Rajasthan CM holds emergency meeting after Indian Forces neutralise Pakistani drones, cancels staff leave
Speaking to ANI, Patel said, 'Our armed forces gave a befitting reply to Pakistan. Our ministers and officials were constantly monitoring the situation in the border area. We share the longest border with Pakistan, around 1000 km. In such a situation, we anticipated that Pakistan would attack Jaisalmer, Jodhpur...Last night, our air defence system neutralised Pakistani drones...We got constant active support from the people in our border areas...'
'All the government officials in the border areas are requested to withdraw their leave and remain alert in the region...All our departments are constantly working. The Chief Minister (Bhajanlal Sharma) is monitoring the situation,' he added.
Similarly, Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said, '... The Indian army gave a befitting reply and thwarted the drones sent by Pakistan to Jaisalmer or other border areas of our country to attack civilians yesterday...'
He further added, 'CM Bhajanlal Sharma called a high-level meeting today to issue instructions for whatever suitable arrangements that must be made... The administrative officers whose posts were vacant have also been sent to the border areas, along with the State Police and RAC companies. They have been instructed that the state government will leave no stone unturned in helping the army men, military force, and common people there...'
The Indian Army said, 'Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations (CFVS) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed, and a befitting reply was given to the CFVS. Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force.'
Earlier on Thursday, the Indian Army had shot down more than 50 Pakistani drones during a large-scale counter-drone operation along the LoC and International Borders (IB), sources told ANI.
The Indian Armed Forces also successfully neutralised Pakistan military's attempts at a large-scale drone and missile attack on multiple Indian military installations across Northern and Western India during the night of May 7-8, and an Air Defence system at Lahore was neutralised. (ANI)

Two days of Trump on US-India Trade Talks were scheduled on Thursday and Friday but the two countries have decided to extend the dialogue as both sides were trying to rush through an interim trade agreement before the crucial July 9 deadline, a day ahead of the World Trade Organization's MC12 meeting, reported ANI. The decision to extend the US-India trade talks came as both India and the US are staring at the possibility of the resumption of 26% reciprocal tariffs on trade following expiry of the three-month window period. As part of a tit-for-tat tariff war, these punitive tariffs were announced on each other's imports during the Trump administration on April 2. The tariffs were put on hold for 90 days but will snap back into place if both countries fail to find a deal by July 9.

Quad calls for punishing perpetrators of Pahalgam attack
The Quad grouping has called for bringing the perpetrators, organisers and financiers of the Pahalgam terror attack to justice without any delay and urged U.N. member nations to extend cooperation for it. The Foreign Ministers of the four-nation grouping condemned the April 22 attack in the strongest terms that claimed the lives of 26 civilians and firmly pitched for action against cross-border terrorism. In a joint statement, the Ministers, however, did not mention Pakistan or the four-day military conflict between the Indian and Pakistani militaries in May. The meeting at the U.S. capital city on Tuesday (July 1, 2025) was attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and her Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya. The Quad Foreign Ministers condemned "in the strongest terms" the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, that claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, while injuring several others. "We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and extend our heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery to all those injured," they said. "We call for the perpetrators, organisers, and financiers of this reprehensible act to be brought to justice without any delay and urge all UN Member States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant UN Security Council Resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard," they added. The Quad meeting also announced the grouping's plan to launch a Quad Ports of the Future partnership in Mumbai this year. The Ministers said they remained seriously concerned about the situation in the East China Sea and the South China Sea. "We reiterate our strong opposition to any unilateral actions that seek to change the status quo by force or coercion," they said, referring to Chinese military actions.
