Livvy Dunne left in tears after life-changing decision

Daily Mail22-04-2025

Livvy Dunne could be seen shedding a tear as she officially bid farewell to gymnastics in an emotional video after announcing her retirement.
Dunne, who had long been expected to hang up her leotard once her eligibility with the Tigers ended, revealed last week that her gymnastics career is over after LSU's national title bid ended in defeat.
The TikTok sensation had five seasons with LSU, instead of the traditional four, due to being in Baton Rogue during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now she will enter the real world with LSU's season over, bringing an end to her 20-year journey in the sport.
After calling it quits, Livvy sat down to look back through some of her career highlights as part of a farewell video put together by the Tigers, which eventually left her in tears as the emotions took their toll.
'Time flies when you're having fun,' Dunne narrates in the video, with 'What Was I Made For?' by Billie Eilish playing in the background. 'Something said when you're enjoying yourself to the point time seems to slip away from you. And that's exactly how the past 20 years in this sport have felt.'
'The highs, the lows, making the USA national team and competing for our country, every risk was worth the reward. Finishing my career over the past five years of the best university in the world has been an incredible journey, and I'm forever grateful.'
'Gymnastics, you have filled my heart and shaped be a part of me. You've shaped me into the person I am today, creating memories and sisterhoods that will last a life support. You are my first love.
'To my family, especially my parents. Thank you for everything, for supporting me through it all, and to my childhood coaches from New Jersey and the LSU coaching staff, thank you for pushing me to be great. and yes, time did fly by, and I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life.
'Thank you for everything gymnastics. You were so good to me.'
After the footage concluded inside the PMAC, Dunne was visibly emotional, knowing her athletic journey had reached its end.
Dunne became one of the faces of college sports during the NIL era as one of the top earners, regardless of gender.
She had an NIL evaluation of more than $4million, per On3Sports, which is more than double that of the current highest-earner, fellow LSU star Flau'jae Johnson.
Now the social-media beauty can start her professional career, expanding on the NIL deals she had not under the NCAA's umbrella.

NYC influencer is roasted for her aquatic-inspired purse... would YOU wear it?

A popular NYC influencer has divided the internet after sharing her aquatic-inspired purse. Halley Kate McGookin, who has 1.5million followers on TikTok, took to her page on June 5 to showcase her new purchase - a massive fish-shaped handbag. McGookin, who describes herself as ' funnier on TikTok, prettier on Insta,' called the $395 purse a 'beach bag,' but quickly clarified it could really work 'whenever' because it 'fits a lot.' The bag is made by STAUD, a clothing brand founded by American fashion designer Sarah Staudinger. She paired the unique bag with a $550 STAUD black silk dress with colorful sardines all over it and a lace trim along the chest. 'This for like a little Hamptons summer moment.... literally no notes,' she said, adding that she wouldn't be wearing the dress and bag together 'because that might be a little bit much.' Despite the influencer's clear enthusiasm about her new items, online users were not at all impressed with the fish-themed tote as one said it resembled 'a papier mache project.' 'Lmao those look like they came from temu,' another wrote on Reddit. 'People will buy anything if it's designer.' 'Oh the dress is great but please donate the bag,' wrote someone else. 'Money can't buy taste, as they say,' another chimed in. A commenter simply asked: 'WHAT is this?!?!?!?' seemingly perplexed by her accessory choice. While many people appeared to dislike the bag, some shared they were in favor of it. 'I'm a sucker for an animal shaped bag tbh lol,' a user said. 'Okay the fish bag is the moment,' said another. Someone else wrote: 'Obsessed looks so good.' 'Tbh if I had the money I'd be buying all of these bags too they're fun,' another said. The bag also comes in a smaller size for $295, according to the website. McGookin, who grew up in Virginia, is no stranger to criticism over her looks as she was recently slammed for a 'skid mark' manicure design she chose to go with in March. She was brutally mocked online after she showed off her manicure, calling it 'The best nails I've ever done.' Viewers were quick to point out the design looked more like 'blood stains' and 'skid marks' than a cute puppy - while many also mistook it for a brutal injury. In the clip, Halley said: 'Actually freaking out today. I took my busted nails from this to this. I never do designs on my nails, but I am so obsessed.' She continued, explaining she had visited Gilded Ritual salon for a 'Russian manicure' with hard gel, praising how the technique leaves 'cuticles non-existent.' 'The nail tech was so awesome and helped me pick out the right color to make sure we got Rusty all perfect on my nails. Obsessed with Russian manicures because the attention to detail like your cuticles are non existent after getting one. 'Just did a really simple nude color as my base and then I broke two of my nails so she added an extension so fast and she did the design so fast as well. She painted on the little dog,' she said. Viewers quickly mocked her over the design, as one said: 'The left nail looks like a skid mark.'
