All Creatures Great and Small star leaves Helen Herriot behind for ominous new role
Since the revamped period drama All Creatures Great and Small debuted in 2020, Channel 5 audiences have watched actress Rachel Shenton portray Helen Herriot.
Yet this month, it's been revealed that the 37-year-old is stepping away from her role in the fictional village of Darrowby for a more menacing community.
Rachel is poised to feature in a brand-new thriller on Channel 5 titled The Rumour, which will broadcast later this year after audiences were treated to some initial preview images last week.
Viewers have been offered a brief taste of what they can anticipate from the five-part series as a short teaser has been released on Channel 5's official Instagram.
The footage depicts Rachel's character Joanna strolling down the street with her young son Alfie, who reveals that his mobile was confiscated at the post office, reports the Express.
Stunned, she halts to confront him and asks: "What do you mean?", though her son doesn't respond as he becomes distracted.
Gazing beyond her, he enquires: "What's that on our house?" The camera then sweeps to reveal someone has scrawled in red paint across their garage door 'Rumours Kill'.
It didn't take long for viewers to respond to the brief teaser, with numerous fans expressing their enthusiasm about witnessing Rachel in a fresh role.
Author Lesley Kara, who penned the novel that inspired the series, remarked: "So exciting! Can't believe my novel is finally coming to the screen!"
One excited viewer exclaimed: "I have loved everything she has done, can't wait!" Another shared: "Aww looking forward to this."
Another fan chimed in: "Loved the book, so excited for this!" Overjoyed with the clip, another said: "Looking forward to this."

This included some tough love when she had to take away his phone after he spent the entire night FaceTiming friends instead of resting after surgery! Determined not to leave him alone in case he needed anything, both Taylor and Travis moved in with him for the summer. With additional support from her mother and brother, they were able to help Scott make significant progress in his recovery.

The grand property where the American politician is staying has been unveiled as Dean Manor, a luxurious house built in 1702 during Queen Anne's reign. The manor is nestled in a small hamlet in Oxfordshire, which is home to just 12 properties.
