RuneScape: Dragonwilds Spin-Off Game Surprise Drops In Early Access

Today, Jagex surprised everyone by surprise releasing RuneScape: Dragonwilds after initially announcing the game only two weeks ago. Dragondwilds is an open world survival crafting spin-off game set in the RuneScape universe, but it's not an MMO. Instead, you can play solo or online cooperatively with up to three other friends. This hybrid approach to solo or co-op in an open world survival environment is similar to other such games like Valheim, LEGO Fortnite, Enshrouded, and several other survival games.
In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, players are whisked away to a 'forgotten continent' known as Ashenfall. You find yourself stranded and in need of resources as you set off to build shelter and craft equipment. As it turns out, dragons have awoken in this strange new land so you've got to complete quests, improve your gear and skills, and take on the rising threat.
The setup is pretty standard stuff, but the bright, colorful art style and signature RuneScape whimsy is the real appeal. As a spin-off of the main MMORPG, there will undoubtedly be familiar elements for longtime fans, but it's aiming to also serve as a great new entry in the open world survival crafting genre.
I haven't tried RuneScape: Dragonwilds for myself just yet, but I'm eager to hop in there and see what it's like. The high fantasy setting is extremely appealing to me for this type of game since most others lean on a darker fantasy setting. I like color and distinct personality in my magical worlds.

Jagex states that RuneScape: Dragonwilds first began alpha testing in late 2024, so they've already got around half a year of player feedback in the pipeline. The page estimates it may be ready for full 1.0 release in early 2026, but also states it will remain in Early Access 'as long as it takes' so don't consider that a hard and fast promise. Player involvement and feedback should be key parts of the development process, just as they are for the studio's other games.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is out now in Steam Early Access and available for purchase.

The Elmo Open to Work site launched as Trump has aimed to pull all federal funding from PBS and other public media orgs. On June 3, the Trump administration formally sent Congress a 'rescission' request to claw back nearly $1.1 billion in federal funds that had already been approved over the next two years for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides funding to local NPR and PBS stations. Congress has a 45-day window (until July 18) to either approve or ignore the proposal. Meanwhile, PBS and NPR have both sued Trump and other White House officials over his May 1 executive order instructing the CPB to cease funding them to the 'maximum extent allowed by law.' Three CPB board members have sued Trump to try to block his attempt to fire them. To be sure, PBS and 'Sesame Street' aren't completely high and dry. First, federal funding is only a small portion of their overall budgets. In addition, Sesame Workshop recently announced a new deal with Netflix, giving the streamer exclusive worldwide premiere rights to 'Sesame Street' starting with Season 56 later this year. Netflix also gained rights to 90 hours of past episodes of the show and will also be able to develop video games for both 'Sesame Street' and 'Sesame Street Mecha Builders.' The Elmo Open to Work site, like the original viral LinkedIn post, is the brainchild of Mary Adam, a senior copywriter at ad agency Leo Burnett. Adam said she's doing this without any involvement with Sesame Workshop or PBS: 'I'm just doing this on my own to help save PBS.' The new site lets visitors create profile pictures for people to show support for their favorite PBS character, and it features resumes for people to apply for jobs as PBS characters. About the original LinkedIn post, Adam said the service removed the account 'because they said Elmo is a fake character and only real humans can have a LinkedIn.' A rep for Sesame Workshop didn't immediately respond to a request for comment about Elmo Open to Work. In an earlier statement about Trump's proposed funding cuts, the organization said, 'Sesame Workshop and PBS have a shared commitment to using the power of public television to bring critical early learning to children across the country… We remain firmly in support of the vital public investment that allows PBS to continue this important work.' Adam said the site is a side project outside of work. She's being assisted by Leo Burnett colleagues Kyle Poff, George Apfelbach and Lucy Brizzolara, and Kevin McGlone of independent agency HoneyWired. NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Saturday, June 7

You can find them here: Well, this was an unusually tough Connections today if you ask me, and I did quite poorly. I imagine you might need some clues or answers if you've arrived here, and we can all mourn our failures together. Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. So, onto the hints and answers: These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. The hints for the Connections groups today are: Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: Yeah, I failed this one. I really tried, but it was the Blue Group that tripped me up this time, and I'm still not entirely sure what's going on with that group, to be honest, as it ended up being the default fill once others were solved, and purple stumped me too. A ditty is a short song but I'm having trouble connecting it to that group even now. Purple Group was also difficult to some extent. Spring CHICKEN, EQUINOX and FLING were easy enough, but I genuinely don't know what a spring ONION is and it lost me there, unfortunately. I thought the Green and Yellow Groups were easier than normal this time around. HYDRATE, REST and STRETCH were clearly a trio, and BREATHE eventually came naturally. FOUND, LAUNCH and START were the first ones I grabbed before realizing that INSTITUTE should be in there as well. This was a tough one!
