You Could Play "I Spy" with J. Lo's Glittery 3D Nails
Getty Images As the parent of a four-year-old, I play a lot of 'I Spy"—in the car, at restaurants, poring over the iconic I Spy book series. You know what would fit right in in the pages of those books? Jennifer Lopez's latest manicure! Lopez's concert nails, designed by her go-to manicurist Tom Bachik, are a visual feast with so many blink-and-you'll-miss-them references, they needed their own Instagram grid post. If you were watching her from the arena floor, you probably wouldn't get to see all the details, which is why we're so thankful Bachik posted a close-up at his work so we could pore over every intricately designed nail. The long, coffin-shaped nails were a mix of burgundy, milky pale pink, and gold tones, embellished with sparkling charms, gemstones, and pearls for a royal vibe. Lopez is currently traveling through Europe on her 'Up All Night' tour, which kicked off in Spain. However, the singer-actor-dancer brought a little bit of home to the stage with one of her nails, which featured the New York Yankees logo in gold and rhinestones; more gemstones danged from the 'Y," ending in a large garnet stone. There were bows, crosses, sacred hearts, and even what appears to be the Chanel interlocking 'C' logo, framed by dangling small pearls. See what I mean about 'I Spy?' I spy, with my little eye… Though Lopez typically wears a much more neutral manicure for her day-to-day life and red carpet events, she likes to go all out with her performance nail art. For a trip to Dubai, she and Bachik whipped up a Swarovski crystal butterfly manicure that we're still thinking about. When she performed at an Elie Saab show in late 2024, her nails were encrusted with even more Swarovski crystals for the definition of superstar sparkle. Lopez has a full touring schedule through mid-August; the 'Up All Night' tour takes her through Italy, Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, and more. We've got a feeling Bachik is already busy whipping up many more ornate manicures for us to ogle. Can't wait! We Found the Chicest Ways to Wear Butter Yellow This Summer
This season, we're taking style cues from the dairy aisle. Butter yellow is the latest food-inspired hue to creep to widespread fame, and while it's hardly news that spring is a great time to wear pastels, this particular shade's ubiquity is too overwhelming to ignore. After a star turn on the spring/summer 2025 runways, the subtle lemon color has trickled down to countless retailers—the fun part for you is figuring out how to style it. Butter yellow is basically a color chameleon (read: a neutral). It can be delicate and ethereal, done in airy silhouettes like those seen at Chanel and Chloé. It can offer an equally pared-back alternative to hues like beige and white, like the minimalist structured tailoring and clean lines at Loewe or Toteme. It can be the foundation of a color-blocked ensemble, à la 16Arlington and Alaïa, or the star of an all-over buttery look, as with Jacquemus and Zimmerman. Somewhere between zingy citron and subdued sorbet, it's the perfect color to incorporate into your wardrobe if you're craving something fresh. To get you started with some styling inspiration, here are five editor-approved ways you can wear the butter-yellow trend this summer. Top off a coordinating knit vest and mini skirt with some slingback kitten heels. And, for a final finishing touch, try this shimmering French pin that looks remarkably like the aforementioned iridescent coat from Loewe's spring/summer 2025 season. For a high-contrast combination, pair your buttery yellow pieces with rich shades of merlot and dark cherry. This polished ensemble is tasteful enough to wear to the office. St. Agni's foldable flats can slip easily into your commuting bag, while Aligne's flouncy midi skirt will get a second life in your vacation wardrobe once you officially clock out for your PTO. This pale hue is perfect for brightening up moodier neutrals, from charcoal to olive green to navy. Try layering Vince's roomy butter-yellow polo over a gray button-down and navy trousers. As for accessories? Get in on this year's chunky aviators trend with an orange-tinted pair from Elisa Johnson. Butter yellow was practically made for summer weddings. Rather than lean into saccharine clichés, ground the sunny shade with bold patterns and textures; for example, a buttercream gown paired with snakeskin kitten heels and a studded black bag. Silver accents, like a cord pendant necklace and gleaming hair cuff, will add all the polish you need. Yellow, blue, and red may feel like an overpoweringly bold combination to wear all at once—but butter yellow, blue, and red? Completely different story. Here, Everlane's butter-yellow ribbed tee is a pared-back contrast to Leset's cornflower blue trousers and Intimissi's tomato-red crew socks. Paired with a rich chocolate brown layer and loafers, it makes an easy casual weekend look. Why Trust ELLE Every product featured on is independently researched, tested, or editor-approved. ‘Butter Skin' Is the Soft-Focus Glow Trend Every Celebrity Is Trying
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. If you're on social media, you're likely familiar with the term 'butter skin.' For the uninitiated, the trend—which celebrates a smooth, butter-like complexion—has been making waves on TikTok, where creators demonstrate how to achieve the soft-focus finish through precise makeup techniques, seamless application, and targeted skin care steps. Beauty experts now predict it will soon overtake the glossy, 'glass skin' and donut-esque looks that have long dominated our feeds. And with Google searches on the rise—Google Trends reports more than 300,000 searches in the past month alone—and with videos multiplying, butter skin is poised to become our latest skin care-makeup fascination. Case in point: The fledgling trend has made its way onto the red carpet, where soft-focus skin dominates this year. Everyone from Elle Fanning and Margaret Qualley to Anok Yai and Mikey Madison has embraced the softer aesthetic, eschewing the high-shine complexions often associated with red-carpet beauty. Instead, the stars opted for natural radiance. The result was neither overly matte and one-dimensional nor ultra-illuminated and glossy, but hydrated, fresh, and smooth. Since then, famous faces such as Daisy Edgar-Jones and Dakota Johnson have also been making a case for skipping the supernatural glow in favor of a softer finish. 'The butter skin makeup trend is all about achieving a smooth, creamy, and radiant complexion that looks as soft and even as butter,' says Chanel makeup artist Anna Payne. 'Unlike the ultra-dewy glass-skin trend, butter skin has a more natural, satin-like finish—it's hydrated and glowing but never overly shiny.' Skin care, as always, is the first step in recreating the trend. 'To achieve this look, start with a rich, nourishing moisturizer—Payne recommends Chanel's Sublimage La Crème Texture Suprême—as it creates a buttery-soft base. Then apply concealer only where needed to keep the finish fresh and skin-like,' she says. Aim for skin that feels nourished, not slick. Use a gentle exfoliating toner, and steer clear of oil-based or overly mattifying formulas. Finish with a hydrating serum followed by a rich moisturizer. Makeup-wise, skip glosses, highlighters, and ultra-dewy finishes—as well as heavy matte powders—and reach for lighter, serum-like textures: think skin tints, tinted moisturizers, or foundations with a soft-focus or velvet finish. Lock everything in with an invisible setting powder such as Hourglass Vanish Pressed Powder. A cream bronzer can help you nail the soft finish. 'Warm up the face with a cream bronzer, blending it on the high points where the sun naturally hits and softening the edges with your foundation brush for a seamless look,' says Payne. She adds that you can finish with a tinted lip balm and a cream blush. Butter skin is showing up on the runway as well—see Giorgio Armani's fall/winter 2025 show, where models' complexions looked butter-soft and radiant, and Hermès's ethereal glow. Whether it's the runway, the red carpet, or TikTok's latest obsession with delicious beauty terms, expect to see even more of this trend this season.
