
UAE, Egypt explore use of AI in issuing fatwas
CAIRO (WAM) Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, discussed with Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, ways to enhance cooperation, integration, and the exchange of expertise in the field of fatwa between the UAE and Egypt.The meeting took place on the sidelines of the conference 'The Making of a Competent Mufti in the Digital Age' in Cairo, in the presence of Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities, Dr. Sabaa Salem Al Kaabi, Acting Secretary-General of the Emirates Fatwa Council, and several officials in religious affairs from both sides.
The discussions addressed ways to harness digital technologies and artificial intelligence to deliver accurate fatwas to communities, particularly in light of contemporary challenges and complex issues facing different segments of society.

15 Aug 2025 20:06 CAIRO (WAM) Jordan's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Amjad Adaileh, praised the efforts of the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to support the Palestinian people through urgent relief include sending hundreds of aircraft and ships loaded with food, medical supplies, and shelter materials, as well as establishing the UAE field hospital in Gaza and dispatching relief convoys through Jordanian territory to the statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Friday, Adaileh commended the UAE's historic and steadfast positions toward the Palestinian people, and its consistent commitment to extending a helping hand to its Arab brothers during the most difficult circumstances. He also praised its cooperation with Jordan and other Arab countries to alleviate Palestinian suffering and strengthen their resilience on their highlighted the joint UAE–Jordan humanitarian effort via the Jordanian land bridge and the air drops carried out by both countries to deliver aid. He noted that the UAE and Jordan are working together to transport assistance to the Gaza Strip overland from Jordan, with dozens of trucks carrying humanitarian supplies entering stressed that the UAE and Jordan will never abandon the Palestinian people, pointing to the presence of both Emirati and Jordanian field hospitals in the Strip to treat Palestinians and provide healthcare. He also noted that both countries are receiving and treating the wounded and injured from Gaza in their hospitals. Adaileh concluded by emphasising that tangible actions and concrete assistance are the strongest proof of the Arab effort to support the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

President of Arab Parliament condemns Israel's approval of 3,400 new settlement units in West Bank
15 Aug 2025 17:56 CAIRO (WAM) Mohammed Ahmed Al Yammahi, President of the Arab Parliament, condemned the announcement by Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich approving the construction of 3,400 new settlement units in the E1 area, located between Jerusalem and the West a statement issued on Friday, Al Yammahi said this announcement constitutes a blatant challenge to international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among them the UN Security Council resolutions affirming the illegality of reaffirmed the Arab Parliament's categorical rejection of the policy of escalating settlement activity aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and eradicating the Palestinian held the occupation entity fully responsible for such actions, describing the move as a dangerous escalation of illegal settlement policies, within a systematic plan to impose a fait accompli on the ground. Such actions, he warned, completely undermine the prospects for achieving a just peace and destroy the internationally recognised two-state Yammahi called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council and the sponsors of the peace process, to shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities, take effective measures to halt these violations, and ensure the occupation entity is held accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites. He also urged immediate action to stop the dangerous escalation of settler terrorism, which will only lead to further escalation, tension, and instability.
