
Japan's reusable rocket startup ISC eyes US test launch in December
The global race for
commercial launch vehicles
has been driven by SpaceX, which on Tuesday conducted a ninth test for its fully-reusable Starship. U.S. rivals including Blue Origin and companies in China and Europe also have reusable launcher plans.
But Japan lacks cost-competitive launchers at home, which the government sees as a bottleneck in its efforts to double the domestic space industry's size to 8 trillion yen ($55.4 billion by the early 2030s.

in New Mexico, using a Hadley rocket engine from U.S.-manufacturer Ursa Major.

Founded in 2022 by former government official Hatada, ISC has signed partnerships including with the British 3D printer firm WAAM3D to fast-track the launcher development.
ISC has secured Japanese government's rocket development subsidies along with Space One and Toyota-backed Interstellar Technologies. It aims to lower the per-launch cost of a rocket capable of lifting a 100kg (220.46 lb) satellite to space to 500 million yen in the long run, Hatada said.
Ursa Major's Hadley engine has been used by U.S. company Stratolaunch for hypersonic vehicle tests and been granted a U.S. export control permit so that it can be equipped on an ISC rocket.
With ISC, "we look forward to continuing the partnership to further safe, cost-effective access to space," Ursa Major Chief Growth Officer Ben Nicholson said in an emailed statement.

State signs Rs42k cr investment agreements to boost industry, job creation
Nagpur: The state govt has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs42,000 crore of investment proposals. This includes a Rs10,900 crore solar power equipment project by Jupiter International Limited, and a Rs4,300 crore integrated steel plant in Chandrapur by Vow Iron and Steel Private Limited, a Nagpur-based company. Gurgaon: With India's fast-changing delivery landscape, the Department of Posts is working to soon launch sweeping reforms that will bring it closer in line with private courier companies and e-commerce logistics giants. Postmen delivering letters and parcels will now rely on mobile-based OTPs (One-Time Passwords) instead of signatures for verification, while customers will also be able to make payments through UPI, cutting down on cash transactions. Officials say the reforms are part of Advanced Postal Technology 2.0, a modernised framework already activated in the Gurgaon postal circle. The system integrates 5G-enabled tools, real-time tracking, and digital payment options—features long associated with private e-commerce companies and other courier firms. "With the new software, OTP-based delivery has started. This will enhance accuracy and minimise errors in parcel delivery," said Sumit Gad, senior superintendent of post offices, Gurgaon division. "The idea is to make India Post as seamless and transparent as any e-commerce logistics network," he added. The department has also unveiled a UPI-based digital payment system to facilitate instant, cashless doorstep transactions, allowing receivers to use QR codes and UPI apps to make payments. Villages that once depended on money orders are today using Aadhaar-enabled banking, doorstep insurance, and digital payments via the postal network. Walmart share price: Walmart stock rises over 35 per cent, check price-to-earnings ratio
Walmart stock has gained nearly 37 per cent in the last 12 months, one of the notable non-tech companies leading a market that has largely sloughed off the effects of U.S. President Donald Trump's ongoing trade war. The broader Consumer Staples sector is up 4.5 per cent, trailing the broad-market S&P 500. Walmart's forward price-to-earnings ratio currently stands at 35.7, compared with an average of 25.5 over the past five years, suggesting investors expect growth. Its market value has soared to about $800 billion, per LSEG Datastream. Investors expect Walmart's management to strike a cautious tone on customer demand as the U.S. labor market cools and inflation ticks up, though the company has outperformed its peers over the last year due to its reliance on grocery sales and wealthier customers shopping there more often. Still, analysts say this environment is a sweet spot for Walmart, which reports second-quarter results on Thursday before markets open.
