Lamine Yamal says Barcelona is the ‘club of his life' after becoming new No 10
Barcelona have announced that Yamal, who turned 18 on Sunday, will now don the iconic No 10 shirt, which was recently vacated by Ansu Fati, who joined Monaco on loan last month.
This comes after the winger signed a new six-year deal with La Liga champions in May, a contract that will see him stay at Barcelona until 2031.
The Spain international spoke on his happiness at the new shirt number, and paid respect to Lionel Messi, who wore the number between 2008 and 2021.

Speaking at the press conference for the unveiling of his new number, Yamal said: 'What this new contract means is that I'll keep playing in the club of my life. I'm enjoying myself. I don't have any pressure. We are all happy. It's time to enjoy with a different number but the same goal.'
'This is a big step, the start of a road which I hope can be long and full of victories. I want to enjoy next season more than the previous one.

'Messi did his own path, I'll do mine. Now it goes from Ansu to Lamine. I'll work at my maximum, giving everything to make the Culers happy.
'If (criticism and praise) does not come from my family, friends, or people I care about, it makes no difference to me. I can't feel too up with praise nor too down when I'm criticized. Now it's time to focus on football and enjoy it.'
Since making his Barcelona debut in 2023 wearing the number 41, Yamal has since worn the numbers 27 and 19.
The teenager revealed that his Barcelona teammates congratulated him on inheriting the same shirt worn by the likes of Messi, Ronaldinho, and Diego Maradona, as well as the reason why the announcement was delayed.
'This day was postponed after I asked for it because of my grandmother,' he said. 'She was in Morocco some weeks ago and I wanted her to be here in such a special moment.
'I always have to thank her for everything she's done for me, although I'll never be able to pay her back as she deserves to.'

Inter Milan Coach Cristian Chivu Hoping To Follow In Conte & Allegri's Footsteps With Serie A Title In First Season With Top Job
Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Antonio Conte and Max Allegri by winning the Serie A title in his first season in a top job. This is highlighted by Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews. Cristian Chivu is still a very inexperienced coach. At least at the senior level. The Romanian has no shortage of experience as a player. And he also worked his way up the youth team ranks at Inter. However, Chivu has coached a grand total of just thirteen matches at senior level. All of these came at Parma last season. Therefore, Inter are taking a gamble that the 44-year-old will be able to seamlessly make the step up to one of the biggest jobs in Serie A. Chivu Hoping To Follow In Serie A Title-Winning Footsteps Of Conte & Allegri SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 21: Cristian Chivu, Head Coach of FC Internazionale Milano, reacts during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group E match between FC Internazionale Milano and Urawa Red Diamonds at Lumen Field on June 21, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) There are a couple of examples of coaches who managed to defy their doubters by going all the way in Serie A in their first big jobs in the division, though. One is Antonio Conte. Like Chivu, Conte had won plenty as a player, but done relatively little to prove himself when Juventus took a chance on him in 2011. But that did not stop Conte from winning the Serie A title in his very first season as Bianconeri coach. Conte stepped down as Juventus coach in 2014 after three consecutive Serie A title wins, and Max Allegri replaced him. And Allegri would guide the Old Lady to five more titles. Prior to his time in Turin, though, Allegri had also enjoyed a lot of success with AC Milan. In fact, the Rossoneri won the title right away after Allegri had taken over. He repaid their faith in him after a series of smaller jobs in Serie A. Now, Conte and Allegri are in charge of Napoli and AC Milan respectively. Undoubtedly two of the teams that will be among Inter's biggest rivals for the title next season. And having such experienced, proven coaches could be major assets for both Napoli and Milan. But Inter will be hoping that Chivu can prevail against the veteran coaches, and remind them of something they'd once proved themselves – that experience is not a prerequisite for winning trophies.
