Stellenbosch star and CT Spurs teen sensation on PSL clubs radar
Stellenbosch FC star and vice-captain Fawaaz Basadien could be on the verge of a massive move to one of South Africa's football powerhouses. The talented Bafana Bafana left-back continues to draw intense interest from both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, with insiders tipping Masandawana as the front-runners to land his signature.
'If the asking price is met, he could be allowed to leave,' a source close to the situation revealed. Hinting at a possible big-money deal before the season wraps up.
Stellenbosch managed to fend off heavy interest in the previous transfer window, fighting hard to retain Basadien's services. But with his contract situation now evolving and the player reportedly open to a move to Gauteng, a departure feels imminent.
Basadien, known for his defensive solidity and sharp attacking instincts, would be a valuable asset to any of the traditional big three. With the transfer window fast approaching, expect a bidding war to ignite.
The former Swallows full-back scored seven goals and provided six assists in 41 games across all competitions this season.
Cape Town Spurs' teenage sensation Luke Baartman is once again making waves after recovering from a difficult, injury-hit season. The 18-year-old forward, who captured national attention with his debut in the Betway Premiership, is now back on the radar of clubs across South Africa, and even abroad.
'Boere,' as fans affectionately call him, missed much of Spurs' Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign due to injury, including a spot in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations squad. But scouts haven't forgotten his explosive talent.
Rival clubs, including Stellenbosch, have been keeping tabs on the youngster for some time. However, whispers from within the football fraternity suggest that Gauteng sides are also lining up with serious interest.
Baartman's resurgence has re-ignited talk of a potential move, and if the buzz is anything to go by, the teenage prodigy could be wearing new colours very soon.
The Spurs young forward scored two goals and provided one assist in his last two games, netting against Leruma United and contributing a goal and an assist against Pretoria Callies in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Stay tuned with The South African as Stellenbosch star and CT Spurs teen sensation on PSL clubs radar.
Will Basadien finally leave Stellies and will Baartman also seek greener pastures?

Rulani Mokwena: Why I left Wydad
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed the real reasons behind his departure from Wydad. Mokwena joined Wydad at the start of the 2024-25 season following his dismissal from the Brazilians. He had signed a two-year deal which would have officially ended in 2026 but his stint was cut short. Towards the end of his departure, reports surfaced that Mokwena had not been paid for eight months, and he confirmed they were true. But while very few individuals can survive without a salary, the 38-year-old revealed that's not why he left Wydad because football for him is not about money. He is also of the view that results had nothing to do with his departure given that Wydad were sitting third on the log. That despite bringing in almost 30 new players to try and awaken this sleeping giant of African football. However, Mokwena believes a combination of issues from both sides led to his departure after they felt the relationship wasn't working. Furthermore, he believes the presence of his agent Steve Kapeluschnik in Morocco when the story of his unpaid salaries broke didn't help the situation. Rulani Mokwena signed with Wydad in 2024.
