HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath evaluated lake rejuvenation work during field visits to advance water body conservation projects in Hyderabad.
The commissioner checked Bathukamma Kunta revival in Amberpet as well as Bum-Rukn-ud-Daula located in the Old City. The community recognizes HYDRAA for their work on transforming nearby lakes.
The HYDRAA Commissioner highlighted the need to restore lakes for flood control purposes and to develop them into both ecological resources and recreational spaces for the city.

Ranganath examined Bathukamma Kunta's condition and checked the engineered rainwater channels at both entry and exit points. Near the lake he observed the diversion works which separated stormwater from sewage lines. The Bathukamma festival showed their deep gratitude towards the restoration project which they described as "a breath of new life" for their area.
Residents saw the return of migratory birds and waterfowl as evidence of ecological recovery and asked for a new community hall to be built near the lake. The Commissioner promised the community that their suggestion would undergo evaluation.
Warning on illegal dumping along Musi River
The Commissioner responded to allegations about unauthorized soil dumping along the Musi riverbed by stating that the culprits were given warnings and instructed to remove the debris within seven days. If violators do not remove the soil within the specified time frame they will face legal proceedings and formal charges.
The Bum-Rukn-ud-Daula lake will be brought back to its full original size.
Ranganath made an inspection trip to Bum-Rukn-ud-Daula located within the Old City. The lake which originally covered 18 acres has lost nearly half its area to encroachment and debris accumulation. The HYDRAA team continues its restoration efforts for the community lake project by removing soil buildup to retrieve the lost area and expand it to its original dimensions.
Plans for public parks and walking paths
HYDRAA is creating walking tracks, children's play areas and green spaces around the lakes as part of their rejuvenation efforts. According to Commissioner Ranganath the restoration project aims to protect water bodies while creating dynamic public spaces for residents.

Kavitha is a 'BJP arrow; Madhuyashki Goud
Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) Telangana Congress Campaign Committee Chairman and former MP Madhuyashki Goud launched a scathing attack on BRS MLC K. Kavitha, alleging deep-rooted corruption and political collusion with the BJP. Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday, Goud alleged that Kavitha acted like a "lady mafia don" and described her as "an arrow dropped by the BJP". He accused her of being involved in various scams, and claimed she was seeking BJP's support to escape legal action in these cases. He further alleged that Kavitha misused the Bathukamma cultural platform for political mileage and to protect illicit funds. Goud called for a probe into the functioning of her organisation, Telangana Jagruthi, claiming it was used as a front for financial dealings, including collecting money from firms like Phoenix. He also targeted Kavitha's father, BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), calling him 'the ghost of Telangana' and alleging that the KCR family amassed wealth under the guise of the Telangana movement. He questioned the source of Kavitha's personal wealth and claimed Jagruthi was never handed over to BCs, despite her vocal support for backward classes. Accusing Kavitha of working under the directions of BJP leaders Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Goud alleged that the so-called "BRS Week" only benefited the BJP. He also claimed that KCR and his family, including Minister K T Rama Rao, held investments abroad and that KTR's foreign trips were meant to manage these assets. Referring to the Congress party's role in the formation of Telangana, Goud stated that if Sonia Gandhi had not granted statehood, KCR and his family would not have had political relevance today. Kavitha asks poets to raise voice on injustices and shortcomings
Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday called upon the poets and literary figures to highlight shortcomings in governance, reminding that there is the nature of questioning in Telangana land itself. She participated in the 'Yuva Keratalu Kavi Sammelan' organised by Telangana Jagruti on Monday at Telangana Saraswatha Parishad in Abids on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day. She reminded that Telangana Jagruti had worked to ensure that the cultural heritage, glory and uniqueness of Telangana will last for hundreds of years only if young children learn Bathukamma songs. Kavitha said that Telangana literature would flourish for hundreds of years with the works of young poets. She said that poets under the age of 35 participated in this gathering and recited poems. 'KCR stood like a compass and a beacon and guided the movement. Today is the day when he achieved a separate Telangana state with the struggles he waged and the sacrifices of hundreds of people,' she said, adding that poets should not bow down before any ruler. They should always point out the shortcomings in the administration. She suggested that poets and literary figures should do this work regardless of who is in the position of the ruler. 'A poet is one who fearlessly tells the truth under any circumstances. Poets and literary figures have wonderfully narrated the struggle for a separate Telangana state, the sacrifices of the martyrs, and the betrayal of this region in the undivided state,' said Kavitha.
