AJSU Partys Sudesh Mahto criticised law and order situation in Jharkhand
Ranchi, Jul 27 (PTI) Alleging that the law and order situation has crumbled in Jharkhand, AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto on Sunday said this issue will be raised strongly during the upcoming monsoon session of the assembly.
Addressing the party's 'Milan Samaroh' programme, during which several people joined it, he also raised questions over the limited number of days in the monsoon session.
'Our agenda for the upcoming monsoon session will focus on the law and order situation. Crimes related to land, land compensation, and the misuse of government machinery will also be prominent agenda items for the party," he said.
'The monsoon session will be convened for a very short period. There is a limited number of days. The government has not yet decided on a subject for open debate," he added.
The monsoon session will begin on August 1 and continue till August 7. There will be five working days in the session.

Rajya Sabha allots 2 hours for discussion on extension of President's rule in Manipur
New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) The Rajya Sabha has allotted two hours to discuss the resolution to extend President's rule in Manipur for another six months from August 13. Earlier, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat had said, 'Amit Shah, Minister of Home Affairs; and Minister of Cooperation, has given a notice of the following Resolution which has been admitted:- 'That this House approves the continuance in force of the Proclamation dated the 13 February, 2025 in respect of Manipur, issued under article 356 of the Constitution by the President, for a further period of six months with effect from 13 August, 2025'.' The BJP has been making efforts to form a new government in the state and the Meitei and Naga MLAs have been conducting a month-long campaign pushing for a government in the violence-hit state. He had earlier questioned the arrest of the nuns, alleging that innocent people had been jailed while the real culprits had been let off. The three, who had come from Agra, were accompanying three young women aged between 18 and 19. According to a police officer, the nuns were allegedly taking the women, who were residents of Narayanpur, to Agra. 'The women were lured with promises of good facilities and a monthly salary of ₹8,000 to ₹10,000,' the police officer said. They were arrested on the complaint of a local Bajrang Dal functionary, who accused the nuns of forcibly converting the three girls and trafficking them. During questioning, the women said that they were initially promised jobs in Chhattisgarh but on reaching Durg, they were told they would be taken to Agra. Following the arrest, Venugopal wrote to Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai, saying that the nurses had parental consent. 'The nuns, part of the Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate (ASMI), were accompanying three young women with full parental consent for employment purposes when they were targeted,' he said. The police have registered a case under Section 143 (trafficking of person) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 (religious conversion) of the Chhattisgarh Religious Freedom Act, 1968. The nuns have been remanded to police custody till August 8.
