The oil palm plantation group said revenue also rose to RM268.77mil from RM252.52mil previously. KUALA LUMPUR: TSH Resources Bhd reported a higher net profit of RM49.23mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2025 (2Q25) from RM20.63mil in the same period last year, supported by improved productivity and higher palm product prices. For the first half of 2025 (1H25), net profit more than doubled to RM97.42mil against RM40.70mil in the corresponding period last year, while revenue increased to RM544.10mil from RM494.90mil previously. Dialog quarterly net profit up 6.5% to RM147mil
The improved profitability in 4Q25 was due to contributions from both Malaysia and international operations. PETALING JAYA: Dialog Group Bhd will be keeping its focus while pursuing its long-term strategies as its business model is structured to sustain it through periods of oil price volatility and currency movements. According to Dialog, its core business remained intact as the group realigned its focus to prioritise key competencies across its upstream, midstream and downstream business segments. For the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2025 (4Q25), Dialog's net profit grew 6.5% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM147.4mil despite a 24.9% fall in revenue to RM608.3mil. The improved profitability in 4Q25 was due to contributions from both Malaysia and international operations, as well as share of profits from the group's joint ventures and associates. 'Within Malaysia, performance was driven primarily by midstream operations which reported increased earnings from healthy tank storage occupancy. 'The current quarter also saw positive contributions from the downstream operations driven by cost optimisation initiatives and completion of some projects,' it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia. On the international front, the group said revenue and earnings achieved in 4Q25 were lower due to reduced business activities. Furthermore, the sale completion of its entire 60% equity interest in Dialog Jubail Supply Base during the quarter also drove international operations earnings and revenue lower. On the other hand, net profit for FY25 plunged 47.2% y-o-y to RM303.8mil as revenue declined by 20.6% to RM2.5bil. Dialog attributed this primarily to the loss after tax reported in 2Q25, largely due to the one-off impairments in petrochemical and renewable projects, as well as engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning projects cost overruns. 'In addition, the group's bottom line for the current financial year was also impacted by a reduced share of profits of joint ventures and associates. 'This was mainly attributable to the share of losses incurred by a joint venture company involved in the production of food grade recycled polyethylene terephthalate pellets. This joint venture company has since ceased production,' it said. Compared with the preceding three months ended March 31, Dialog saw revenue improving 5.1% from RM578.8mil which led to net profit growing by 9.2% from RM135mil. The group credited the better sequential performance to higher contributions from joint ventures and associates. Dialog proposed a dividend of 1.8 sen a share for 4Q25, bringing total dividends declared for the year to 3.1 sen per share.

Trump raises pressure on central bank, calls for Fed governor to resign
WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump ramped up pressure on the US central bank Wednesday, calling for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to step down – after his recent criticism of Fed Chair Jerome Powell for not lowering interest rates sooner. "Cook must resign, now!!!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, while sharing a Bloomberg news report on how the Federal Housing Finance Agency's director has called for greater scrutiny of Cook over a pair of mortgages. FHFA director Bill Pulte – a staunch ally of Trump – had reportedly written a letter to the US attorney general calling for an investigation of Cook while suggesting that she might have committed a criminal offense. The Trump administration has pursued allegations of mortgage fraud against high-profile Democrats who are seen as political adversaries of the president. It was not immediately clear if such a probe will take place targeting Cook, the first Black woman to serve on the central bank's board. The president is also limited in his ability to remove officials from the central bank. A Supreme Court order recently suggested that Fed officials cannot be taken out of their jobs over policy disagreements, meaning they have to be removed for "cause," which could be interpreted to mean wrongdoing. The US leader's targeting of Cook, who sits on the Fed's rate-setting committee, comes after his repeated broadsides against Powell while the central bank kept the benchmark lending rate unchanged this year. On Tuesday night, Trump again called for a "major rate cut," saying there was "no inflation" and claiming that the Fed's policymaking was harming the housing industry due to elevated mortgage rates. He called Powell "a disaster" in a social media post. Although the US consumer price index, a key inflation gauge, was steady at 2.7 per cent in July, it remains higher than it was a few months earlier. Fed officials have been trying to ensure inflation is kept in check – despite the effects of Trump's sweeping tariffs – while balancing risks to the labor market as they mull the right time for further rate cuts. Cook took office as a Fed governor in May 2022 and was reappointed to the board in September 2023. She was sworn in later that same month for a term ending in 2038. She has previously served on the Council of Economic Advisers under former president Barack Obama. Earlier this year, Trump suggested that what he called an overly costly renovation of the Fed's headquarters could be a reason to oust Powell, before backing off the threat. Powell's term as Fed chair ends in May 2026. —AFP
