC Test World Championship Final this year, the latest in a storied list of showpiece occasions to be staged at the 'Home of Cricket'. Here is a look back at the nine World Cup showpieces which have taken place at the venue so far. 1975 – West Indies v Australia The first-ever ICC Men's Cricket World Cup concluded at Lord's and the West Indies became the inaugural champions by beating Australia in the final. Clive Lloyd top scored with 102 as the Windies set Ian Chappell's side 292 to win before five run outs saw Australia bowled out 17 runs short with eight balls remaining of their 60 overs. 1979 – England v West Indies The Windies defended their title in 1979 and stretched their unbeaten run in ICC Men's Cricket World Cups to two tournaments as they beat hosts England in the final. Viv Richards' 138 helped rescue the Windies from a wobble as they posted 286 before a five-fer for Joel Garner helped bowl England out for 194. 1983 – India v West Indies The trend of batting first and winning the final continued for the 1983 final at Lord's, but this time the West Indies' grip on the trophy ended. India arrests four people for cricket fans stampede
Police in India's tech capital of Bengaluru have arrested four people, including an official of a top cricket franchise, in connection with a stampede during a trophy celebration that killed 11 people and injured 47, media reported. Four people, three from an event management company and one official from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru cricket team, whose victory in the Indian Premier League this week led to fan frenzy, were arrested early on Friday morning, media said. Spokespersons for the team did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters. On Wednesday, Bengaluru were celebrating their win the previous day over Punjab Kings in the final of the IPL's 18th edition, the world's richest T20 cricket league. The team had given away free passes for the celebration at a stadium in the city but said that numbers would be limited. Thousands of people gathered outside the stadium, and fans without passes tried push through the gates, leading to a stampede. The franchise said later the incident was "unfortunate" and pledged one million Indian rupees to each family of the 11 fans who died on Wednesday. India's head cricket coach Gautam Gambhir said on Thursday he did not support such roadshows and celebrations. "Celebration is important. But more important than that is the life of any person. So, if we are not prepared or if we can't handle the crowd in that way, then we might as well not have these roadshows," Gambhir told reporters.
