Snoop Dogg becomes co-owner of UK football side
The 53-year-old American star joins former Real Madrid stalwart and Croatia World Cup finalist Luka Modric in the club's ownership structure.
Snoop Dogg made a surprise appearance on the club's social media channels last week modelling their new home jersey for the 2025/26 season and the club announced on Thursday that he has become an investor.
His involvement comes after American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen took over the club last November.
Swansea will hope that Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, can use his 100 million-plus social media followers to boost the club's profile as they seek to return to the Premier League for the first time since they were relegated in 2018.
Swansea's owners have said they want to generate greater revenue, which would allow them to invest more in new players under the profit and sustainability rules in British football.
The 53-year-old rapper said on the club's website: 'My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.
'The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.
'I'm proud to be part of Swansea City.'
Swansea announced in April that Modric, who this week joined AC Milan at the age of 39 after leaving Real Madrid, had acquired a stake in the club.
'To borrow a phrase from Snoop's back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club's reach and profile,' Swansea's owners said in a statement.
'Snoop's colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.
'Snoop has openly shared his love of football and his desire to be involved in the game and we expect his involvement to support us putting as competitive a team as possible out on the field.'
Swansea's Welsh rivals Wrexham have achieved a meteoric rise to the Championship – the second-tier of English football – since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the club in 2020.

Pogacar extends Tour de France lead with uphill time-trial win
PARIS - Tadej Pogacar won a time trial on stage 13 of the Tour de France on Friday to extend his lead at the top of the overall standings to four minutes and seven seconds. Jonas Vingegard and Remco Evenepoel kept their places in the overall top three, but this 10.9km time-trial triumph was defending champion Pogacar's second crushing win in two days. Pogacar was last down the start ramp of the 171 riders setting off from the bottom of the Peyragudes mountain. Decked out in his overall leader's yellow kit, the 26-year-old Team UAE rider was faster from the off despite his exertions from the previous day, when he finished over two minutes ahead of main rival Vingegaard. By the time he finished at the Peyragudes Altiport, where the opening scene of the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" was shot, Pogacar was 36sec faster than Vingegaard, while Primoz Roglic was third at 1min 20sec. Riders warmed up for the time trial wearing ice jackets to combat the sizzling 30C temperature at the foot of the climb. Australian champion Luke Plapp set the early pace and sat in the hot seat all day before suddenly packing his case and vacating it on seeing Vingegaard storm up the mountain. Pogacar was even faster. At 1580m altitude the ride remained beneath the clouds and below the treeline, but even atop the hill it was punishingly hot. American Quinn Simmons gave hundreds of high-fives on the home straight as one of the rare riders appearing to enjoy the climb. Saturday's stage 14 is another punishing affair with around 50km of climbing, starting with the famous Col de Tourmalet and ending at the Luchon-Superbagneres ski resort.

Hunter Harman stalking second British Open crown
BELFAST - Brian Harman said he "has the game" to win the British Open for a second time in three years after a brilliant six-under 65 on Friday shot the American to the top of the leaderboard. The 2023 winner of the Claret Jug made the most of the benign morning conditions on the Causeway Coast to card six birdies in a bogey-free round to move to eight under par. Two years ago at Royal Liverpool, Harman also pulled clear in his second round and was never reeled back in by the field on the way to sealing his first major by six shots. The best the 38-year-old has managed in seven majors since was tied for 21st at last year's US Open. Yet, the 5ft 7in (170cm) Harman's game is tailor made for the seaside links conditions, which are less beneficial for the booming big hitters off the tee than most courses on the PGA Tour. "I just enjoy the creativity and trying to think your way around," said Harman. "You can kind of do it your own way. "I love the golf over here. It suits me. Distance, of course, matters over here, but it doesn't matter as much as maybe some other tournaments, and it doesn't matter because the ground is so firm that the ball rolls." With dark clouds and driving rain rolling in for the afternoon starters on Friday, Harman is likely to go out in the final group come Saturday's crucial third round. But he is trying to stay calm, despite recognising that the chance to contend for majors does not come around often. "I'm not trying to be heroic or do anything crazy. I know that I've got the game to do it, and it's just a matter of executing and staying in my own head," he added. "I was quoted afterwards (winning the 2023 British Open) saying I'd spend the rest of my life trying to get in a position to feel this again because it is, it's the top of our profession, major championships. "Any time you can get in contention, have a chance to win, I mean, that's what we've all worked for our entire lives and you don't get that many opportunities to do that." Boks ready to rock and roll against Georgia in festive Mbombela, says captain Kolisi
Maybe it is something in the water of the Lowveld, possibly it is the air, but there is nothing quite like the atmosphere of a Springbok match at the Mbombela Stadium, where the Springboks host Georgia on Saturday evening (5.10pm). The Boks have a perfect record at the wildlife-themed stadium that was built for the 2010 soccer World Cup. Last year, they put on a terrific show in celebrating Eben Etzebeth's record as the most capped Springbok by blasting Argentina off the park. The year before, the Boks were outstanding in outclassing the All Blacks at a venue where the stand supports are in the shape of giraffes. The Mbombela Stadium is also where Siya Kolisi made his debut for the Springboks in 2013 and, fittingly, it is here that he will play his first international match of the season, having shrugged off injury. 'It's always fantastic to play here, I will never forget my debut in this stadium against Scotland,' said Kolisi. 'The vibe at the stadium is always amazing, and we know that it will be similar to last week in Gqeberha, where the crowd really got involved and inspired us. We are very grateful to the people coming to the stadium. They definitely lift us, so we are grateful for their support.' Kolisi is back in his familiar No 6 jersey after missing the series against Italy and the warm-up against the Barbarians. 'It has been tough not playing. I would have loved to have been involved sooner, but just being in the camp and seeing all the guys again has been good for me,' he said. 'The environment in the team helps a lot both on and off the field.' One of Kolisi's tasks in the game will be to reassure the three players making their debuts in the Bok front row. Props Boan Venter and Neethling Fouche, and hooker Marnus van der Merwe are uncapped. 'I'm very proud of the guys earning their first Test caps, and as a group, we feel there is enough experience in the team for them to know we have their backs. 'They've been training against the likes of Ox (Nche), Wilco (Louw), and Malcolm (Marx), among others, and the players around them have played Test rugby before. Over and above that, a scrum is not only about the front row, it involves everyone in the pack doing their bit, and everyone in the team knows what they have to do.' Springbok assistant coach Mzwandile Stick spoke highly of the Georgians and said the Boks know exactly how tough their players are, and how passionate they will be to represent their country. 'Georgia are a physical team, and they pride themselves on their set pieces, so we know having to match that will be the toughest part for us,' said Stick. 'I've been to Georgia, and I've seen how tough their players are, but the key for us is to improve on our standards consistently. As coaches, we feel there is still room for improvement, so we are hoping to see the players execute the game plan as well as possible and to play with the intensity we expect.' Both Stick and Kolisi wished the Junior Springboks luck for their World Rugby U20 Championship final against New Zealand on Saturday. 'We follow all their games, and they are certainly making the country proud,' said Stick. 'One can see that they know what it means to represent the country, and what stands out for me is their fighting spirit and the cohesion in the team. We'll watch the game and support them all the way.' Kolisi added: 'They are definitely setting a standard, and it's great to see how they are taking their opportunities.
