Chelsea line up future move for Brighton star as transfer deal is agreed

Brighton midfielder Julio Enciso is being lined up for a future at Stamford Bridge after agreeing a deal with BlueCo – the group that owns Chelsea and Strasbourg. The 21-year-old had been tipped for big things after announcing himself to Premier League fans with a Puskas Award-nominated strike against Manchester City to help Brighton secure a place in the 2023/24 Europa League. But Enciso struggled to nail down a starting spot on the south coast and spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich, where he racked up two goals and three assists in 13 appearances. Following Ipswich's relegation into the Championship, Enciso made it clear he was keen to explore possible opportunities away from the Amex Stadium, with regular first-team minutes seen as an absolute priority. According to The Athletic, BlueCo have now agreed personal terms with Enciso's camp and the Paraguay international is expected to join up with Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg imminently. However, the report claims Enciso is 'viewed as a long-term Chelsea player' by Todd Boehly's BlueCo consortium, who completed a takeover of the west London giants in 2022. After assuming control of Strasbourg 12 months later, Boehly spoke about the multi-club model providing a route for young talent to force their way into the reckoning at Chelsea. Sky Sports is going full throttle this Premier League season, airing a record-breaking 215 live matches - that's nearly double the usual dose of drama, goals, and post-match meltdowns. Whether you're team Sky Q, Sky Glass, or prefer streaming via NOW, you're covered. And with pundits like Jamie Carragher probably already rehearsing their 'I told you so' lines, expect top-tier commentary alongside top-tier football. 'We can show pathways for our young superstars to get onto the Chelsea pitch while getting them real game-time,' the American billionaire said. Enciso will no doubt be desperate to make an impression in French football with Strasbourg, managed by Liam Rosenior, but the youngster first has to work his way back from knee surgery – which has kept him sidelined since May. The injury meant Enciso did not feature in Brighton's pre-season plans or in the side's 1-1 draw with Fulham last weekend. Enciso had just 12 months remaining on his contract with the Seagulls. Speaking to ABC Paraguay in May, Enciso revealed that he was keen to enjoy the summer with his loved ones before determining his future. 'I'll think about what I'm going to do later,' Enciso said at the time. 'I don't know yet what I will do. 'I want to enjoy time with my family and then I'll think about what I'm going to do.' Ross County boss Don Cowie's message for frustrated fans ahead of Partick Thistle clash

Don Cowie insists he shares Ross County fans' frustration – but vowed to help turn their early season slump around. The Staggies manager has seen his side bow out of the Premier Sports Cup group stages, draw 2-2 at Airdrieonians after leading 2-0 and lose 1-0 late on against expected title rivals St Johnstone. On Saturday, they host Partick Thistle in the Championship – just four weeks after the Jags won 3-1 in Dingwall in the League Cup. Mark Wilson's team have also just one point from their first two league games – but their flawless form in the cup has taken them into a quarter-final showdown against holders Celtic next month. Cowie and his players have been under fire from sections of the support due to poor performances and results, and he knows it. Cowie said: 'I share the same frustration, and the players share it as well. 'The frustration is valid, especially for the fans. Like I say, each signing that has come in, it's been like 'that's a good signing'. 'That's what we feel as a football club. We're really happy with what we've taken in. 'But now ultimately it is down to the players. We've all set out our stall, between me, the board and the players, what our goals are going into this season. 'Now it is a case of 'go and show it'. 'There's no reason to panic this early in the season, but we've still got to recognise in the games we've played that we should have performed better. 'Yes, it is only two games in, but we should demand more, expect more. 'What I want to see now on Saturday is a team that comes out of the traps flying. 'To go and show what they're capable of and give the fans that positivity in terms of what they're seeing on the pitch.' Amid the 13 arrivals at County this summer have been defenders Declan Gallagher and Alex Iacovitti, wingers Adam Emslie and Gary Mackay-Steven, midfielders Jamie Lindsay and Ross Docherty and forward Nicky Clark. The Staggies head coach stressed that there was a collective agreement that the standard of player arriving at County over the summer brought a sense of excitement. He said: 'We have all spoken about our recruitment – everyone outside and inside the club have been really happy with the individuals who have come in. 'We knew there was always a possibility it could take a bit of time for them to gel and perform collectively as a team. 'The players recognise they need to perform better individually and, if they do that, then we'd be in a better place. 'We will have had two weeks since our last game and there needs to be a real determination to take the game to Partick.' Cowie also addressed the question over whether a regular squad overhaul at the Dingwall club is a challenge. He added: 'It's part of football. 'It's not something we've not gone through before. 'You have got to adapt and it's no excuse. 'Previously, we've had a lot of loan or younger players come in and they're having to adapt. 'We've signed a lot of seasoned pros with a lot of experience in the game. 'They recognise they need to perform a lot better than they have.' *** County's bid, meanwhile, to bring Dundee goalkeeper Trevor Carson to the club on loan has reportedly ended with the 37-year-old opting to remain at Dens Park. The former Hartlepool, Motherwell, Dundee United and St Mirren keeper was wanted as competition for Ross Laidlaw and Brad Foster and the clubs had agreed on the move until January. However, Carson has turned down the switch, preferring to fight for the number one spot with Jon McCracken, who is Steven Pressley's current top pick for the Dark Blues.

Neil Lennon hails Dunfermline ambition as striker hunt goes on after bids for St Johnstone's Makenzie Kirk

Neil Lennon has hailed Dunfermline's ambition as they continue their bid to land striking reinforcements. The Pars have had two six-figure bids turned down for St Johnstone's Makenzie Kirk, with the 21-year-old also attracting interest from clubs south of the border. It is expected the Fifers will now look elsewhere in their attempts to strengthen Lennon's options in attack. However, the willingness to spend money on what are seen as the right targets in the data-driven recruitment of co-owner James Bord is something that manager Lennon has welcomed. Over the last two transfer windows, fees and sell-on promises have been shelled out for the likes of Shea Kearney, Rory MacLeod, Keith Bray, Connor Young and Robbie Fraser. 'It shows the ambition of the owner and, again, the blueprint of what he wants to do,' said Lennon. 'Buy young and integrate them and build a successful team. That's just the way we're working at the minute. 'Some [bids] come off, some don't. So we'll keep plugging away. 'I would like to obviously add a little bit of experience to the squad if we can. But we'll cross that bridge when we need to. 'There's still plenty of time in the window yet for comings and goings. 'There's nothing at the minute. It's the on-going spinning of plates and we'll just wait and see what comes up.' When asked by Courier Sport specifically about Kirk, Lennon added: 'I don't want to talk about other players at other clubs.' Dunfermline's striking options are set to be strengthened anyway for Friday night's Fife derby against Raith Rovers, thanks to the return of Chris Kane. The former St Johnstone forward has been sidelined since injuring his knee in the 2-1 victory over Hamilton Accies in the Premier Sports Cup a month ago. Ex-Dundee United attacker MacLeod is still restoring his fitness after a stay in hospital with an abscess on his throat. But new signings Robbie Fraser and Jefferson Caceres are in line for possible debuts at Stark's Park. 'Chris is back training, so he should be in the squad for Friday,' added Lennon, who confirmed some players are likely to leave on loan in the coming days. 'So, obviously, that's a welcome boost for everyone. 'Rory's still recovering from his virus, so he'll be a little bit more down the line. '[Jefferson] may figure in the game on Friday. But, going forward, we're hoping to see a lot of him.'
