DWF Ventures Report Reveals $76B Crypto Treasury Investment by Public Companies
In the past year, DWF Ventures has noted investments of more than $40B made by public companies. It pinpoints a total of 14 such companies that now have significant crypto treasuries. Aside from the Michael Saylor-led Strategy with its $67B investment, DWF Ventures cites public companies such as Trump Media, GameStop, Metaplanet, Tesla, and Semler Scientific.
The report examines the different ways in which publicly listed companies can raise capital and deploy crypto treasuries. Examples include Private Investment in Public Equity (PIPE); At-The-Market (ATM) Equity Sales; Credit Facility; Reverse Merger; and Company Treasury. It notes the popularity of PIPE and convertible notes as used by the likes of Trump Media, Interactive Strength, and GameStop.
DWF Ventures also explores the crypto assets that public companies have elected to acquire. Bitcoin predictably dominates, but it highlights examples of companies that have established altcoin treasuries. These include Nano Labs (BNB) as well as companies investing in ETH, SOL, SUI, and TRX.
One of the more interesting deals that was examined as a case study is Tron's reverse merger. This will effectively see Tron go public in the U.S. through a reverse merger with Nasdaq-listed SRM Entertainment Inc. (SRM). SRM Entertainment has also entered into a $100 million equity agreement to fund its Tron treasury.
The report concludes: 'Building on our recent investment in Interactive Strength (TRNR) for the FET treasury, DWF Labs is actively exploring further opportunities within the US equity market. The company is keen to engage in similar structured deals moving forward.'

Trump's regulatory reset leaves crypto privacy tools like Tornado Cash in the lurch
Sometimes, amid the memecoins and pay-for-access scandals, it can be difficult to remember that the crypto industry was built on the principles of privacy and autonomy. The elusive Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin white paper in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, after all. Even as Wall Street swallows blockchain technology whole, the core is still a spirit of disintermediation. I joined Fortune in August 2022, the same month that the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Tornado Cash, a virtual currency mixer that allowed users to input their (very traceable) cryptocurrency holdings and receive an anonymous output. The software, predictably, became a favorite of terrorist organizations and North Korean-affiliated hacking groups, but it also embodied the cypherpunk ideology that birthed the crypto sector. OFAC's action created novel questions, such as whether a piece of code, rather than a person or organization, can be sanctioned. It also drew the ire of privacy advocates, who argued that internet users should have the right to own and send digital cash without government interference, just as offline people can with physical cash (to a degree). These, more than crypto bros trying to drive up the price of their tokens through sex toy-related stunts, are the fascinating dilemmas raised by blockchain technology, and what sets it apart from other forms of financial technology. (And as much as I hoped topics like Tornado Cash would dominate my coverage, Sam Bankman-Fried's FTX empire collapsed two months later.) A year after the sanctions, the Department of Justice brought charges against the creators of Tornado Cash, with one, Roman Storm, arrested in the United States. This was a tricky case for the crypto industry to get behind. The DOJ's indictment made clear that the founders knew their software's main utility was to help money launderers, including North Korea's Lazarus Group, and they were earning millions of dollars off the platform through their own proprietary token. In a recurring segment I like to call 'Are you taking notes on a criminal f***ing conspiracy,' one founder admitted over text that they had to relinquish control over the software to make it seem like they weren't the owners. As one former DOJ prosecutor told me at the time, 'These are pretty egregious facts.' But many powerful voices in the crypto industry, including the venture giant Paradigm, still threw their weight behind Storm, arguing that the government's case eroded the idea of privacy-preserving software and was in direct contradiction to previous guidance issued by the financial crimes division of the Treasury Department. Storm's initial trial, which was held in the same courthouse that hosted Bankman-Fried, wrapped up last week. Though he avoided two of the more serious charges, the jury still found him guilty on one, related to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. His advocates are vowing to fight it, arguing that the decision sets a dangerous precedent for the future of privacy software. The more interesting question is why the case was allowed to continue under the Trump administration, which has broadly embraced the crypto sector—or at least the elements more tied to financial gains. The Securities and Exchange Commission abandoned cases against Coinbase and Justin Sun, and the DOJ issued a memo announcing the end of 'regulation by prosecution' against the blockchain industry. They even dropped one of the lesser charges against Storm about registration. But the core charge—that a developer should be responsible for non-custodial software—was allowed to continue. The refrain since Trump returned to office has been that, thanks to the lax new regulatory approach, crypto enforcement is off the table. Unfortunately for Storm, it seems that's restricted to memecoins. Leo SchwartzX: @leomschwartzEmail: Submit a deal for the Term Sheet newsletter here. Former Amazon aggregator turns to Solana, records $70K in daily rewards
Former Amazon aggregator turns to Solana, records $70K in daily rewards originally appeared on TheStreet. Despite Bitcoin's towering $113.3 billion in corporate treasuries versus just $3.44 billion for Solana, one Nasdaq-listed company is betting big on the smaller chain — and collecting daily rewards while doing it. Upexi (NASDAQ: UPXI), once an Amazon brand aggregator, has pivoted into crypto and become one of the first publicly traded firms to build a Solana-focused treasury. Speaking with Scott Melker, host of TheStreet Roundtable, Upexi CEO Alan Marshall said the move wasn't about following the herd into Bitcoin — it was about finding faster growth potential. 'I didn't want to be just another of the 50 Bitcoin treasury companies,' Marshall said. 'Love Bitcoin, but it's a $2.5 trillion asset. The fifth-largest asset would take immense, sovereign buying for Bitcoin to 5x from here. Solana is 4% of the size of Bitcoin and literally could dramatically increase this year and over the next couple of years.'Part of the attraction is Solana's thriving decentralized ecosystem. A dApp (decentralized application) is software that runs on a blockchain instead of a single company's server — think financial apps, marketplaces, or games where no one entity can change the rules. Solana consistently ranks at the top in daily active users, DApp revenue, and decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volumes, signaling a busy, growing network. For treasury holders like Upexi, Solana also offers an 8.1% staking yield — a way to earn passive income by helping secure the network. In simple terms, staking means locking up your SOL tokens so they can be used by validators (the blockchain's record-keepers) to process transactions. In return, stakers get rewards paid out in SOL. Marshall said: 'We announced a couple of days ago we're over 2 million Solana and our staking revenue is like $70,000 a day. If it was Bitcoin, it would be almost zero a day.' Before crypto, Upexi had built a $100 million run-rate business in Amazon brand aggregation. But pandemic-era debt tightening and the challenges of Amazon's platform pushed Marshall to seek 'something more technology-based and changing quickly.' The turning point came, he said, 'once the administration changed and the SEC decided that the US was finally going to lead in crypto and not be behind.'For Marshall, Solana's smaller size, vibrant DeFi activity, and income potential from staking make it the better long-term play — even if Bitcoin still dominates corporate treasuries. 'If headwinds become tailwinds, that amount of buying would push Solana up multiples of where it could push Bitcoin,' he said. Launched in 2018, Upexi began as an Amazon brand aggregator, acquiring and scaling consumer products in health, wellness, and pet care. Over time, it built its own marketing, logistics, and fulfillment infrastructure to grow these brands across Amazon, Walmart, and direct-to-consumer channels. In 2024, the company pivoted toward digital assets.
