Lorraine Kelly says 'I should have realised' as daughter 'terrified' to share family news

Edinburgh Live7 hours ago

Lorraine Kelly has shared that she now realises she "should have realised" her daughter Rosie was expecting, despite Rosie being "terrified" to share the news.
The beloved morning TV personality joyfully embraced her role as a grandmother in September, following the birth of Rosie's baby girl, Billie. However, Rosie confessed to being "so nervous" about revealing her pregnancy to Lorraine.
Speaking to the Bedside Manners with Dr Oscar Duke podcast, Rosie recounted her anxiety, stating she wished to keep the pregnancy under wraps until after the initial 12-week period. The need to inform her family sooner arose because she was due to accompany Lorraine to Scotland when she was only eight weeks along.
Rosie, 30, shared her trepidation: "I was so scared to tell mum. Me and Steve were very much like, we want to wait the 12 weeks before we tell people. I was very much like, I need to tell my mum. I knew that I wanted to tell you before that because we were going on your book tour.
"I was going to go up with you to Scotland and I was terrified about going up still having the secret and not being able to help mum with her luggage and carrying all the books. It was like, she's going to know something's up and I can't keep it a secret, but I remember we went on a spa day and you were like, let's go in the hot tub. I was like, oh."
Lorraine, 65, replied: "I should've realized then. It was early on and I was ever so slightly chuffed. I was crying and everything. It was just lovely."
The NHS advises that pregnant women often opt to steer clear of hot tubs and saunas due to the potential risks of fainting, dehydration, or overheating, especially during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Upon hearing the news, Lorraine, who tied the knot with Steve Smith in 1992, confessed she was "so excited" about becoming a grandmother. When queried about what she would like to be called, she responded: "To be honest, I'll answer to anything, but 'Granny' I'm delighted with, I think it's the best title ever."

Lorraine has previously shared her eagerness to help out with babysitting duties for Billie whenever Rosie needs assistance, even joking that she would be available "24-7" if necessary.
In an interview with Yours magazine, she gushed: "She's just adorable. I was working when Rosie was little and I missed out on quite a lot, so it's nice to get that time again. The most important thing is your family and sometimes it takes a wee baby coming into the world to make you realise that. You know, for all the interesting things I do, the best thing that I've been doing this year is just taking her for a walk in the pram."
The TV presenter also expressed her joy at joining the "loves being in the granny club", and took the opportunity to commend Rosie's partner, Steve White.
Lorraine says she has "adopted him as my son". She praised Steve for "loving" and "taking care" of Rosie.

Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley announce new This Morning presenter

This Morning has welcomed a new presenter to the ITV daytime show. This Morning's Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley have announced the arrival of a fresh face on the ITV daytime show. Amidst several alterations, including tweaks to Lorraine Kelly's 9am show and Loose Women, the network is stirring excitement with some shake-ups. ‌ None other than ex-Love Island contestant Olivia Attwood, who has been a familiar face on Loose Women for two years, is stepping onto the This Morning stage. ‌ The 34-year-old, whose journey to stardom began in the 2017 edition of Love Island alongside Chris Hughes, has witnessed a remarkable evolution in her career, venturing from reality TV onto shows like The Only Way Is Essex and even dipping into I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! not to mention fronting documentaries, reports Wales Online. On Monday's episode, while discussing her latest series Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, Olivia spilled the beans that she'd be gracing the iconic blue sofa regularly. Ben kicked off the discussion, teasing: "We've got some big news about This Morning and you in the summer." Olivia couldn't hide her enthusiasm, declaring: "It's very exciting! I will be joining you guys on the hosting team." Then, taking her position next to Cat on the presenter's side, she confessed: "This feels more surreal now." ‌ Expressing her joy, she revealed: "It's a huge honour, I've grown up watching this show, and being a part of the daytime team with Loose Women has been the best experience and this feels very natural." She will join ranks with names like Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, and Dermot O'Leary, who step in to present when regulars Cat and Ben are away. Last year, Cat and Ben stepped into the roles held by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after Schofield exited amid a scandal involving an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague, followed by Holly's departure for personal reasons. ‌ Olivia's move to This Morning comes after ITV announced a series of shake-ups to morning programming. ITV revealed changes to their morning TV schedule which will include a trimmed-down version of Lorraine, now set to run from 9.30am to 10am, but only for 30 weeks per year on a seasonal rotation. ‌ As a result, Good Morning Britain will extend its airtime to three and a half hours, widening to four during the periods Lorraine isn't broadcasting. Furthermore, Loose Women is returning to a 30-week annual schedule, resembling its pre-2016 routine, with these alterations taking effect from January 2026. Kevin Lygo, the Head of ITV's Media and Entertainment said: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres." ‌ He added: "These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever." The popular daytime show This Morning is set to stick with its regular slot of 10am to 12.30pm on weekdays, but it's all change for the location as the programme moves to a swanky new studio in the heart of London. Lygo remarked: "I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams, and we will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition." He also reflected on the station's longstanding tradition, noting: "Daytime has been a core element of ITV's schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade." This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.

Peter Andre and Katie Price disagree over Princess, 17, career rumours

Peter Andre has candidly shared his thoughts in his weekly column about the swirling rumours that his daughter Princess might join Love Island, expressing confusion about their origin and pointing out that at 17, she's not even of legal age to apply. He wrote: "There's been a lot of talk about Princess going on Love Island, and I don't know where it came from. She's not 18 yet, so it's not even an option." The doting dad admits he would back her if she decided to join the ITV2 programme, but it's not a path he'd pick for her. "Whether she chooses to do it in the future is up to her, but of course it's every dad's nightmare," he said. "Then again, I look at people like Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, and others, and see how happy they were in their relationships that came from the show. It's about what makes Princess happy at the end of the day. I wouldn't stop her, but if she asks my opinion, I'll be honest." (Image: Karwai Tang/WireImage) Meanwhile, Katie Price has revealed on her podcast, the Katie Price Show, that she's encouraged Princess to consider joining Love Island. Chatting with her sister Sophie Price, the 47-year-old model and businesswoman disclosed her support for Princess entering the ITV2 dating series, despite her daughter's reluctance to be labelled as a 'Love Islander', reports the Mirror. Katie revealed: "Love Island starts soon. I keep saying to Princess 'Why don't you do Love Island?'" Princess, however, does not seem to be on the same page about joining the reality show as her mother is. Relaying a conversation with her sister, Katie shared that Princess expressed no interest in being pegged as a 'Love Islander'. When prompted with her mum's suggestion of participating in the dating series, Princess responded: "No... because otherwise I'll be known as a Love Islander." (Image: Princess Andre/Instagram) Princess disclosed her true aspirations saying;: "I'd love to be a TV presenter. I'd love to host something like Love Island. I wouldn't want to take part in the show as a contestant, but I'd love to be as good a host as Maya Jama." Talking about her ambitions in an exclusive shoot last year with Junior for OK!, the 16-year-old said she'd like to go on I'm a Celebrity...., but only if her brother joined her. "We'd have to do it together, but that would be fun. I'd be terrified, but that would be so iconic."
