Missing grandmother tried to board flight to Aberdeen before disappearing
Ildiko Maguire, known as Ildie,
The family of a grandmother who tried to board a flight to Aberdeen before she disappeared say they are "overwhelmed with worry".
Ildiko Maguire, from Luton in Bedfordshire, went missing on Saturday, June 21, and was later captured on CCTV travelling on a bus from London Luton Airport to the town's train station late at night the following day.
easyJet staff at the airport have confirmed with family that she returned on Monday, June 23, trying to get a fight to Aberdeen, but she was denied due to not having a passport for travel.
Police say Ildiko, known as Ildie, was further spotted back at a Starbucks at Luton Train Station that evening around 6pm - and that was the last confirmed sighting of the 53-year-old.
Her son Damo Maguire, who is desperate for answers, believes his mum tried to make her way to Scotland by train or coach.
He told the Record: "We are overwhelmed with worry. It's very strange and confusing.
"I am worried for her safety and wellbeing, as she suffers from mental health issues. There is a possible dementia diagnosis, so I think she might be thinking of past times.
"We spent a lot of time in Scotland when I was a child and mum has old friends that live there. She always says her calm place is Fraserburgh Beach.
"I've been looking high and low searching for her but there's just nothing.

Pervert who groomed teenage girl then filmed sex attack in van escapes jail
Callum Hesketh froomed the girl online before bringing her to a van where she was raped by himself and Michael Linfoot and orally raped by Thomas Rae. A pervert who groomed a teenage girl online before filming her being sexually abused in the back of a van has walked free from court. Callum Hesketh, Michael Linfoot and Thomas Rae, all from Chorley, all previously pled guilty to sexual offences against the 15-year-old girl following the incident in Rivington, a popular beauty spot on the West Pennine Moors, near Bolton, Greater Manchester. At Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday they were all handed suspended sentences. Police say Hesketh first messaged the victim in 2018, who was 15 at the time, via a social media messaging platform asking her to take part in a threesome, but the victim declined. Hesketh continued to call and message her for weeks. He would then video call her and ask her to pose in different sexual positions for him while he masturbated, reported the Manchester Evening News. One day in 2018, the victim and her female friend got a lift from the Adlington area with Hesketh and Linfoot. The two men, who were aged 18 at the time, picked the two girls up in a white van - which belonged to Linfoot - in exchange for alcoholic drinks. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Police say they drove to Rivington and parked the vehicle and when the victim's friend received a phone call and stepped out of the van, Hesketh and Linfoot began raping the victim. "While this was happening, Hesketh recorded the sex acts on his mobile phone and sent them out via a broadcast option on a social media platform with the caption, 'GANG BANG OUT HERE'," the statement said. "The victim heard Hesketh talking on his mobile phone and a short while later three more men arrived on motorbikes. One of the men, Thomas Rae, approached the van and removed his penis from his trousers and orally raped the victim." Afterwards, the two girls got into the rear of the van and Hesketh and Linfoot took them back to Adlington. They bought a bottle of wine for them before they drove off. Linfoot admitted one count of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 in Rivington in 2018. The 24 year old was given an 11 months jail sentence suspended for 12 months. Rae, 24, admitted one count of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 in Rivington in 2018 and was given an 11 months jail sentence suspended for a year. Hesketh, 24, pleaded guilty and was convicted of sending sexualised social media messages to the victim, and making indecent videos of a child in Rivington 2018. He was handed an eight month jail sentence suspended for 12 months. Detective Constable Robert Booth said: "Thanks to the bravery of the victim in coming forward and putting her trust in us, we were able to bring these men to justice. It must have been very difficult for her to have to sit through interviews and come to terms with what these men subjected her to, but I hope today's result gives her a sense of justice. "I would like to reach out to victims of rape and sexual abuse that have not yet come forward to let them know that we are here for you, we will support you and work with you at your own pace when you are ready, no matter the passage of time. Finally, I would like to send a clear message to any perpetrators of sexual abuse; that we will not tolerate this abhorrent behaviour, and we will bring you to justice."

Scots woman kept 28 animals in 'rubbish and excrement' in 'appalling' incident
"The smell was overwhelming, and the interior conditions were truly appalling. The floor was completely obscured by a foot-high layer of rubbish, excrement, and discarded items." A Scots dog walker has been given a disqualification order for five years for dogs, cats and other pets after keeping more than 20 animals in squalid conditions. On Monday June 23, Sarah Cummines appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court where she pled guilty to failing to meet the basic welfare needs of dogs, cats and a ferret in her care. Cummines worked as a dog walker and pet sitter when the incidents occurred and admitted to multiple counts of animal neglect after being found keeping animals in a home described as one of the worst ever seen by Scottish SPCA inspectors, reports Aberdeen Live. Inspectors discovered a shocking scene of nine adult dogs, nine puppies, four adult cats, five kittens, and one ferret living among piles of waste, excrement, and debris. The animals had no access to clean resting areas, food, or water, and many were exposed to dangerous and unhygienic conditions. A Scottish SPCA inspector said: "We received a complaint in October 2024 about potential neglect at Cummines' property. On arrival, the smell was overwhelming, and the interior conditions were truly appalling. The floor was completely obscured by a foot-high layer of rubbish, excrement, and discarded items. "Cats were living on top of kitchen cabinets among faeces and filth. The kitchen sink was full of rubbish and clearly had not been in use for some time. The animals had no access to clean areas and were forced to groom themselves in filth, posing serious health risks." "One small dog was seen climbing over piles of waste and jumping between appliances to avoid touching the floor. All the animals were frightened, and the cats were visibly nervous. This was no environment for any animal or human." The investigation also found that the animals were navigating over old dog crates and hazardous items to reach basic spaces like the kitchen or doors. Evidence of chewed beds and distressed behaviours indicated prolonged suffering and stress. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The inspector continued: "We were horrified not only by the condition of the animals but by the state of the entire home. The bedroom was one of the worst rooms we've encountered, and a box room was barricaded shut inside, a ferret had escaped its cage. These were among the worst living conditions for both animals and a human we have ever witnessed." Despite being offered help and the opportunity to relinquish the animals voluntarily, Cummines refused. The Scottish SPCA then removed the animals for their welfare. Alongside her sentence, Cummines was given a community payback order with supervision for one year. A spokesperson for the Scottish SPCA added: "We welcome the court's decision today. No animal should be forced to live in such filth and fear. This outcome sends a clear message that neglecting the welfare of animals will not be tolerated in Scotland." The Scottish SPCA encourages anyone concerned about the welfare of an animal or if they suspect signs of animal neglect to contact their confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
