The family was on holiday at the Solterra Resort in Devenport, near Disney World, Florida, when the feud broke out.
Gibbon, from Beaconsfield, and Jasmine, a 33-year-old hairdresser, began arguing over the "stipulations of his will", according to US police.
He pushed Jasmine's head "under the water and held her down multiple times", according to the arrest affidavit.
She told cops that she "could not breathe and believed that she was going to drown," according to Polk's County Sheriff's Office.

According to deputies, Jasmine said she had to "fight Mark in order to get away from him and from under the water but he kept pushing her back under".
It was then that her nine-year-old daughter saw what was going on and leapt into the water to her mother's defence
She tried desperately to intervene, but Gibbon allegedly kept pushing her away.
Gibbon faces one count of attempted murder and two counts of battery.
In the midst of it, Jasmine spotted some neighbours, two sisters, and screamed at them to call 911.
Gibbon is said to have stopped only when the sisters said they were calling the sheriff's office.

Deputies arrived on scene and took Gibbon into custody.
He allegedly admitted to pushing Jasmine underwater, but insisted he hadn't been trying to drown her.
He claimed they had been drinking, began arguing and that she slapped him - which triggered the fight, reports Law & Crime.
Jasmine reportedly suffered scratches from the clash.

Cops confirmed they responded to reports of a disturbance in a pool at around 5:20pm local time.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said: "It's great that Polk County draws visitors from all across the world, but we expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our lifelong residents to do the same."
"Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated."
Gibbon was arrested and taken to Polk County Jail, where he was charged with attempted second-degree murder and battery.
He is next due in court on September 9.
Gibbon is a lighting technician, who runs his own firm called MRG Lighting.
He has worked on music videos for Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Paloma Faith, according to his website, as well as on film and TV sets.
He is also listed as the only director of Sage Hairdressing.

Four members of Brit family killed in head-on Portugal holiday car crash pictured
The four family members who died in a tragic car crash while on holiday have been named for the first time. Two twins aged 20, their father, 55, their 51-year-old mother, and one of the youngsters' girlfriends all died in the accident, which also claimed the life of a Portuguese man who was travelling alone in the second vehicle. Now, the parents who were killed in a head-on crash in a Nissan Juke they had rented from Faro Airport have been identified as Maria Joao and Jose Fale. Their twin sons Domingos and Afonso also died. It comes after a Brit mum's 'horrendous' death after being scratched by a puppy with rabies on holiday. A source close to the ongoing investigation said: 'The car was such a wreck officers could only recover half a number-plate and with that began working on trying to establish the identity. 'Today a daughter of the couple killed alongside their twin sons, worried because she had heard about the crash in Portugal and was concerned because she couldn't contact her loved ones, rang the police to speak about her fears it was her family involved. 'With the information she gave them officers made checks with the hire car firm at Faro Airport and tragically discovered a match. 'That was how they were able to confirm the identities of the five occupants in the car with the four members of the same family inside.' After the smash, the hire car burst into flames, according to local reports. The Portuguese man travelling in the other car, 26-year-old Ruben Goncalves, has also been named. Ruben worked at a zinc-copper mine southeast of Castro Verde called the Neves-Corvo mine. He had a son aged around four. Pictures from the crash scene showed the wreckage of one of the two vehicles involved in the accident in a field, where a blaze took hold after the collision. The crash happened on a bend on the IP2 where signs shows the speed limit is 80kmh. Shocked locals took to social media today to express their shock and upset at what had happened. Tania Marques Da Cruz said: 'My most sincere condolences to all those killed. I hope their souls rest in peace. It's so sad to hear of people leaving their homeland and friends in search of a better life and then have their lives end like this. How unfair life is.' Cesar Caleiro wrote on Facebook: 'My sincere condolences to the loved ones of those killed. Mourao must rally round to comfort the families of the victims.' A local paper in Mourao, confirming the names of the family, said: 'Jose Fale and his wife Maria Joao and their sons died along with their daughter-in-law. Mourao is in mourning.' The circumstances surrounding the fatal accident are being investigated by the GNR local police force. Town hall officials in Mourao have declared two days of mourning starting from tomorrow. A spokesman said: 'The Municipal Council of Mourao has decreed two days of municipal mourning, effective from tomorrow, Sunday, following the death of five family members involved in a traffic accident last night on the IP2, near Castro Verde. 'The Municipality, in coordination with the family and law enforcement authorities, namely the local GNR Post in Castro Verde, obtained the number plate of the vehicle they were travelling in and confirmed the identity of the passengers at 3:35 p.m today. 'There were four occupants in the car, all from Mourao, and a young woman with ties to the family. Residents of England, they were traveling from Faro to Mourao for their usual and well-deserved vacation. 'It is with great sadness that the Municipality announces this information, offering its condolences to the families and friends of the victims. 'We inform you that all activities and events promoted by the Municipality are cancelled for the entire weekend.'

Three Thai soldiers injured by landmine on border with Cambodia, army says
Three Thai soldiers were injured on Saturday after one tripped a landmine in territory along its frontier with Cambodia, Thailand's army has said as it accused the neighbouring country of planting concealed weapons in violation of international law. The incident, in which a Thai sergeant major suffered severe injuries, came two days after the countries reasserted their commitment to a ceasefire that ended a brief but intense period of fighting. Cambodia denies the accusation. The army's statement said the incident took place in Thailand's Sisaket province and 'clearly demonstrates to both domestic and international society that the use of concealed weapons in border areas continues to exist, constituting a clear violation of the Ottawa Convention by the Cambodian side'. The Ottawa Convention is an international treaty banning the use of landmines, signed by 164 countries, including Cambodia and Thailand. The incident on Saturday risks enflaming tensions, which remain high despite the fragile truce agreed on 29 July to end the armed conflict. Five days of fighting broke out last month after five Thai soldiers were wounded when one stepped on a mine in disputed territory. The clashes, which killed at least 43 people on either side of the border and displaced more than 260,000, amounted to the worst fighting between the neighbouring countries in more than a decade. Since the truce was agreed, both sides have accused the other of breaching it. Relations remain rocky while anger is being stirred online by a mix of disinformation, threats and nationalism. Two days after the two sides met in Malaysia to sign a 13-point agreement on implementing their ceasefire, the Thai army's statement said that Saturday's incident constituted 'a significant obstacle to the implementation of ceasefire measures and peaceful resolution of problems'. Cambodia strongly denies laying new concealed weapons. 'We have not, and will not, plant new landmines,' the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority said in a statement. It said Cambodia had cleared more than 1m mines and nearly 3m other unexploded weapons dating back to a period of war and civil unrest that began in 1970 and lasted more than three decades. The Thai sergeant major lost his left foot in Saturday's incident, according to the Thai army statement, while two privates suffered less serious injuries.
