RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's land, sea, and air customs ports recorded 1,394 seizures of contraband during the inspection campaign, carried out by the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, to enhance security and protect society from all types and forms of contraband.
The seized items included 87 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, shabu, Captagon pills, and others, in addition to 1,331 prohibited substances. The seized items also included 1,751 types of tobacco and its derivatives, along with 47 types of cash.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority affirmed its commitment to tightening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports so as to ensure the security and protection of society, in cooperation and continuous coordination with all its partners from relevant authorities.
The authority called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting it on the dedicated security reporting number 1910 or via email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or via the international number 009661910. Through these channels, the authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs Law, with complete confidentiality. A financial reward will be granted to the whistleblower if the provided information is accurate.

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi security forces have arrested a total of 11,657 illegal residents during the last week. The arrests were made during the joint inspections, carried out by the security forces in collaboration with the relevant government agencies, during the period between May 29 and June 4, the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday. Those who were arrested included 6,981 violators of the Residency Law, 3,190 violators of the Border Security Law, and 1,486 violators of the Labor Law. The ministry said that a total of 9,215 violators were deported while 12,122 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents and 1,435 violators were referred to complete their travel reservations. A total of 17,018 illegal residents, including 15,991 men and 1,027 women, are currently undergoing various phases of legal procedures as part of punitive measures against them. The Ministry of Interior has warned that any person, who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transports them on its territory, provides them with shelter or any other assistance or service may be penalized with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million, and that the vehicles used for transportation or houses used for giving shelter will be confiscated. The ministry urged the public to report any cases of violation by calling the number 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province and the numbers 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom's regions.

The ministry said that the Hajj Security Forces have arrested 18 expatriates and 31 Saudi citizens at the entry points to Makkah while transporting 197 individuals who did not hold permits to perform Hajj. The ministry issued administrative rulings through the seasonal administrative committees against the transporters, accomplices, and unauthorized pilgrims. Penalties include imprisonment, fines of up to SR100,000, publicizing names of the violators in the local media at their own expense, deportation of expatriates with a 10-year re-entry ban after serving of the sentence, and legal proceedings for the confiscation of vehicles used in the violations. Unauthorized pilgrims face fines of up to SR20,000. In a related incident, Hajj Security Forces arrested 58 individuals for violating Hajj regulations by attempting to enter the city of Makkah without the required permits to perform the pilgrimage. They were referred to the competent authorities to slap the prescribed penalties. The ministry urged all citizens and residents to strictly adhere to Hajj regulations in order to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims during the performance of their rituals.

The ministry issued administrative decisions through the seasonal administrative committees against the transporters, their accomplices, and those who were provided with transportation. The penalties included imprisonment, fines of up to SR100,000, publicizing names of violators in the local media at their own expense, and deportation of residents with a 10-year ban from re-entering Saudi Arabia after serving their sentence. The ministry also called for the judicial confiscation of vehicles used in the unauthorized transport of pilgrims and the imposition of a fine of up to SR20,000 on those, who attempted to perform Hajj without a permit. The ministry urged all citizens and residents to comply with Hajj regulations to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
