Lachlan Turner wins Thunder Valley Women's Pro Motocross, extends points lead
"I love the rough tracks," Turner told Peacock's Jason Thomas after the race. "The rougher, the better. But they did smooth out the track a lot. It was fun battling with Charli. It was amazing."

In one of the most competitive WMX races of the season, Cannon's early pace and Turner's charge separated the two riders from the field. Cannon beat Kyleigh Stalling into the first turn with Turner and Mikayla Nielsen in tow before two separate battles for the podium developed.
As they pushed one another to faster speeds, Cannon and Turner amassed a significant lead over the Stalling versus Nielsen battle. For the first five laps, Cannon matched Turner's pace, but after being slowed in the heavy ruts that developed with a full day's activity, Cannon lost eight seconds over the next two laps.
"That was a tough one," Cannon told Will Christien. "Not riding during the week (due to finger surgery five days before the season opener), really shows. I kind of died a bit. The first few laps were good, a couple of good battles with LaLa, but my hand started falling off the handlebars in the rough bumps. That made it tricky, but considering I have a broken finger and my lack of bike time, I'm happy with second."

This battle pitted last year's American Women's Pro Motocross (WMX) champion against Australia's women's champion.
Fireworks developed on the final lap when Stallings attempted to take the final podium position from Round 1 winner Nielsen. Stallings dove to the inside and made contact with Nielsen on the steepest uphill section of the track. Both riders fell, and given the severity of the incline, it took them a minute to get their bikes upright.
Riding with injuries from last week's round in Hangtown, a surprised Jordan Jarvis passed the two downed riders, noting that Nielsen was remounting her Honda as she blasted between the two bikes. That was all the encouragement Jarvis needed to beat Nielsen to the line by two seconds.

Incredibly, the rider who began the weekend with a cast on her left hand, Jarvis, secured the final podium position.
"I had some bad luck last week, getting landed on," Jarvis said. "I'm not feeling great right now, by any means, but I was able to stay just close enough to be able to capitalize on their mistake. I'm not entirely sure what happened. Not the way I wanted to podium, but I'll take it."
Nielsen finished fourth with Jamie Astudillo rounding out the top five.
Stallings finished just outside that mark in sixth.

Three of the Lakers' NBA Cup group play games have been announced
As part of the NBA's new media deal that will kick in for this coming season, a number of Emirates NBA Cup games will be shown on Amazon Prime Video, including the final game that will determine the winner of the competition. On Wednesday, one day before the full schedule for the 2025-26 campaign will be released, the league unveiled all group play games that will be shown on national television. Most of them will be broadcast on Amazon Prime, but a few others can be seen on either ESPN or Peacock. Three of those contests involve the Los Angeles Lakers. They will play the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 31, the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 25 and the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 28. All games that comprise the knockout rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup in December will be shown on Prime Video. The quarterfinal round will take place on Dec. 9 and Dec. 10, the semifinals will be on Dec. 13 and the final round will be held on Dec. 16. As was the case in the previous two seasons, both the semifinal and final rounds will take place in Las Vegas.

NBA Cup schedule announced with games starting Oct. 31, some on NBC and Peacock
Both times the NBA Cup has been lifted, it has been by one of the legends of the game — LeBron James in 2023 and Giannis Antetokounmpo last year. The NBA Cup can also tell us something about teams we may want to keep an eye on in May and June. Last December, the Oklahoma City Thunder were playing in the NBA Cup Finals (but had an off night and fell to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks; they were ready for the big stage by the time June rolled around). Two years ago, the Indiana Pacers, an up-and-coming team, reached the NBA Cup Finals, where they lost to the Lakers. However, they used the momentum from that run to reach the Eastern Conference Finals that year, then the NBA Finals this past season. The NBA Cup schedule has been released, with games starting on Oct. 31 and running through December, with some of them on NBC and streaming on Peacock. Jalek Swoll (thumb, calf) out for the remainder of the 2025 SuperMotocross season
Jalek Swoll will sit out the remainder of the 2025 season after further aggravating a thumb injury and tearing a calf muscle at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in Round 9 of the Pro Motocross season. 'Unfortunately in qualifying over the weekend I tore my calf, no crash or dab in a corner just landed a jump and boom,' Swoll posted on social media. 'We assume it was just weak from when I did my Achilles and in that case there's nothing I could've done, between my thumb injury and not being able to practice during my time racing and now tearing my calf it's been tough and I can proudly say my body has had enough before I did. ... With that being said, me and the team have decided to sit out the rest of the year to get healed and ready to contend in 2026. 'Very proud of myself and the team for helping me get back to being competitive and on the box in such [a] short amount of time, the effort is there and excited to dog this offseason out. [S]ee you soon.' The calf injury will not require surgery, but rest is necessary to allow it to heal. Dan Beaver, 'Jalek has unfortunately sustained a calf muscle injury,' said Jeremy Coker, General Manager, Triumph Racing America. 'While the good part is that it doesn't require surgery, it is unfortunately one of those things that just takes time. With that being said, the team and Jalek have decided it is best for him to sit out the rest of the year and focus on being 100% for the 2026 season. Jalek had just started to show his true potential, and I am absolutely gutted for him. I do know that he will put his best foot forward and come back even stronger in 2026.' Swoll injured his Achilles tendon in practice prior to the start of the Monster Energy Supercross 250 West season opener and missed the entire SX season. He returned in Round 3 of the Pro Motocross season to finish 10th in the High Point National in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. Two rounds later, he shocked the field with a runner-up finish in RedBud. Despite his calf injury last weekend, Swoll had a strong start in Moto 1 at Ironman and finished 10th. He collided with another rider and then pulled off track early in Moto 2. Swoll did not earn any points in that race, resulting in a 16th-place finish overall.
