Kadapa turns into a sea of yellow on final day of TDP's Mahanadu

Time of India3 days ago

Kadapa: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) showcased its strength by making the three-day Mahanadu a grand success, with Kadapa transforming into a sea of yellow on the final day of the conclave.
TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh proved his point that Kadapa is no longer a stronghold of rival YSRCP, with a stunning turnout at the public meeting.
The enthusiasm of the leaders and cadres indicated that Kadapa can no longer be considered a fortress of YSRCP. The TDP alliance won seven assembly constituencies out of 10 in the erstwhile Kadapa district in the 2024 elections, and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of winning all 10 seats in the next elections.
The party leadership was jubilant after witnessing the massive crowd at the public meeting. Thanks to the cool climate, party activists enthusiastically reached the venue, holding party flags and cycle symbols. All routes to Kadapa from across the state were packed, with thousands of vehicles stranded on roads, prompting TDP fans to walk for several kilometers to reach the venue.
Although the TDP leadership designated around 500 acres of land for parking vehicles about 5 km away from the venue, thousands of vehicles were compelled to park almost 10-15 km away due to the traffic jam on the outskirts.
Ahmed Khan, a septuagenarian, remarked, "I have never seen such a huge crowd in Kadapa town in my life."
Several legislators rushed party activists from their constituencies in special buses, with senior leaders organizing breakfast, lunch, and water for the activists.
Finance Minister Peyyavula Keshav observed, "The turnout clearly indicates that we are on the right track. The grand show of strength reflects the faith of people in the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the young and dynamic leadership of Nara Lokesh."
Taking the inputs from the party leaders into consideration, R&B minister BC Janardhan Reddy and his team set up makeshift food stalls all along the route to provide food to party activists even before they reach the venue. He directed his team members to ensure that no party activist complains about the shortage of food anywhere near Kadapa. The decision to set up food stalls away from the venue was taken in view of the traffic jams on the highways.
While it took nearly 2-3 hours to reach the venue after entering Kadapa city, it took more than five hours to move out of the city during their return journey. Several legislators and senior leaders were also stranded in the traffic due to the flood of TDP activists in the city.
Legislators particularly from Chittoor, Kurnool, Ananthapuram, Nellore, Prakasam and Kadapa shouldered additional responsibility in moving the party activists to the public meeting.

‘Betrayal Day' posters launched

Kodumur: Former KUDA Chairman and Kodumur Constituency Coordinator Kotla Harshavardhan Reddy, along with Kodumur Constituency In-charge Dr Adimulapu Suresh, released a poster announcing the upcoming 'Betrayal Day' protest to be held on June 4 in Gudur town on Sunday. The event is being organised as per the directions of former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party State President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The poster release ceremony was attended by party leaders, local representatives, and activists, with a collective call to make the protest a grand success. Addressing the media on the occasion, Harshavardhan Reddy and Dr Adimulapu Suresh strongly criticized the ruling alliance government, accusing it of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh. They alleged that even after completing one year in power, the coalition government has failed to fulfill the promises made to the public. The leaders highlighted how the alliance government, formed after the 2024 elections, has consistently misled the people by not implementing the commitments it made before the elections. They claimed that the present government has deceived every section of society — students, women, farmers, and the underprivileged. 'The people were lured with attractive promises during the elections, but the reality has been a stark contrast. Not a single assurance has been implemented, revealing the true nature of the TDP-led coalition,' said Dr Suresh. Kotla Harshavardhan Reddy said that June 4 would serve as a crucial moment to expose the betrayal of the alliance government. He appealed to YSRCP cadres, local leaders, farmers, youth, and the general public to gather in large numbers at Gudur to voice their discontent through peaceful democratic protest. Several prominent local leaders also took part in the poster launch event, including ZPTC member Raghunath Reddy, former Deputy Sarpanch Praveen, former Society President Krishna Reddy, and YSRCP Mandal Convenor Ramesh Naidu. The YSRCP leadership reaffirmed that their fight will continue until justice is served to the people of Andhra Pradesh and urged everyone to join hands in making 'Betrayal Day' a historic demonstration of public voice and democratic resistance.

Jagan flays CM for stopping MDUs

Tadepalli: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lambasted the coalition government for its anti-people policies and stalling the rice door delivery system which was like a boon to the poor and providing employment to weaker sections. Taking to social media posts on X, he said Chandrababu Naidu has been showing vindictive attitude towards the operators of Mobile Dispensing Units (MDUs) who were delivering the ration at the doorstep of the poor. He said, the operators numbering over 20,000 belong to BC, SC, ST and minorities and winding up the door delivery system affects them and their families badly. He asked if it was fair to do away with this system - harming the operators on one hand and making uncharitable remarks by describing them as 'smugglers and mafia' on the other? They were serving people even during the times of calamities and floods. He recalled that before YSRCP has come to power, people have faced numerous difficulties in procuring ration and other government welfare schemes He said daily wage earners bore the brunt as they did not know when the ration would be given and how much and they had to forego their work to get ration from the shops. He said they faced discrimination and insults in the process as the measure and quality were inferior and some of them were forced to give up taking ration even. He recalled that YSRCP government has introduced the door delivery of quality rice through vehicles in a transparent manner and checked malpractices. Now stopping the door delivery system, which was acclaimed nationwide, is nothing but opening the doors for irregularities and cheating the poor.
