Madonna Teaming Up with Shawn Levy on Biopic Series for Netflix
Yara Sameh
Music icon Madonna is teaming up with Netflix and director Shawn Levy on a limited series about her life and music.
The series is in early development and is unrelated to the previous Madonna feature film that was set at Universal Pictures, with Julia Garner attached to star as the singer, before being scrapped in January 2023.
It's unclear which part of Madonna's life the limited series would portray or who would play the musical legend.
The singer put the Universal film on pause in favor of embarking on her worldwide 'The Celebration Tour' from October 2023 to May 2024, but sources told Variety at the time of the move's hiatus that 'she remains committed to making a film about her life one day.'
She co-wrote two drafts of the film's script with Oscar winner Diablo Cody and Cressida Wilson ('Secretary,' 'The Girl on the Train') about large periods of her creative life.
'Ozark' star Garner won the role after other stars like Florence Pugh, 'Euphoria' actor Alexa Demie, Odessa Young and Bebe Rexha attended singing and dancing bootcamps.
Madonna's most recent album, 2019's 'Madame X,' sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide and became the ninth No. 1 album of her career. Her 'Celebration Tour' was one of the fastest-selling tours of all time, with more than 1.2 million tickets sold.
Madonna made $225.4 million from 80 shows and played to an audience of 1.1 million.

"The Sandman" to End with Extra Episode
Yara Sameh Netflix's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's ' The Sandman ' is still ending with Season 2, but fans will get one more episode than they believed. The giant streamer revealed on Tuesday that, in addition to the 11 episodes already announced, a bonus twelfth episode will be released on July 31. The bonus episode is titled 'The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living' and will focus on the character Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste). As previously announced, the first six episodes of Season 2 will premiere on July 3, with the next five premiering on July 24. Netflix has also revealed the 11 titles for those episodes, which can be seen below. Season 2 will bring several fan-favorite storylines from the comics to life, including the 'Season of Mists,' 'Brief Lives,' 'The Kindly Ones,' and 'The Sandman: Overture' collections. The season will also include single-issue stories such as 'Tales in the Sand,' 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' 'The Song of Orpheus,' 'Thermidor,' and 'The Tempest,' among others. Per the description for the second and final chapter of 'The Sandman,' 'After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything. Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series, the second season of 'The Sandman' will tell Dream's story arc in full to its thrilling conclusion.' The cast for Season 2 also includes Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Esmé Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester, Barry Sloane, Patton Oswalt, Vivienne Acheampong, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, Ferdinand Kingsley, Stephen Fry, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Razane Jammal, Ruairi O'Connor, Freddie Fox, Clive Russell, Laurence O'Fuarain, Ann Skelly, Douglas Booth, Jack Gleeson, Indya Moore, and Steve Coogan. Netflix and 'The Sandman' showrunner Allan Heinberg had plotted the second season to be the final since before it was filmed in the summer of 2023. However, the streamer did not confirm the end of the show until January of this year, which coincided with the timing of sexual misconduct accusations leveled against 'The Sandman' graphic novel author and series executive producer Neil Gaiman. Jessie J Reveals Early Breast Cancer Diagnosis: "I Am Going to Disappear for a Bit"
Yara Sameh British singer-songwriter Jessica Ellen Cornish, aka Jessie J, has revealed that she had been recently diagnosed with 'early breast cancer.' The musician shared the health update on Instagram on Tuesday, telling her followers that the diagnosis came shortly before the release of her track 'No Secrets' in April. 'Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said. 'I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding on to the word early.' As she continued, she revealed that she has been 'in and out of tests' since the release of the track and wanted to share the video in an attempt to be 'open' about her journey with her supporters. 'I just wanted to be open and share it because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,' she added. 'I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much. Similar and worse.' She continued, 'I'm getting to keep my nipples, that's good. It's a weird topic and a weird situation. And I know the press are going to say crazy stuff but you know what, to get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,' which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean you can't make it up.' In closing her video to fans, Jessie J explained that she will 'disappear for a bit' to undergo surgery following her performance at the Summertime Ball in England on June 15. Celebrity friends and fans online were quick to extend their get-well-soon wishes to Jessie. "You're literally my favorite person and I'm praying for you. You've got this. My mother had it and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough so I'm here for you," Rita Ora commented. "Open book and open heart, we love you and support you always, sending you the best energy for a soon recovery ❤️ warrior," one fan wrote. Jessie J's decision to be open and honest with her health journey aligns with her comments from July, in which she revealed a recent diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD). 'It's empowered me and honestly sometimes has overwhelmed me all at the same time,' she explained, noting that the information had made her think about her life in a whole new way. 'If there is one thing social media has given me, it's the chance to relate, connect, and heal with strangers that have kind hearts and are going through a similar thing. I have always been honest in the journey I'm going through in life.'
