Amy Macdonald's surprise TRNSMT set attracts hundreds of fans after new album release

High-spirited fans quickly turned the set into a massive singalong.
Amy Macdonald performed a surprise set at TRNSMT yesterday under the pseudonym Mrs Rock & Roll.
Amy, 37, arrived at the festival for the secret gig, but not so secret that fans missed out.

The open-walled tent was rammed with more people queueing up outside for the chance to catch the million-selling singer-songwriter's intimate set.

Hundreds managed to pack the Hangout in time for Amy to introduce herself as Mrs Rock & Roll before opening with her new album's title track and current single Is This What You've Been Waiting For? which the crowd quickly turned into a massive singalong.
"It's a bit sweaty in here," Amy, wearing cut off jeans and a sleeveless T-shirt, told the crowd before following up with The Hudson.
Her undercover set provided a relief for revellers who found themselves enduring dangerous heatwave conditions amid festival warnings to stay hydrated and be aware of the dangers of heatstroke.
Though for the most part fans and artists at Scotland's biggest music weekender celebrated during the hottest day of the year so far.
There were loud cheers for Mr Rock & Roll after which Amy said: "I can't hear myself think" before launching into another new track, Forward.

Rounding off her set with Slow It Down, Can You Hear Me, Pride and This Is The Life, she joined a stellar TRNSMT bill at the festival, which included main stage headliners Biffy Clyro as well as the likes of Underworld, Fontaines D.C, The Kooks, Inhaler and Jake Bugg.
Up to 50,000 music fans are likely to attend the festival again today, for headline sets by Snow Patrol and Shed Seven.

After parents complaints over security guards confiscating suncream at the site entrance due to site policy regarding bottle sizes and aerosols, the rule was rescinded.
A festival spokesperson said: "In line with our prohibited items list, fans were previously permitted to bring small, travel-sized sunscreen into the festival. Following feedback and in response to the ongoing warm weather, we have updated this guidance.
"Fans are now allowed – and encouraged – to bring sun cream of any size to apply throughout the day. Free sun cream will continue to be available at our help and welfare points for anyone who needs it."

Media and communications graduate Claire Monaghan, 21, from Balloch, was among those enjoying the music and the weather.
She said: 'I've been going to TRNSMT since I was 14. Obviously, it's local so it's good and the Scottish community feeling of everyone being united. Also, the line up is so good.
'They've managed to hit it out of the park. I love Fontaines D.C. I'd much rather this heat than rain.'
