Anantapur: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V expressed his desire for visually impaired and orphaned girls to achieve greater heights in their future careers. On Sunday, he visited the Meenakshi Integrated Development Centre (MIDC) located on RTO Office Road in Anantapur city.
During his visit, the Collector interacted with the students, inquired about their welfare, and inspected the facilities available at the center. He also personally reviewed the recently announced Intermediate examination results of the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vinod Kumar congratulated the girls benefiting from the services provided by the Meenakshi Integrated Development Centre and encouraged them to aim for even greater success. Appreciating the efforts of the organization, he urged them to expand their services further to benefit more individuals in society.
He assured that any assistance required by the center would be provided promptly through the government and the district administration. He announced that the necessary land allocation for the construction of a new building, as per government norms, would be arranged. The Collector instructed the concerned officials to prepare and submit the relevant proposals within a week. The visit was also attended by Anantapur RDO Keshava Naidu, Welfare Officer for Differently Abled Vinod, center administrators Ravikanth Ramana, teacher Venkata Narayana, and others.

During a video conference conducted from the Anantapur District Collectorate camp office on Saturday, the Collector reviewed preparations for the Yogandhra Mass Yoga Event, Shining Stars initiative, and the one-year completion of the current State government. The Collector stated that under the Shining Stars initiative, 184 Class 10 students and 35 Intermediate students would be felicitated with a medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹20,000 each. He instructed officials to finalize the venue and ensure that all arrangements are in place for a successful programme. Additionally, he emphasized proper planning for the Yogandhra event to be held on June 8 at Shilparamam in the city. Regarding the completion of one year of the new government on June 12, Dr Vinod Kumar instructed officials to organize inauguration ceremonies on June 11 for various newly sanctioned and ongoing infrastructure projects. He urged department heads to coordinate with local public representatives to make these events impact full. The Collector also emphasized the need to distribute various assets and kickstart development projects in villages, particularly focusing on form ponds and other critical works. He directed Constituency Special Officers to hold meetings with Mandal-level officers and organize constituency-level programmes in coordination. Highlighting a state level event scheduled in Amaravati on June 12 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, he advised informing ministers, public representatives, directors, and district officials to participate. He stressed adopting a team approach and ensuring seamless coordination among departments to execute all the planned activities successfully.

Plantation drives were conducted on Thursday to mark the World Environment Day celebrations across Anantapur, Nandyal, Kurnool, and Chittoor districts. The District Collectors and officials planted saplings with a call to the people to plant more trees and avoid usage of plastic. In Anantapur district, the drive was led by District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V., Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha and others at Nagaravanam in Pampanuru village of Atmakuru mandal. At the occasion, the Collector and MLA urged the people to plant saplings in a big way and urged them to adopt a lifestyle sans plastic. Mr. Kumar said the ban on single use plastic would also be implemented in rural areas of the district and steps would be taken to control usage of plastic. The Collector asked the officials to not give bouquets at government functions but instead give saplings. He also said that officials should stop using plastic water bottles during meetings and bring their own steel water bottles. In Nandyal district, Collector Rajakumari Gania said an action plan has been drawn to plant four lakh saplings across the district and the focus was to protect the planted saplings. She said efforts are being made to take up avenue, block and bund plantation and saplings are available at forest and NREGA nurseries in the district. Ms. Gania said that burning plastic along with waste releases harmful chemicals into the air leading to health issues and urged the people to avoid usage of plastic. She was speaking at the plantation drive held at Municipal High School in Nandyal town along with Minister for Minority Welfare N. Md. Farooq. In Kurnool, a plantation drive was taken up in Nagaravanam at Gargeyapuram on the outskirts of the district. Collector P. Ranjith Basha planted saplings and asked the people to avoid plastic. In Chittoor, plantation drive was taken up in Neeva Nagaravanam on the outskirts of the town in which Chittoor MLA G. Jagan Mohan took part. Saplings were also planted by the Sri Sathya Sai and Nandyal district police.

Anantapur: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V emphasized that ration distribution through government fair price shops should be carried out efficiently and within the prescribed timings. As part of the relaunch of the public distribution system (PDS), he inspected a ration shop in Kammuru village of Kudair Mandal on Sunday. During his visit, the Collector instructed officials to ensure all ration goods are delivered with accurate weights. He stated that distribution should take place every month from the 1st to the 15th, between 8 am and 12 pm, and again from 4 pm to 8 pm. He personally inquired with cardholders about the quality and weight of rice, and their experiences transporting goods from the shop to their homes. The Collector also visited several cardholders' homes to verify the quality and usage of rationed rice. At Chittemma's house, he checked the number of kilograms received and whether any money was paid. He asked whether other items like sugar were collected. At Chittemma's residence, the Collector tasted rice cooked with PDS supplies, joined by RDO and family members. While there, he interacted with Chittemma's granddaughter, R Deeksha, who mentioned she had failed one SSC subject and was currently not studying. Encouraging her to continue her education, the Collector directed the VRO and Tahsildar to speak with the family and arrange for her admission into Intermediate after clearing SSC. He assured that the government would support her education through the 'Ananta Animutyalu' scheme, ensuring she faces no financial obstacles. He further encouraged all girls to continue their education in government colleges. Another girl, Anitha, requested a seat in Kasturba Gandhi School for Grade 6, and Tummla Yogashri submitted a petition for an Intermediate seat at Kurugunta College. Several locals submitted petitions regarding their personal grievances, requesting prompt solutions from the Collector. Anantapur RDO Keshava Naidu, Tahsildar Mahaboob Basha, Kudair and Atmakur Mandal CSDT Lakshmidevi, and other officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
