But the veteran broadcaster was more shocked by Barker missing out on a seat in the Royal Box.

Barker has seldom been spotted at SW19 since calling time on her 22-year-long stint heading up the Beeb's coverage of the annual summer tennis tournament.
But cameras caught the British sports presenting icon taking in the Centre Court match on Tuesday.
Barker, 69, briefly came up on the screen after a replay of a beautifully deft shot from Spaniard Alcaraz.
But it was long enough for a stunned Castle to ask co-commentator John McEnroe: "Is that Sue Barker up there?

"Where's Sue? What is she doing up there? I didn't see her on the list."
After a brief pause in the action, cameras panned back to Barker, who was sitting in the Members' enclosure.
And Castle was seemingly taken aback by her seat for the pulsating match.
He said: "Ah, [she's in a] box. Nearly in the Royal Box.

Tennis fans were seemingly as stunned by Castle, with one writing on X: " If anybody should be in the Royal box, it's Sue Barker!"

Barker - the 1976 French Open winner - called time on her 30-year stint with the Beeb after the 2022 instalment of Wimbledon.

Ahead of her departure, she said: "What a wonderful time I've had working on some of the biggest sporting events around the world.
"I will miss it terribly, but after 30 years I feel the time is right for me.
"I've worked with the best of the best."

It was almost 2-0 soon after as Twine danced through the Blades defence and looked primed to score until Femi Seriki made a vital block. That proved important as the Blades were level in the 14th minute when they scored an excellent equaliser. Callum O'Hare threaded an incisive pass through to Campbell, who thrashed home from 12 yards. The Blades had their tails up and could easily have gone in front but Louis Barry had an effort deflected just wide, City defender Jason Knight almost scored an own goal and Harrison Burrows' drilled effort was beaten away by Radek Vitek. But, in a game where neither defence looked solid, it was City that regained the lead in the 26th minute. Twine received the ball in the middle and found McCrorie, who drilled into the bottom corner. Things got even better after the break as they extended their lead just 36 seconds into the second half when Emil Jakobsen got in down the right and teed up Mehmeti to sweep home. It was 4-1 in the 51st minute after Rhys Norrington-Davies' pass was intercepted by McCrorie and he passed to Twine, whose effort deflected off Tyler Bindon and into the net. Jakobsen should have made it five but he blazed over from close range when a loose ball fell to him. Tom Cannon and Sydie Peck were both denied as the Blades tried to reduce their arrears but they were booed by an unforgiving home crowd.

Horse rider dies after falling at fence during competition
A horse rider has died after falling at a fence during a major eventing competition. Sarah Yorke, 37, could not be saved by medical professionals after the accident at the third fence at the Aston-le-Walls Horse Trials in Northamptonshire on Friday, British Eventing said in a statement. All competition due to take place on Saturday was abandoned. Ms Yorke's horse, MGH HERA, was uninjured after being assessed by the on-site vets and walked back to the stable. British Eventing described the incident as 'a deeply difficult moment for the eventing community' and said there would be a full review of what happened. Chief executive Rosie Williams said: 'On behalf of everyone at British Eventing, I would like to express our deepest condolences to Sarah's family and friends. 'The thoughts of the entire eventing community are with them at this incredibly difficult time.'
