Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru Set Dry Days On These Dates: Check Full List
Major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have announced dry days during festival season. Liquor sales will be banned on Independence Day, Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chaturthi.
As the festival season kicks off in August, authorities in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have released a list of dry days.
On these days, all bars, pubs, restaurants, wine stores, and liquor shops across the cities will be closed. The restriction will be imposed on a 24-hour basis.
Dry Days In Delhi
The Delhi administration has scheduled consecutive dry days this week, closing all liquor shops on Independence Day and Janmashtami.
The liquor vends in different licence categories were closed on August 15 for Independence Day and will be closed on August 16 for Janmasthami, Hindustan Times quoted an order issued by the Delhi government's excise department as saying.
The order said that in addition, all liquor vends, bars, restaurants, hotels, and clubs will remain closed on Independence Day and on October 2, Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
Dry Days In Mumbai
Apart from 15 August, the state excise department has marked multiple days when the sale of alcohol will be prohibited in Mumbai.
All liquor shops, bars, pubs, and wine stores remained closed on 15 August for Independence Day and will be closed on 16 August for Janmashtami, the celebration of Lord Krishna's birth.
The state has marked a strict ban on the sale of alcohol in Mumbai on 27 August and 6 September, the first and last days of Ganesh Chaturthi.
During the 10-day grand festival, concluding with Anant Chaturdashi (Visarjan Day) on 6 September, dry days could be enforced on 5 September due to public processions and large gatherings. If needed, restrictions may apply throughout the entire festival, with a complete ban on the sale of alcohol by licensed shops, restaurants, or bars.
However, there is no bar on private consumption, but purchasing alcohol on these days will not be possible.
Dry Days In Bengaluru
The Bengaluru administration imposed two consecutive dry days this week. Liquor was banned on 15 August for Independence Day and will again be banned on 16 August for Janmashtami.
On these two days, there will be a 48-hour restriction on the sale of alcohol through licensed vendors, restaurants, or bars across the city.
Additionally, Ganesh Chaturthi on 27 August is expected to be a dry day in Bengaluru. Like Mumbai, the administration may also enforce extra restrictions during the immersion celebrations on 6 September.

Dixon Tech, Chinas HKC Overseas form Rs 370-cr JV to make display modules
New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Domestic electronics contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies has formed a Rs 370 crore joint venture for display modules manufacturing with Chinese company HKC Overseas. The Dixon Technologies-HKC Overseas joint venture is for manufacturing and selling of LCD and TFT-LCD modules that are used in electronic devices like TV, mobile phones etc for display, a regulatory filing said on Saturday. 'Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd has entered into a Term Sheet with HKC Corporation Ltd to form a joint venture for manufacturing of Liquid Crystal Modules, thin film transistor liquid crystal display modules, assembly of end products such as smartphones, TVs, monitors and auto displays and selling HKC branded end products in India," the filing said. HKC Overseas Ltd will acquire 26 per cent stake in Dixon Display Technologies Pvt Ltd (DDTPL) for USD 10.998 million, about Rs 95.5 crore and Dixon will acquire 74 per cent stake in the JV for USD 31.3 million, about Rs 274 crore in two tranches. 'The company, HKC and DDTPL have executed the SSHA (share subscription and shareholders' agreement) on August 16, 2025," the filing said. Dixon has been on a spree of forming joint ventures with Chinese technology companies. Last month, the company had announced a JV with Chinese electronic component firms — Chongqing Yuhai Precision Manufacturing Co Ltd and the Indian arm of Kunshan Q Technology — for manufacturing and sales of electronic components used in electronic devices like mobile phones and laptops, among others. Nitish announces special packages for investors
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced a four-point economic package aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs to set up industries in Bihar. Alongside this industrial push, he reiterated his govt's target of providing jobs and work opportunities to one crore young people through govt recruitment, private sector employment and self-employment initiatives over the next five years. The economic package, he said, would specifically benefit investors willing to establish industrial units in the state, supplemented by a range of existing incentives. The announcement was made on the CM's social media handle. Detailing the package, Nitish said, "The four-pronged economic package includes capital subsidy, interest subsidy and the doubling of the incentive money payable under the goods and services tax (GST). The arrangements would be made to provide land to the investors in every district, and the land would be given free of cost to them who will give more jobs." "If there is any dispute on the land allotted for establishing an industrial unit, it would be resolved. All these facilities would be given to those who establish industrial units in the next six months.
