Summer migratory birds
are filling the woods with their songs and bright colours.
Bird watchers are reporting sightings of several species since it is that time of the year when flocks of summer migratory birds visit Mangar, Bhondsi, Aravali Biodiversity Park, Chandu and Budhera fields.
While a few of these birds soon make their way further north, some choose to stay in the Aravalis to breed. According to experts, birds travel to the Aravalis during this season every year as the region still has a comfortable space and an abundance of food for these winged creatures.
Pankaj Gupta, a birder from Delhi Bird Society, says, "The summer migrant birds are finally here. They get an ideal atmosphere in the Aravalis to stay in summer. Although several species arrived, many are yet to come. The summer migrants which are yet to arrive are Pied Cuckoo, Black-headed Cuckooshrike, Bitterns, Watercock and others."
"Several resident birds — Indian Bush Lark, Bonelli's Eagle, Grey-breasted Prinia, Jungle Prinia, Rufous-fronted Prinia and Common Kingfisher — are also spotted," Pankaj said.

He said several birds will soon start breeding as the region has sufficient food availability for the birds. "Several birds fly to this part for summer to breed as there are enough food sources. Thus, these landscapes of the region should be conserved," Gupta said.
These summer migrants return to these patches every year because old native trees like peepal, dhau and palash in the forests of Mangar, Chandu, Basai, Bhodsi and Bundhera create an ideal habitat for them.
"These are special places because the birds return year after year," conservationist Sunil Harsana said.
Other than Indian Pitta, bird enthusiasts also throng the local birding sites to see the bee-eater, another summer visitor to NCR. According to birders, the leopard trail and Sakatpur are the best places to find a Blue-tailed Bee-eater. Pheasant-tailed Jacana can be spotted in Chandu and Basai. Common Cuckoo can be spotted in Mangar and Bhondsi.
The Blue-tailed Bee-eater is an easy catch in Mangar. Then, there is the Paradise Flycatcher which prefers to nest in the forested area of the Aravalis.
The Aravali Forest and Sultanpur National Park are some of the best places to spot this beauty, experts said.
On the other hand, resident birds are busy securing a breeding place and gathering nesting material. The latter is a significant function of this season for birds.
It is not surprising that an almost limitless variety of materials, including stones and mud, animal and plant products and human-made artefacts, have at one time or another been incorporated into nests. The birds that are already breeding are lapwing, lark and pipit.

Now, locals in tourist areas allowed to open homestays

Lucknow: As part of its strategy to boost tourism and pilgrimage infrastructure, the Yogi Adityanath-led Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Uttar Pradesh Bed and Breakfast and Homestay Policy-2025. "The policy aims to provide more accessible and comfortable accommodation options for devotees and tourists visiting the state's religious and tourist destinations," said principal secretary, tourism, Mukesh Meshram, adding that the initiative addresses a long-standing issue of accommodation shortages during peak travel seasons at prominent sites. "It is common for hotels at major religious and tourist destinations to be fully booked, leaving visitors with limited or no lodging options. The new policy seeks to resolve this challenge by enabling local residents to offer homestay accommodations," he said. Under the policy, any individual residing in proximity to a religious or tourist site will be allowed to register a homestay unit consisting of one to six rooms, accommodating a maximum of 12 beds. Tourists can avail of the facility for up to seven consecutive days, with provisions for extension through a renewal process. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Amazon CFD : La clave para un ingreso extra (Conoce más) Empezar ahora Registrarse Undo The registration and approval of homestays will be overseen by a committee headed by the district magistrate and superintendent of police to ensure safety and compliance. Only a small fee will be charged to register homestays in rural areas—ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 750. For urban and silver-category homestays, the application fee has been set at Rs 2,000. Lauding the policy in the cabinet briefing, the state's finance minister, Suresh Khanna, said, "Due to Uttar Pradesh's rich cultural heritage and historical sites, the state is already a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists. However, until now, there was no state-level policy for homestays which will help in formalising facilities for the tourists and pilgrims." Adding that the policy also includes financial support and incentives to encourage residents to offer part of their homes for tourism purposes, Khanna further said, "This policy will not only help provide affordable and convenient accommodation to tourists but will also create new income and job opportunities for local people. Overall, it is expected to strengthen the state's economy and tourism infrastructure. " Tourism department officials also revealed that as a result of the lack of a policy framework, homestay operators registered on the central govt's NIDHI+ portal. With the new policy, they can now register easily by getting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from local authorities.

Prepaid auto services to take off at airport's T2 before June-end: MIAL

Mumbai: Prepaid autorickshaw services will begin at the city airport's Terminal 2 before the end of the month. Although clearances from state govt, MMRTA, and other authorities have been secured, works like software updates with prepaid tariffs, establishment of counters for issuing prepaid receipts, provision of seats for differently abled passengers, and a bay for luggage trolleys, as well as minor infrastructure work, remain to be completed, according to a senior official from Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) on Monday. Last month, state transport minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that the prepaid auto service would begin from T2 on June 1. He indicated he obtained all clearances and organised meetings of all stakeholders, placing responsibility on the airport authorities to initiate the prepaid stand. The MIAL official said: "We run a prepaid taxi system at the airport. As for autos, the RTO already provided us with the rate cards for different destinations, and this will be fed into our system very soon. We will be handling more autos at the airport, and therefore a proper infrastructure needs to be created to avoid chaos." NGO Happy to Help has offered its services for operating the prepaid stand. An MIAL official said their assistance may be accepted, but overall supervision and management of the prepaid auto operations would remain with the airport authorities. MIAL will also receive support from the traffic police to monitor the autos. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "Prepaid autos will put an end to commuters being fleeced or dropped midway during their journey, as was reported in some incidents at airport's T2 in recent months," said a transport activist. "The system will regulate rogue drivers and deter those who insist on fixed, inflated fares."
