Paranormal investigator dies while on tour with original Annabelle doll
A paranormal investigator died at age 54 while on tour showcasing the original Annabelle doll that inspired the 2014 film.
The doll was being taken to different venues as part of t he Devils on the Run Tour by the New England Society for Psychic Research.
'We are heartbroken and still processing this loss,' NESPR wrote in a statement.
Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera died suddenly at age 54 while on tour showcasing the original Annabelle doll that inspired the 2014 film.
Rivera, a New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) senior lead investigator, died at a Gettysburg hotel on Sunday, during the Devils on the Run Tour, according to US media.
Emergency responders were called to the hotel to administer CPR on a male patient, The Evening Star reported.
NESPR announced his death on Tuesday, writing in a statement:
'We are heartbroken and still processing this loss. Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal. His kindness and passion touched everyone who knew him. Thank you for your support and kind thoughts during this difficult time.'
According to NESPR's website, Rivera had been involved in paranormal research and investigations for over a decade.
'Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, at an early age, he was introduced to haunting phenomena, having witnessed paranormal events occurring in his home. Dan is a US Army veteran and is an expert in the rites and rituals of Santeria,' his profile read.
The Devils on the Run Tour offers ticketholders the opportunity to meet the Annabelle doll.
A description of the doll on the organisation's website reads:
'A student nurse is given a Raggedy Ann doll as a gift, and she brings it home where she lives with a roommate. Almost immediately, the roommates noticed strange occurrences with the doll, and they were introduced to a medium who told them the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle.'
'The two roommates tried to accept the doll's spirit and please it only to have it reciprocate maliciousness and violent intent,' the description continues.
