Company To Injured Delivery Agent Who Met With An Accident On A Rainy Day: ‘Can't Reassign Your Orders'

The delivery explained to the Grab support staff that he was injured and asked them to reassign the order, the rider claimed the team showed no care. A Grab delivery agent in Singapore raised serious concerns about the way his company treated him after he got injured on duty. The man explained to the support staff that he was injured while riding his bike in the rain. The accident left him with a deep cut on his leg, due to which it became impossible for him to continue his deliveries and asked them to reassign the order. Instead of getting support, the delivery guy claimed the team showed no care and told him that the deliveries could not be reassigned. To his surprise, they even asked why he had accepted them in the first place. Grab Support Team Refuses To Reassign Orders: As per Mothership reports, when the injured delivery rider asked Grab's support team to shift the pending orders to someone else, the response he received left him upset. The team member told him, 'Thank you for informing us about your situation. However, if you were already aware of your injury and the rainy, slippery conditions, why did you go online and accept jobs? I sincerely apologise, but we are unable to reassign your order. If you wish to cancel, you will need to do so on your end." The delivery agent felt that the tone of the support staff was rude and explained that he had not accepted the orders himself, as the app automatically does it. After hearing this, the support executive said sorry and replied, 'I sincerely apologise, but we are unable to assist you with reassigning the order. I deeply regret any inconvenience caused." The rider, who chose not to reveal his name, shared that the accident happened on August 17, around 8 pm, when the weather was very bad. He had just dropped an order and was leaving the area on his bicycle when he slipped and got hurt. The fall left him with a 3 cm cut on his calf. When he looked at his Grab driver app, he noticed that two more orders were automatically assigned to him. The delivery agent explained that the new orders were automatically assigned to him through the Grab app's 'Auto Accept" feature, which meant he had no option to reject them. He added that most riders keep this option on because it helps them get continuous orders without accepting each one manually. In the end, one of the customers cancelled their order, while the rider cancelled the second order himself. The injured rider also pointed out that if he was able to complete both orders, he would have earned 8 Singapore Dollars (approximately Rs 500). view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. China-Pakistan Ties Strong, Not Aimed At Any Third Party: Wang Yi In Islamabad

Wang Yi stresses strong China-Pakistan partnership and cooperation at the Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday reaffirmed the durability of Beijing's partnership with Islamabad, declaring that the relationship had 'withstood the test of time" and was not directed against any third country. Speaking in the Pakistani capital, Wang Yi said, 'China and Pakistan's partnership is not targeted at any third party. I have visited three countries, and Pakistan is the final stop. All countries in South Asia share history. China and South Asian countries are close neighbours, and we should accelerate development together." Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad on August 21 for a two-day visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. He is co-chairing the sixth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue and meeting Pakistan's civil and military leadership to discuss bilateral relations as well as key regional and international issues. According to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is part of regular high-level exchanges aimed at deepening the 'All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership." Talks will focus on strengthening economic and trade cooperation, reaffirming support on core interests, and consolidating a joint commitment to regional peace, development and stability. In New Delhi, Wang Yi urged India and China to view each other as 'partners" rather than 'adversaries or threats." He also met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, marking only the second high-level meeting between the two sides since deadly clashes in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh in 2020. Describing relations as moving on a 'positive trend" towards cooperation, Wang Yi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also joined delegation-level talks with NSA Ajit Doval. 'We are happy to share that stability has now been restored at the borders," Wang Yi said, adding, 'The setbacks we faced in the last few years were not in our interest." view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Rupee falls 18 paise to close at 87.25 against US dollar

Agency: Last Updated: Mumbai, Aug 21 (PTI) The rupee pared initial gains and settled for the day lower by 18 paise at 87.25 (provisional) against US dollar on Thursday, on a strong American currency and a recovery in crude oil prices. Forex traders said, rupee opened on a positive note with the rise in risk appetite in the global markets amid easing tensions over trade tariffs and hopes of truce between Russia and Ukraine. However, the strength of the American currency in the overseas market and rising crude oil prices dented investor sentiments and restricted the upmove in the local unit. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened on a positive note at 87.04, then touched an early high of 86.93 and an intraday low of 87.27 against the US dollar. The domestic unit settled for the day at 87.25 (provisional), registering a decline of 18 paise over its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee settled on a higher note at 87.07 against the US dollar. The Indian rupee lost early gains on positive crude oil prices and positive US dollar index. However, rise in the domestic markets supported the rupee at lower levels, said Anuj Chaudhary, Research Analyst, Commodities and Currencies, Mirae Asset Sharekhan. 'We expect the rupee to trade with a positive bias on improved global risk sentiments and fading worries over trade tariffs. Optimism over GST reforms may also support the rupee. 'However, dollar demand from importers capped sharp upside. Investors may now focus on the Jackson Hole Symposium. Traders may take cues from weekly unemployment claims and PMI data from the US. USD-INR spot price is expected to trade in a range of 86.90 to 87.50," Chaudhary added. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, gained 0.02 per cent to 98.23. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, was trading 0.90 per cent higher at USD 67.44 per barrel in futures trade, as investors remained focused on the Ukraine peace push and sanctions on Russia remaining in place for now. Traders are focussed on whether US Fed Chief Jerome Powell will push back against market expectations for a rate cut on the September 16-17 meeting when he speaks at the Jackson Hole Symposium on Friday. On the domestic equity market front, stock markets advanced for the sixth consecutive day with Sensex settling for the day with gains of 142.87 points at 82,000.71, while Nifty was up by 33.20 points at 25,083.75. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 1,100.09 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data.
