vivo X Fold5 teased once more with official image and some display specs
The vivo X Fold5 will reportedly launch on July 10. Тhere's no official confirmation of the announcement date, but judging by the frequency of the teasers lately, the debut is definitely near. The latest official teaser contains a full-frontal image of the upcoming foldable.
The teaser image isn't particularly revealing as it only shows the internal display, and it's hard to determine how thick the bezels are. But the picture does show a new physical button on the left side, likely replacing the mute switch from the previous generation.
The teaser also cites LTPO 8T displays on the inside and outside, 4,500 nits of peak brightness, high-frequency PWM dimming for less stress on your eyes and Zeiss Master Color calibration for more accurate color reproduction and consistency across both displays.
The vivo X Fold5 shapes up to be an impressive foldable, especially considering the unprecedented dust and water resistance and the slim profile.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500's announcement date tipped
Qualcomm is unveiling the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in late September, and its main competitor will undoubtedly be MediaTek's Dimensity 9500. With that in mind, you may have been wondering when to expect it to be announced. According to a new rumor from the prolific Chinese leaker who goes by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, MediaTek will one-up Qualcomm by unveiling its next flagship chipset even earlier. Chinese smartphone makers are expected to then introduce their next-gen flagship devices (the ones that usually come in October to December) quite quickly after the chips take the stage - most could actually become official by the end of September. If true, September is going to be a very, very busy month in the mobile world - let's not forget Apple's new iPhones are coming then as well. So for some Android brands, their current flagship devices will only have been for sale (in China at least) for 9-10 months before their successors get introduced. It remains to be seen how the buyers of those phones will take all of this. Source (in Chinese)

The latest Galaxy S25 update hides a big hint
Samsung has launched the June 2025 security update for Galaxy S25 series phones. The update might seem insignificant at first, but hides an important change that may be part of the groundwork preparations for One UI 8. The Galaxy S25's June update is live in Version: S938NKSS4AYE5/S938NOKR4AYE5/S938NKSS4AYE5 The bootloader is updated to v4; now we can expect One UI 8 beta 2. — Tarun Vats (@tarunvats33) June 10, 2025 The security update has first started rolling out in South Korea, but we fully expect it will expand to more regions soon. It includes the usual security patches and minor stability improvements. However, it also upgrades the bootloader version on all Galaxy S25 models — including the Galaxy S25 , Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra — to version 4. This might sound like a small modification, it essentially locks the devices into a new firmware branch, one that aligns with Samsung's internal testing for One UI 8. That said, the update does not add any One UI 8 features at present, but it does indicate Samsung is getting near its upcoming software will base One UI 8 on Android 16 (which Google just teased) while planning its release for July together with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. This approach allows Samsung to follow its standard annual schedule for major One UI updates during mid-year. Samsung launched the One UI 8 beta early. | Image credit — PhoneArena" Samsung will launch One UI 8.0 as its eighth major software update, which — as is the case with software updates nowadays — will focus on incremental improvements rather than fundamental changes. According to early hands-on reports, One UI 8 includes subtle UI modifications like encircled buttons in pop-out menus in apps such as Gallery, but otherwise looks nearly identical to One UI 7. The focus this year seems to be fine-tuning and improving consistency, rather than redesigning the of the more notable additions is Now Brief, a Galaxy AI feature that provides personalized suggestions and reminders based on user routines. Previously limited to the Galaxy S25 , this feature will now reach more devices thanks to One UI 8. Through this update, Samsung will transfer its latest flagship features to different devices. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 phones will obtain log video recording capability through this update, which is currently only available in the Galaxy S25 series. One UI 8 introduces the following features in addition to AI and camera improvements: Quick Share file sharing becomes more accessible through its updated functionality. file sharing becomes more accessible through its updated functionality. The new calendar system features smarter tools for managing reminders and scheduling events . The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be the first to receive the update, before it reaches the Galaxy S25 series and later on the mid-range and budget Galaxy phones. The bootloader switch has been activated, and internal testing is complete, so Galaxy S25 users will see One UI 8 signs arrive soon.

Honor Magic V5 to come in a shiny new color
Honor is rumored to be skipping the number 4 and going from the Magic V3 which launched last year to the Magic V5 which we're expecting in a few weeks (blame tetraphobia). Now a new rumor out of China purportedly shares the Magic V5's colorways, and one stands out - gold. It used to be all the rage many years ago, then it fell out of fashion, and while you can still find hints of it here and there, it's been a while since we've had a properly shiny gold smartphone. Honor Magic V3 Aside from the blingy colorway, there will also be three other options: black, white, and Dunhuang, which is interesting because it's the name of a city. A past leak from the same source claimed the Magic V5 would come with a 6,100 mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging. Other rumors have said it would be under 9 mm thick, retaking the thinness crown from the Oppo Find N5, and it should come with a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera apparently, an 8-inch folding screen, a 6.45-inch cover display, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC at the helm.
