Smriti Irani celebrates Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2's high TRP, saying they've set the benchmark and have no competition but themselves after 25 years.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 aired last week on Star Plus, and with just a week of its premiere, it has beaten many and taken a mind-blowing start with a TRP of 2.3 in its first week, while the first episode TRP was 2.5. The show has reportedly defeated the famous Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa in the TRP race, and now, with the audience giving love to the show, Smriti has reacted to the high TRP.
Recently, during an interview with Filmibeat, when Smriti Irani was asked about feeling pressure regarding TRP, the actress-politician said, 'I think we have set the benchmark. So, there's nobody else to compete with but us. But I also understand that when we began the show (25 years ago), there was no social media, there was no OTT, there was no fragmented audience, we had no PR, we had no hoarding, we had no Instagram to tell our viewers what is upcoming or who is in the cast. Nobody had any followers anywhere. So, to have our hands tied behind and still manage to give such an excellent product, for that time, was historical."
'Today's history has been created because there are no shows that can come back after 25 years and still be successful with the same cast, with the same production house, on the same network. So, I think we have managed to recreate history. For us today, we are free from the pressures of revenue or numbers because we have already proven our mark," she added.

The new season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi premiered on small screens on Star Plus on July 29 at 10:30 pm. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, the daily soap brings back the OG cast, including Smriti Irani, Shakti Anand, Ketki Dave, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, and Amar Upadhyay. Joining them are fresh faces like Shagun Sharma, Aman Gandhi, and Rohit Suchanti.
The first season had approximately 1,833 episodes, making it one of the longest-running shows at the time, but Kyunki 2 is said to feature a limited number of episodes.
