Kpop Demon Hunters becomes Netflix's most-watched original animated film of all time
The musical fantasy film topped Netflix's chart in 41 countries during its opening week and reclaimed the No. 1 spot globally in its fourth week.
In its sixth week, it racked up another 26.3 million views from July 21 to 27, securing its place in the platform's top 10.
Currently sitting at No. 2 on Netflix's global English Film list—behind Happy Gilmore 2—the film's popularity continues to surge, defying the usual decline in streaming numbers over time.

The film's soundtrack has also taken the charts by storm. With most of its songs on the Billboard Hot 100, it's the highest-charting soundtrack of 2025 to date. The standout tracks include Golden and Takedown, the latter performed by members of K-pop group Twice — Jeongyeon, Chaeyeong, and Jihyo.
Directed by Maggie Kang (The Lego Ninjago Movie), Kpop Demon Hunters tells the story of HUNTR/X, a fictional K-pop girl group who moonlight as demon hunters. Their adversaries are the Saja Boys — a rival boy band whose members are secretly demons.
The film blends English and Korean dialogue, with cultural nods to dokkaebi (goblins), the jeoseung saja (grim reaper), and real-world locations like Namsan Park.
The voice cast includes Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo, with appearances by Lee Byung-hun, Ahn Hyo-seop, Daniel Dae Kim and Ken Jeong.

#SHOWBIZ: Lee Sinje marks debut in a Chinese-language Netflix series with 'The Resurrected'
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian-born actress Lee Sinje, also known as Angelica Lee, is set to star in the upcoming Netflix thriller series The Resurrected. This will be her debut in a Chinese-language Netflix series and a new venture for the actress, who is from Kedah. The series is co-directed by acclaimed Taiwanese filmmakers Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-jen. Lee is best known for her leading roles in the acclaimed films The Eye (2002)—which earned her the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress—and The Garden of Evening Mists (2019). She also served as a producer on the critically acclaimed Malaysian film Abang Adik (2023). In a statement yesterday, Lee shared her excitement: "I've never encountered a female-driven story that's so intense, a little wild, and deeply emotional. It was such a thrill to be a part of it, and of course, I'm even more excited for the day we get to share it with audiences around the world." Lee will star alongside acclaimed Hong Kong–Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, who is also making her first appearance in a Chinese-language Netflix production. K-pop singer Lee Min of duo As One, aged 46, found dead at home; police investigating
SEOUL, Aug 6 — Lee Min, one half of the South Korean vocal duo As One, died yesterday at the age of 46. Her agency Brandnew Music said the singer whose real name was Lee Min-young was found dead at her home, South Korean media reported. The agency did not specify the cause of death, only saying that police are investigating the circumstances. 'We ask that people refrain from excessive speculation until the investigation concludes,' a Brandnew Music official was quoted by Korea JoongAng Daily as saying. Lee debuted with fellow singer Crystal as As One in 1999. They released a single titled Happy Birthday to You two months ago in June. Among their hits are Day by Day (1999), Desire and Hope (2001) and I'm Fine (2001). Lee was reported to have been active in the music industry until recently. She appeared on KBS 2TV's The Seasons: Park Bogum's Cantabile on July 4, featured on a single by comedian Moon Se-yoon and rapper Hanhae. In addition to her music career, Lee worked as a music teacher. She married a former office worker in Hawaii in 2013.
