Fiona Phillips thanks fans for supporting Alzheimer's memoir in rare message
Fiona Phillips has thanked fans for their support of her newly released Alzheimer's memoir in a video message shared by her husband Martin Frizell. In her memoir, Remember When: My Life with Alzheimer's, she opens up about her experience of living with the condition, having been diagnosed three years ago.
Former GMTV host Fiona, 64, announced in 2023 she had been diagnosed with dementia the previous year. The Mirror columnist released her memoir in June with the help of Martin, 66, and journalist Alison Phillips.
Martin took to Instagram this week to share a message from his wife, who's said to have forgotten that she was writing a book by the time they reached its final chapters. He posted footage of Fiona thanking fans for their support over the memoir's release, yesterday, July 18, reports the Mirror.
The video showed Fiona expressing her gratitude as she held an ice cream whilst in a park with Martin. She said in the message to fans: "Hello! Thank you for reading my book. Really good of you. Hope you like it. Okay, bye!"
Martin, who stepped down as the editor of This Morning earlier this year, shared in the caption they had been out for a walk.
He wrote: "Out for a walk and an Almond Magnum on a hot London afternoon and some words of gratitude for all the kind folk thinking of delving into her book."
His post prompted an outpouring of supportive messages. One person wrote: "Oh it's so lovely to see your beautiful wife."
Another said: "So nice to see Fiona looking so great." A third wrote: "Sending you both love, great to see you."
Someone else said in the comments section: "Thank you Martin for this clip of Fiona. So lovely to see her."
Sharing their thoughts, another fan wrote: "So lovely to see Fiona out in the sunshine. Thinking of you both Martin. Big hugs."
Another person reacted to Martin's post: "Lovely little clip. Thank you for sharing." Whilst someone else commented: "Awwww.. it's lovely to see you."
A host of celebrities responded to the post too. Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid: "Loads of love to you both."
This Morning's Alice Beer said: "Congratulations to you both on getting the words on the page. I think you will really help the many many others in a similar situation."
In a statement issued prior to the release of her memoir, Fiona said that she hoped to raise awareness around Alzheimer's following her diagnosis.
She said: "I hope this book can show people a little about what it is like to live with Alzheimer's.
"How frightening and confusing it is. But also how much life can still bring joy and be valued. And if you or someone you love is in the early stages of Alzheimer's, I hope this book brings you some comfort. I want you to know, you are not alone."

Billy Joel says he feels ‘good' after being diagnosed with brain condition
It comes after the 76-year-old singer cancelled all his scheduled concerts, including a show in Edinburgh and Liverpool, after announcing that he was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). The statement shared on Joel's Instagram account in May also revealed that the condition appeared to have been exacerbated by recent performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. Speaking to Bill Maher on his Club Random Podcast, the Piano Man singer shared an update on his health, saying that he was feeling 'good'. He said: 'It's not fixed, it's still being worked on. 'I feel fine, my balance sucks. It's like being on a boat.' According to the NHS website, NPH is an uncommon and poorly understood condition that often affects people over the age of 60 and can be difficult to diagnose as its symptoms include mobility problems and dementia, which are associated with more common conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. He told Maher that he does not know what caused the condition and that, despite not drinking anymore, he thought it might have been caused by that. 'They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I am feeling,' he added. The New York-born singer is best known for songs including Uptown Girl, Tell Her About It and An Innocent Man and has achieved five UK top 10 singles and eight UK top 10 albums. Since beginning his career in the mid-1960s, Joel has won five Grammy Awards and been nominated for 23, and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame by one of his heroes, Ray Charles, in 1999.

Expert's BBQ cleaning hack only needs one common kitchen staple
Cleaning your barbecue grill has never been so easy thanks to his one hack shared by the Queen of Clean herself - and you just need this one kitchen staple ingredient Chefs are up on a sunny day in your garden with your friends and family during the summertime, which is what summer is all about - until it gets to the cleaning part. A cleaning expert has just revealed the ultimate life-saver hack that only needs a common kitchen ingredient. Over time, the barbecue accumulates a lot of dirt as the juices and the grease from the meats seep onto the racks. As they become hard over time, it makes it difficult to remove them. But instead of spending hours using a sponge and dish soap, trying to rub it off, this one hack might be the solution you've been looking for. Lynsey Crombie, also known as the Queen of Clean, shared her number one tip for when it's time to clean your barbecue grill, and all you need is an onion. How to clean your BBQ grill She captioned: "Heat the grill to a high temperature to loosen any stuck-on food and grime. Use an onion you have left over from your BBQ to save waste." Lynsey then told her followers to use a long-handled fork and rub the cut side of the onion over the boiling grill grates. Doing so will then help break down the residue using the onion's natural juices. She explained: "Onions have antibacterial properties that can help sanitise the grill, reducing the presence of harmful bacteria." Her fans flooded the comments section, thanking the Queen of Clean. Other fans also suggested alternative methods to remove the grease from the barbecue grill, ensuring it would be clean and ready for next time. One wrote: "Cleaning a grill is hard work. I'll be trying this next time,' with a second one adding: "This is genius." Another follower suggested: "I like to dip my onion in a bowl with some salt and oil. The salt acts like an abrasive and also seasons the grill. A hack learnt on holidays in Turkey, where BBQ is king!" With a staggering following count of 381k, Lynsey is also known for being a television personality. She gained fame appearing on Channel 4 's program, Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners. Following her stint, the cleaning expert has been sharing tips and tricks regularly on her social media platforms, as well as on ITV 's This Morning. Interestingly, Lynsey has a range of cleaning tools and has also published four books, with her most recent one being The 15 Minute Clean.
