PETALING JAYA: Deleum Bhd will acquire oilfield services assets and business in Thailand for RM60mil.
The oil and gas company said this move is part of its strategic growth plan for regional expansion.
Deleum will, through its Thai subsidiary named Deleum Oilfield Solutions (Thailand) Co Ltd (DOST) purchase assets including slickline, hydraulic workover and well head maintenance from MPC Future Co Ltd.
The purchase consideration for these assets would be satisfied through a combination of cash payment and issuance of new shares in DOST, it said.

'The proposed acquisition is aligned with Deleum's strategy to strengthen its regional footprint and enhance its service offerings beyond Malaysia,' it said.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, the company said this acquisition is expected to be completed within the second half of 2025.

Thailand Sets Up One-stop Service Centre To Help Exporters Weather US Tariffs

BUSINESS BANGKOK, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Thailand has established the Ministry of Commerce One Stop Service (MOC OSS) Centre to assist Thai businesses in responding to United States (US) tariff measures, offering comprehensive trade services ranging from tax advisory to market expansion to help reduce export costs. Deputy Government Spokesperson Anukool Pruksanusak said the initiative aims to drive forward the 'Reliable Commerce' policy, with the government serving as a dependable partner for Thai entrepreneurs at all levels — from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large corporations. 'The government is prepared to support entrepreneurs in every dimension — both proactive and reactive — to stand alongside Thai businesses, enabling them to adapt and maintain their competitiveness in global markets,' he said in a statement published on the Royal Thai Government website on Wednesday. Anukool said the establishment of the OSS Centre is just one of several measures the government has put in place to address the impact of the US's 19 per cent import tariff. At present, the OSS Centre brings together 12 agencies providing services on-site. He said there are also plans to invite other ministries and organisations, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Federation of Thai Industries, Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the SMEs Association, to further expand service coverage. 'The OSS Centre is designed to be a comprehensive support hub for entrepreneurs, offering services ranging from tax advisory and remedial measures to information provision, business cost-reduction strategies, and the creation of new global market opportunities — enabling businesses to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances,' he said. According to a presidential order issued by the White House on July 31, Thailand, along with four other ASEAN member states – Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Indonesia – will be subject to the same 19 per cent tariff, effective Aug 1. The new rate replaces the 36 per cent tariff announced in April, bringing Thailand's tariff treatment more in line with that of other regional economies.

Asian shares climb on Fed cut hopes; Thai central bank in focus

Asian equities rose on Wednesday, led by gains in Indonesia and Malaysia stocks, as softer U.S. inflation data bolstered hopes of a Federal Reserve rate cut in September, lifting risk appetite among investors. Shares in Jakarta rose as much as 1.4%, to the highest level since mid-September 2024, while those in Kuala Lumpur advanced 1.5%. The equity market in Singapore added 1%, and shares in Taipei rose 0.3%. The broader MSCI gauge of Asian emerging market equities rose 0.3%. The Thai stock market reopened after a two-day public holiday, with the benchmark up 1% ahead of the Bank of Thailand's rate decision due later on Wednesday. Overnight data showed U.S. consumer prices rose modestly in July, in line with expectations, and U.S. equity benchmarks closed at record highs as President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs have so far not affected the price of goods much. "It's clear that almost any good news leads investors to pile money into markets, particularly tech stocks, despite their lofty price tags," Paco Chow, dealing manager at trading platform Moomoo said in a note. "Investors are riding on 95% odds of a Fed rate cut in five weeks and feeling comfort that inflation is only creeping higher, not running amok." The data lifted investor appetite for risk in Asia, while the growing certainty of a Fed cut next month pushed the dollar lower. Investor confidence in the dollar was further dented after the White House said President Donald Trump was weighing legal action against Fed Chair Jerome Powell over his handling of renovations at the central bank's headquarters. Despite the dollar's decline, Asian currencies were little changed, with the Indonesian rupiah and Malaysian ringgit up 0.3% and 0.2% each, while the Taiwan dollar edged 0.1% higher and the Thai baht was flat. The Bank of Thailand (BOT) is expected to cut its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 1.5%, according to a Reuters poll, to support a slowing economy, after having kept rates steady in June. Sluggish private consumption, weak consumer confidence, high household debt, and slower foreign tourism have piled pressure on the BOT to take action. Meanwhile, stock markets in India rose 0.3% while the rupee held steady, a day after data showed inflation eased to 1.55% in July from 2.10% in June. [Watch] Viral Kolo Mee Lady Opens Fourth Stall In Less Than A Year

Subscribe to our FREE A viral Kolo Mee seller from Kuching, Sarawak, who gained fame in April this year due to her good looks, has been making headlines again. The former beauty therapist decided to leave the beauty industry to take over her mother's business. According to videos posted by food bloggers on Facebook pages '吃喝玩乐大小事 By Justin Say' and 'Sarawak Foodie,' the internet sensation has opened a new stall at a popular food destination in Kuching. In less than a year, she has successfully expanded her business to four outlets, now selling not only her signature Kolo Mee but also Laksa and her speciality Thai crispy roast pork. Responding to public questioning about why she keeps 'moving around,' the Kolo Mee lady clarified, 'Don't simply assume I keep moving! This is my newest fourth outlet,' emphasising it's an expansion, not a relocation. Loyal Customers Defend Quality Regular customers came to her defence in the comments, with one stating: 'Even though she has many stalls, her noodle standards remain consistent. Every time we go, the taste remains the same. She changes the water at fixed times and doesn't reuse it all day. Her Thai crispy roast pork has become particularly popular, selling out quickly. Food enthusiasts are advised to visit early to avoid disappointment. The businesswoman is described as someone who embodies the Cantonese ideal of '出得廳堂,入得廚房' (literally 'can enter the living room, can enter the kitchen') – a phrase traditionally used to describe the perfect wife who can expertly manage both the kitchen and social spaces with equal finesse. Her success demonstrates how this age-old concept of versatility in homemaking has evolved into modern entrepreneurial prowess, seamlessly blending culinary skills with business acumen.
