Both teenagers at the time, they met when 1D returned to perform on the ITV singing contest that her band Little Mix went onto win. Just months later, the young stars were a fully fledged couple, sharing sweet selfies from places like Disneyland. But it was never plain sailing as Zayn was alleged to have cheated with an Australian waitress in a London club, and was later hit with more claims of infidelity. In 2013, he demonstrated his commitment by getting a portrait of Perrie tattooed on his arm and even bought her mum a house in Dorset. But in 2015, they split — and she was left devastated, with reports at the time that he had ended their almost four-year romance by text. The ordeal inspired one of Little Mix's biggest hits, the chart-topping Shout Out To My Ex. 'TOXIC' RELATIONSHIP Now 32, the mother-of-one, who is happily engaged to her fiancé, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. has discussed her "toxic" relationship with Zayn. Speaking on this week's Paul C. Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast, she said: 'I think definitely, at the time, I thought everything we experienced in our relationship was normal. Because it was my first relationship, first love. 'I was like, 'Oh, this is how it's supposed to feel. It's supposed to feel a little bit toxic. In some ways, this is probably normal, right?'. Brave Perrie Edwards reveals devastating miscarriage at six months & shares heart-breaking detail of how she'd already planned baby's bedroom 'And then, when I became single, I was almost thinking, 'I never, ever want to go through that again'. I didn't even want to meet anybody. I was like, that's me done. I don't think I could bear that pain. 'But now, I'm thinking, 'Oh, that probably wasn't good'. And I've noticed it a lot." Perrie also talked about how her past pain affected the early days of her relationship with Alex, who she started dating in 2017 - two years after her Zayn split. 'Like in the start of the relationship, I would handle things differently with Alex, and he'd come at it with such a level head that it would throw me," she said. On what kind of man Alex is, Perrie continued: 'He's very mature. He's very laid back. He's very level-headed. "He's not the type to get mad or get angry or get funny about things. It might sound boring to some, but it's so unproblematic.' 6 Perrie was left 'devastated' by her break-up with Zayn Credit: Instagram 6 The star said she felt 'uncomfortable' when Zayn got in touch with her Credit: Getty ZAYN GETS IN TOUCH Following his split from Gigi, Perrie said Zayn got back in touch with her - something that left her "uncomfortable", especially when she had to tell Alex. She shared: 'My ex reached out and I didn't know how to handle the situation. I'd only been with Alex like a year and a half, two years. And I felt a bit uncomfortable about it. 'And I remember sweating and panicking, thinking, 'I've got to tell him that obviously I've spoken to him.' And I would be terrified... And he was like, 'Okay, well, I really appreciate you telling me, thank you for letting me know. That's fine. Like, hopefully he doesn't contact you again.' 'And I was thinking, 'Okay, cool. That's it.'' HAPPILY EVER AFTER Perrie is now embracing life as a wife-to-be, and a mother-of-one. The singer and her fiance Alex welcomed their son Axel, four, in 2021, and the pair are enjoying being parents. The footballer asked Perrie to marry him in 2022, when he got down on one knee on holiday. The happy couple have been together since November 2016, although they didn't make their relationship public until February 2017.

American sparks debate after calling popular Scottish waterpark ‘creepy and abandoned'

A TikToker shared old photos of the Time Capsule's dinosaurs in a video that drew over 2,000 comments A TikToker known for exploring spooky attractions around the world has baffled Scottish viewers after claiming the Time Capsule in Coatbridge is a 'creepy abandoned waterpark.' ‌ US-based content creator @whyjordie, who describes herself as the 'submechanophobia queen' and specialises in animatronics and ocean-themed fears, recently shared a video featuring old photos of the Lanarkshire waterpark. The clip, which has drawn more than 2,000 comments, focuses on the dinosaurs that once roamed the attraction in the 1990s, Glasgow Live reports. ‌ The video is titled: 'This indoor water park that is now abandoned; at one point had a T-Rex statue in the pool, very submechanophobia coded and the fact that it's abandoned now is horrifying.' ‌ In the short voiceover, she speculates: 'Just knowing this waterpark is still there but abandoned, probably completely closed off to the public, in the complete darkness, possibly still with water in it – who knows? With this giant T-Rex in it. Also why does it have like the B-word in its mouth? The red stuff. 'Imagine going down this little slide and just being in front of this T-Rex in water? Why would they do this?!' For many Scots, the images immediately evoked memories of the dinosaurs that made the Time Capsule famous when it first opened in the early 1990s. While locals often admitted the T-Rex slide, complete with its blood-red mouth, was unsettling, the idea that the attraction now lies abandoned has been met with bemusement. TikTok users in Scotland were quick to defend the leisure centre in the comments. One wrote: 'The Time Capsule is abandoned? Since when? Last night when it closed?' ‌ Another added: 'Never in my life did I expect to see an American on my fyp talking about Time Capsule.' Not everyone disagreed with the American TikToker's eerie interpretation, however. One commenter admitted: 'This what started my submechanophobia, I went when I was about 3/4 and lasted about 5 mins in the water.' ‌ While the dinosaurs disappeared more than a decade ago, the Time Capsule is far from abandoned. In fact, it has just reopened following a significant refurbishment programme. The popular family attraction closed earlier this year to allow for essential upgrade work, which has now been completed. ‌ Improvements include new pumps and blowers for the waterfalls and river rapids, along with more than a mile of new wiring to modernise the electrical systems. Visitors can now also enjoy colour-changing underwater LED lights, designed to enhance the atmosphere of the pools. ‌ Safety and comfort have been prioritised with the installation of soft rubber flooring at Splashdown Island and Coral Cove. Repairs have also been made to the river rapids and tiles throughout the complex, while the shower facilities have been upgraded to provide a fresher experience for guests. Not every feature is back in use just yet. The much-loved tipping bucket and the yellow flume remain closed while further developments take place. However, the purple flume is ready and open to the public.

"Saturdays and Sundays, from breakfast time early in the morning until two o'clock." He added: "I'm here sometimes, cooking for you so you can get a selfie and all that sort of craic as well." One follower commented: "Keep up the great work Charlie." Another added: "That's 25 minutes from me see you tomorrow ill have sausage bacon on thick bread with brown sauce and my Scooby will have 6 sausages please." Charlie joined the Coronation Street cast as Jim McDonald in 1989, staying on for an impressive 11 years. He quit the role in 2000 - but has returned for brief stints, most recently in 2018. Coronation Street proposal goes badly wrong as Carla Connor forced to call it off It comes as the actor previously addressed 2024 being his worst year in the entertainment industry. Speaking on The Nolan Show, Charlie said: "2024 is the most unsuccessful year I've had in 44 years. "And there are a lot of issues to do with that. "I've got lots of white hair, I'm 64 and there are less parts around. "I work for GB News at the moment and I've got to renegotiate that contract next year and my wife Debbie runs a women's refuge. "I'm in the living room with my shooting gear on because I'm a field sportsman and because I can't have the heat on all day and it's Baltic over here. "Have you looked at your bills? "You have lean times, I mean last year the heat was on all the time in the winter, this year it will not be." Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
