India set to create 6 lakh jobs and global hub in Green Hydrogen Sector by 2030
While addressing the FICCI Green Hydrogen Summit 2025, the minister announced that 23 R&D projects were sanctioned, with over 100 more under evaluation. We are developing a testing facility for green hydrogen. Besides, over 100 hydrogen standards and protocols are adopted or under preparation,' said Naik. He also mentioned that five states have already implemented their green hydrogen policies, with several others actively developing similar initiatives. '15 states have notified their own hydrogen policies, creating enabling ecosystems and hydrogen hubs,' claimed Naik. Naik further explained that these states are facilitating land allocation, ensuring water availability, promoting the storage of renewable energy, and incentivizing innovation, particularly through the establishment of hydrogen hubs. The minister highlighted India's renewable energy achievements as the foundation for green hydrogen ambitions. As of June 2025, cumulative installed renewable energy capacity reached approximately 237 gigawatts, including 119 gigawatts of solar, 52 gigawatts of wind, and 49 gigawatts from large hydro. Combined with 8.78 gigawatts of nuclear power, non-fossil fuel sources now represent more than 50% of total installed power generation capacity. 'This is a matter of immense pride that we have achieved this key NDC target five years ahead of schedule,' Naik said, crediting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India has set a target of 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030, requiring annual capacity additions of approximately 50 gigawatts. Industry leaders at the summit expressed optimism about recent developments and government support.

Ola Electric Shares Surge 18% In Two Sessions; Should Investors Chase The Rally?
Ola Electric Mobility shares staged a sharp rebound this week, surging 18% in just two sessions after a prolonged slide; Should you buy? Ola Electric Shares: Ola Electric Mobility shares staged a sharp rebound this week, surging 18% in just two sessions after a prolonged slide through most of 2025. On Wednesday, the stock jumped nearly 9% to Rs 48.90 on the BSE, building on Tuesday's 8.8% gain, as investors weighed looming GST reforms against tentative signs of fresh momentum in the EV maker. The stock remains deeply beaten down, down 48% so far in 2025 and 70% over the past year. On Wednesday alone, around 2,376.75 lakh shares worth Rs 1,136.80 crore were traded on the NSE. The recovery came after Monday's muted session, when Ola slipped 0.3% to Rs 41.21 even as the Nifty Auto index jumped 4.2% on hopes of GST cuts boosting auto demand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently signalled that GST rates on several goods and services could be lowered by Diwali. Proposals under discussion include slashing GST on small cars to 18% from 28%, Reuters reported. While HSBC Global Research said such cuts may lift auto demand, it cautioned that EV adoption could suffer if states offset the move by raising road taxes. Nomura echoed the concern, warning that reducing GST on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles could sharply widen the price gap with EVs, which are taxed at 5%. Meanwhile, Ola continues to struggle financially. For the June quarter, the company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 428 crore, up 23% year-on-year, as revenues halved to Rs 828 crore. EBITDA losses widened to Rs 237 crore, with margins slipping to -28.6% from -12.5% a year earlier. Analysts see signs of bottoming out. Laxmikant Shukla of YES Securities noted the stock has been consolidating near Rs 39, with Doji candles indicating stabilization. 'A move above the 50-day SMA signals a pullback, with a buy range of Rs 43–44 and a stop-loss at Rs 39," he said. Anuj Gupta of Ya Wealth said Ola 'is in the oversold zone, with strong support at Rs 39," adding that the stock could recover meaningfully from here. Choice Broking's Mandar Bhojane observed that Ola has 'formed a falling channel and is on the verge of a breakout with strong volumes," pointing to Rs 52.5 and Rs 57.5 as possible near-term targets if it sustains above Rs 46. Long-term view Some investors remain optimistic despite near-term policy risks. 'The rebound suggests markets are focusing on execution and Ola's expansion trajectory rather than policy noise," said Anirudh Garg, Partner and Fund Manager at INVasset PMS. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. TSMC secures USD 2.23 billion in global subsidies in first half of 2025
Taipei [Taiwan], August 20 (ANI): Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has received USD 2.23 billion (NTD 67.13 billion) in subsidies from the governments of the United States, Germany, Japan and China during the first half of 2025, according to a Focus Taiwan report. As per the report, financial data compiled by the world's largest contract chipmaker showed that USD 1.17 billion (NTD 35.15 billion) in aid was granted in the first quarter of this year, followed by USD 1.06 billion (NTD 31.98 billion) in the second. These subsidies, combined with USD 2.49 billion (NTD 75.16 billion) received in 2024, pushed the total aid from the four governments to USD 4.7 billion (NTD 142.29 billion) over the past 18 months. TSMC stated that the funds were allocated for property purchases, equipment, factory construction, and operational expenses to support its global expansion strategy. The subsidies were tied to agreements signed by TSMC's subsidiaries with local governments where the company has invested. In the United States, TSMC Arizona Corp. is building three advanced semiconductor plants worth USD 65 billion. The first fab began mass production in late 2024 using 4-nanometer technology. Construction of the second fab has been completed, with commercial production using the 3-nanometer process expected soon. Work has also started on a third facility, which will adopt 2-nanometer and A16 process technologies. TSMC has pledged to invest an additional USD 100 billion in the coming years to build further fabs, assembly plants, and a research and development center in Arizona. In Japan, TSMC's joint venture, Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing, Inc. (JASM), launched mass production at its first fab in Kumamoto at the end of 2024. Plans for a second fab are underway, though local infrastructure development has slowed progress amid resident concerns over traffic congestion. In Germany, European Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (ESMC) began construction of a new facility in Dresden in August 2024. The site, which is scheduled for completion in 2027, will focus on supplying Europe's auto industry and industrial sector. 'The current work in Dresden is centered on infrastructure such as constructing a water recycling system and building gas and chemical supply systems for future production," the report quoted Christian Koitzsch, president of ESMC. Meanwhile, in China, TSMC continues operations at its 12-inch wafer fab in Nanjing under agreements signed with local authorities. The company noted that it must adhere to construction timelines and other conditions outlined in its agreements to qualify for the subsidies. (ANI)
