These sessions aim to inspire personal growth, strengthen connections, and cultivate leadership among women across the organization.
In the latest session, which drew strong engagement from employees across various departments, renowned coach and consultant Rehab Al-Tawari led an insightful talk titled 'Building Connections: Strengthening the Assets That Matter.' Tailored specifically for early-career female employees, the session offered an engaging and interactive experience, guiding participants through the importance of professional relationships and strategies to nurture key personal assets in the workplace. Drawing from her rich experience in the banking and education sectors, Al-Tawari sparked meaningful conversations on how to thrive during the early stages of one's career.
The Women of Wisdom (WOW) initiative provides a supportive platform for women to navigate workplace challenges, find balance between personal and professional life, and boost female representation in leadership roles. It also serves as a space for networking, idea-sharing, and open dialogue around the experiences and challenges women face throughout their careers. Gulf Bank was one of the first banks in Kuwait to eliminate gender-based disparities in employee benefits, ensuring equal opportunities and treatment for both male and female staff.

Insurance Regulatory Unit issues new rules for mandatory policies
Part of efforts to enhance transparency, safeguard policyholders' rights KUWAIT: The Insurance Regulatory Unit (IRU) announced on Sunday the issuance of Decision No. 19 of 2025, setting out new rules for issuing mandatory insurance policies in Kuwait, with the exception of compulsory vehicle insurance for civil liability arising from traffic accidents. The step comes as part of efforts to enhance transparency, safeguard policyholders' rights and strengthen the local insurance market. Head of the IRU Mohammad Al-Otaibi said in a press statement that the decision introduces several key obligations for insurance companies, including the addition of a declaration and pledge clause in policy conditions confirming that the insured is fully aware of the terms, exceptions and coverage limits. The rules also require the inclusion of a quick response (QR) code in all policy documents containing related data, alongside clear provisions for policy cancellation, refund mechanisms and transparent calculation of premiums. Al-Otaibi explained that the decision is designed to improve monitoring through digital tools, prevent forgery, and raise awareness of the rights and obligations of market participants. He noted that by setting a unified mechanism for premium calculation, the rules eliminate discrepancies in pricing practices among companies, thereby reinforcing transparency between insurers and customers. The QR code system will come into effect 180 days after the decision's publication in the Official Gazette, allowing companies sufficient time to update systems and ensure compliance. From the date of publication, however, all insurers are required to adhere to unified principles and standards when issuing mandatory policies. The annex to the decision, he added, outlines technical requirements for electronic system development, information security and beneficiary awareness, ensuring the safe issuance and use of electronic documents while preventing fraud or manipulation. Al-Otaibi stressed that the move represents a significant step in upgrading the insurance sector's infrastructure and aligning it with international best practices. KD 1bn deal for Al-Zour upgrade
Consortium including ACWA Power to design, finance, and operate new plant phases KUWAIT: Kuwait signed a deal on Sunday to double the production capacity of the North Al-Zour Power and Water Plant by 2028, at a total cost of KD 1 billion. The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), which oversees public-private partnership (PPP) projects, announced that the commitment document was signed with a consortium including the Saudi ACWA Power Company and the Gulf Investment Corporation. The project covers the construction of the second and third phases of the Al-Zour North Plant, which will produce 2,700 megawatts of electricity and 120 million imperial gallons of desalinated water on top of the plant's current production. This expansion will make it the largest power plant project in Kuwait's history. KAPP described the venture as a pivotal step in the state's strategy to meet growing demand for water and electricity, strengthen the national power network, and support future development projects. Located on the Arabian Gulf coast about 100 kilometers south of Kuwait City, the new plant will occupy roughly 500,000 square meters. It will be adjacent to the western part of the first phase of the Al-Zour North Plant and the northern section of the Al-Zour South Plant. This includes the first phase of the Al-Khairan Power Plant, phases three and four of the Al-Shagaya renewable energy project, and plans to modernize older power plants in Shuaiba, Al-Zour, and Doha. The ministry emphasized that the plant aims to encourage private sector participation, leveraging its expertise to reduce construction and operating costs, accelerate completion, and optimize natural resource use. Under the agreement, the winning consortium will design, finance, build, operate, and maintain the plant, producing electricity and desalinated water. Public shares will be issued to support execution, aligning with Law 39/2010 on establishing Kuwaiti shareholding companies for power and water projects and its amendments, as well as Law 116/2018 on public-private partnerships. A group of local and international banks will finance the project with contributions exceeding KD 1 billion (approximately $3.2 billion). The North Al-Zour Plant will be Kuwait's first privately-owned gas-fired combined cycle power and desalination facility. Its output will be supplied to the national power and water grid under a 40-year Energy Conversion and Water Purchase Agreement (ECWPA) with the Ministry of Electricity and Water. — KUNA
