Kaushalya: The Skill University in Gujarat launches advanced Industry 4.0 Lab
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], May 12 (ANI): Kaushalya, the Skill University has launched an advanced Industry 4.0 Lab to prepare Gujarat's youth with skills in cutting-edge technologies, according to an official release.
In collaboration with the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries, the university has established the state-of-the-art iFactory Lab at the Industrial Training Institute in Kubernagar, Ahmedabad.
Guided by the visionary leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who remains committed to enhancing the global competitiveness of Gujarat's youth, the state continues to adopt a forward-looking approach to nurture 'Future-Ready' talent, the release reads.
The lab will offer a range of courses and hands-on training in emerging Industry 4.0 technologies, including robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and cyber-physical systems, empowering young learners to thrive in the evolving industrial landscape.
To support Industry 4.0, the lab will provide training in key technologies such as Cyber-Physical Systems, IoT, and Robotics. It will focus on automating the entire process from order placement to product delivery, preparing industry workers with the latest innovations.
The lab aims to train personnel across industries to adopt these technologies, while also benefiting students from various educational and technical institutions. This will ensure a skilled workforce aligned with industry needs, creating new employment opportunities for the youth.
These efforts are not limited to training alone; they are aimed at building a globally competitive industrial framework in the state.
This initiative supports the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Under his leadership, India has secured the 40th position in the Global Innovation Index. Industries and entrepreneurs are essential to positioning India as a key player in global value chains. (ANI)

"We were recalibrating our strategies": Shashi Tharoor on India adapting to China's technology during Op Sindoor
Washington DC [US], June 5 (ANI): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, leading an all-party delegation to the United States on Thursday, discussed India's military strategies against China's technology, particularly during Operation Sindoor. He highlighted India's ability to adapt and respond effectively to China's advanced systems. Tharoor mentioned China's 'kill chain' technology, integrating radar, GPS, planes, and missiles for instant reactions. 'The reassessment took place while the fighting was going on. When we saw what the Pakistanis were tempted to do using, as you say, Chinese technology, there's supposed to be something called a kill chain that the Chinese specialise in, wherein the radar, GPS, planes and missiles are all linked together, and they react instantly... We simply did things differently; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to hit 11 airfields, and we wouldn't have been able to breach the Chinese supply to their defences. So it's clear that assessments were taking place while the fighting was happening and we were recalibrating our strategies to end as effectively as we were able to end...,' Tharoor emphasised that India assessed and recalibrated its strategies during the conflict to counter Chinese defences effectively and hit key targets. Notably, during Operation Sindoor, India, in addition to eliminating over 100 terrorists, destroyed 11 air bases inside Pakistan and inflicted significant damage on their military capabilities. The air, land and sea operations were carried out with calibrated restraint, emphasising minimising civilian casualties. Tharoor noted China's significant stakes in Pakistan, particularly through the Belt and Road Initiative's China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, highlighting the complexity of the region's geopolitics. 'The fact is, China has immense stakes in Pakistan. The largest single project the Belt and Road Initiative is in Pakistan, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. So we have no illusions about the degree of commitment that China may feel towards Pakistan,' added the Congress leader. Tharoor also acknowledged China's influence in the region, noting its role as a significant supplier of funds, often through loans that can lead to unsustainable debt obligations for recipient countries. 'China does come in and play a role. I mean, there's no doubt about that. China can be a fairly munificent supplier of funds. They are often loans and not grants, and some involve unsustainable debt obligations on the part of the recipients. Um, and so yes, you've implied there are specific issues we need to address,' said Tharoor. He emphasised the importance of the neighbourhood to India, highlighting its responsibility to care for the well-being of its neighbours. 'We as a country have always appreciated that when we sit around the table with our neighbours, we account for 70% of the land mass and 80% of the GDP. I mean we have a responsibility to care for the well-being of our neighbours, and we are conscious of that,' he added. Tharoor highlighted that Pakistan's obstructionism hindered regional cooperation efforts, particularly within the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). 'We were trying to make a goal of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, but Pakistan obstructed that because they could not have these relationships blossoming as long as they had a grudge with India. And unfortunately, the South Asian Association worked on consensus so that nothing could get done,' said Tharoor. He said India revived the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), a sub-regional organisation that excludes Pakistan and focuses on cooperation with countries to the east. 'India has now revived another sub-regional organisation called BIMSTEC, which does not include Pakistan, and sadly, it doesn't include the Maldives either, because they're to the west of the Bay of Bengal, but all the countries to the east, including Thailand and Myanmar, are part of this initiative, so it's not that we are in any way backing off from regional cooperation. We want it, but there are specific challenges. However, we can go country by country at some point. I'm sure my colleagues in the Indian Embassy will happily help the US State Department on that.' Entry of foreign law firms in India will increase overall quality of arbitration in country: CJI
New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): Chief Justice of India BR Gavai has said that the entry of foreign law firms in India will provide a pathway to introduce global best practices in the Indian arbitration ecosystem, which will be effective in increasing the overall quality of arbitration in India. CJI said that the rules notified by the Bar Council of India (BCI) would also ensure that the rights of Indian legal professionals are not compromised. CJI Gavai was speaking at the International Conference on Arbitrating Indo-UK Disputes, organised by the Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA) in London on Thursday. 'Furthermore, it is not an overstatement to say that for India to become a leading hub for international commercial arbitration, the international arbitration community must have access to high-quality, independent and impartial arbitrators, both as a matter of fact and of perception. As with India's potential to be an international arbitration hub, there is huge potential for Indian lawyers to become arbitrators that are in demand across the globe. However, this potential is, as yet, unrealised,' CJI Gavai said. The CJI further said that India continuously aspired to become a hub of international arbitration by building a progressive legislative framework, a pro-enforcement judiciary and robust institutional support. He said India has witnessed the establishment and growth of several arbitration institutions such as the Delhi International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA), India Arbitration and Mediation Centre in Hyderabad (IAMCH) and the Nani Palkhiwala Centre for International Arbitration, etc. These centres have played a key role in administering disputes outside the scope of the judicial set-up. 'Additionally, in 2019, the government of India had established the India International Arbitration Centre in New Delhi which is an autonomous institution aimed at supporting an independent and autonomous regime for institutional arbitration in India,' said the CJI. He further added that these arbitration centres strive for professionalism, efficiency, transparency and impartiality in arbitral proceedings by providing high quality of arbitral services and by maintaining panels of accredited arbitrators both at national and international level. 'The establishment of international arbitration centers in both India and the UK is a highly encouraging development for the resolution of commercial disputes. With dedicated arbitration facilities, both countries demonstrate their commitment to fostering a fair and efficient dispute resolution process that adheres to global standards,' said the CJI. 'Furthermore, the inclusion of technology in the Indian legal system shall facilitate online dispute resolution systems such as virtual arbitration and virtual mediation mechanisms. This online system has made physical distances irrelevant,' he said. (ANI)
