Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes receives transfer message from Portugal team-mate

Ruben Neves says he would welcome Portugal team-mate Bruno Fernandes at Al-Hilal with open arms this summer.
Fernandes was once again United's shining light across an otherwise wretched season, with the 30-year-old notching 19 goals and 20 assists in his 57 appearances for the club.
Though it is unlikely to provide much consolation, Fernandes went on to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award by a landslide, despite captaining the club to their lowest-ever points total in the Premier League.
Speculation has been mounting that Fernandes could be set for a change of scenery after five-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, despite Ruben Amorim repeatedly underlining his fellow countryman's importance to his project.
Widespread reports claim Al-Hilal are looking to wrap up a stunning deal for Fernandes before their Club World Cup campaign gets underway in a fortnight's time.

The Saudi Pro League outfit are believed to be readying a £100million bid for Fernandes and have intimated they would be prepared to triple the Portuguese's current salary at the Theatre of Dreams.
'I recommend all the players in the national team, of course,' Neves, formerly of Wolves, said when asked about the prospect of Fernandes joining him at Al-Hilal.
'Fortunately, Portugal have produced a lot of talent and continues to do so.
We are a lucky country in that respect. We are also very hard-working. A very small country, but one that has produced excellent players.
'Just yesterday we saw four of our players – Goncalo Ramos, Joao Neves, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha – lift the Champions League. It is an excellent sign for Portugal.
'I would like to have any player from the national team in my side.'

Fernandes is said to be giving 'serious considering' to the prospect of quitting United and initial discussions have taken place between the player's representatives and Al-Hilal.
And while Fernandes is yet to provide any assurances over his future, Amorim remains hopeful that his compatriot will not have his head turned by the extraordinary riches on offer in Saudi Arabia.
'I think he wants to stay,' Amorim told reporters during United's post-season tour of Asia.
'He's really young, he's really good and he needs to be in the best league in the world.
'Of course, I'm the manager, I'm the coach, but sometimes it is the decision of the player. More Trending
'I talk with him and I explain things and I just have that feeling: when you talk to someone you have that feeling that they want to stay.
'Sometimes, in a lot of games this season, he was frustrated, but he knows what we are doing, so the feeling that I have every time I speak with him is that he wants to continue, for sure, with Manchester United, but you never know.'
Asked whether United can afford to turn down the money that Al-Hilal are willing to pay for Fernandes, Amorim replied: 'Yes, we can find another way to earn money.'
Fernandes' current contract with the Red Devils runs through to June 2027.

Gary Neville says Man Utd can't lose in win-win Bruno Fernandes transfer dilemma

Bruno Fernandes looks set to stay at Manchester United, leaving Gary Neville undecided over the future of Ruben Amorim's most important player following a torrid season Manchester United can't lose amid the Bruno Fernandes transfer saga, according to Gary Neville. The Portuguese playmaker's future has been up in the air since he conceded after the Europa League final defeat to Spurs that he could be offloaded this summer, despite being United's standout player during an abject campaign. Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have been pushing to sign Fernandes ahead of the Club World Cup. The playmaker was reportedly seriously considering accepting a £700,000 per week deal. Al-Hilal were also said to be prepared to pay up to £100million for the 30-year-old, cash that could have been ploughed into the much-needed revamp of the squad. ‌ However, according to fresh reports, Fernandes has rejected Al-Hilal's interest and looks set to remain at Old Trafford, having consulted with his family. ‌ Speaking on the It's Called Soccer show ahead of the latest development, Neville insisted the reported £100million fee would have been a good deal for United as they strive to remain within PSR restrictions. However, the Sky Sports pundit said his former club also need a player of Fernandes' quality and leadership. Neville said: 'I'm torn on this one because if the £100million fee is right and United get that, I don't think it's a bad fee. In fact, I think it's a great fee for someone at that age. United have had great years out of him. But I also think, if he stays, [he's saying] 'No, I want fight this out and turn it around'. I also think that's a great thing as well. 'So I'm 50-50 in what I think about it. The £100million United need to rebuild the squad. On the other hand, they need players with personality and quality, and they haven't got that many. In fact, he's the only one they've got. For me, it's a no-lose situation.' Fernandes captained United as they rounded off their post-season trip to Asia with a 3-1 friendly win against Hong Kong. Asked whether that might have been Fernandes' last appearance for the club, Amorim said: 'I don't think so. ‌ 'I don't know for sure, nobody knows, but I don't think so. I think he is seeing us taking some actions to change all the things and I think that is all that he asked. I think he wants to stay. 'He's saying no to a lot of things, but it shows that he wants to win and I think he's really young, he's really good. He needs to be in the best league in the world." A fee of £100m would help fund this summer's much-needed rebuild as United navigate PSR. Pushed on whether United could turn down such a figure, Amorim said: 'Yes, yes. We can find another way to earn money.'

Bruno Fernandes to reject £200m Saudi Arabia move

Bruno Fernandes is ready to reject a move to Saudi Arabia to stay in Europe following talks over a lucrative deal with Al-Hilal. The Manchester United captain, 30, has been the main summer target for the Saudi champions as they look to add to their squad before playing in the Fifa Club World Cup this month. But it is understood that Bruno has reservations about playing in the Saudi Pro League and could make an announcement tonight while on international duty with Portugal where is scheduled to speak ahead of the Nations League semi-final with Germany. Fernandes's agent, Miguel Pinho, held talks in the Four Seasons hotel in Riyadh last week with the possibility of leaving Old Trafford raised. Al-Hilal are looking to make up to three signings this summer and take advantage of United's financial problems with a deal that could be worth between £80 million and £100 million. The net salary for Bruno would have been the UK equivalent of more than £1 million per week before tax. With years of losses, United's financial plight saw them go on a post-season tour of Asia to generate funds. Earlier in the season co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said they would have gone 'bust by Christmas' without cost-cutting measures. After their win against Hong Kong on tour, Ruben Amorim, the manager, was asked whether it was Fernandes's last game in a United shirt, and replied: 'I don't think so. I don't know for sure. I think he wants to stay. He is saying no to a lot of things. The club can find other ways to make money. The feeling I get is that he wants to continue for sure with Man United, [but] you never know.' Bruno gave no guarantees over his future when asked towards the end of the season, and funds would have helped United reshape their squad. They have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves to add to their attack, while Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford is another target, which Telegraph Sport revealed last month. 'We are a bit limited [in the transfer market] and we can't do it all in one summer. But there is a clear picture for what we want,' Amorim said.
