Passenger discovers mobile phone flight hack but people spot one major problem

Daily Mirror23-07-2025
A Tiktokker revealed 'old school' travel item can be your solution for a quick flight hack; which saves you from cramps but Tiktok viewers seem to have their own thoughts on the hack
We've all been there - you're on a flight, you want to watch something on your phone, but there's nowhere to put it without either cramping your neck or holding it for hours. But one Tiktokker @Chlowfaraway has revealed a simple travel hack, which solves the issue.

While the hack drew many views in, viewers were quick to point out a glaring issue. In the viral clip a passenger is seen slipping their printed boarding pass into the latch of the seat-back tray table. This creates a makeshift holder where you can rest your phone for hands-free viewing and the hack racked up over a half a million likes and plenty of praise for the awkward mid-air juggle.

But while the idea was clever, many in the comments section weren't impressed and not because of the hack itself. Instead, people were surprised that the passenger even had a printed boarding pass to begin with.
One viewer said: "Who prints their boarding passes? Jesus." Another chimed in: "Travel hack: you can get your ticket on your phone since like 10 years ago."

But not everyone had this mindset and defended the old-school approach, with one saying: "I love the physical ticket! Y'all are so weird acting like it's so outdated bc it's just a different option lol."
And some simply pointed out that flying in certain countries or on international trips often still requires a paper pass, whether we like it or not.
Either way, the trick sparked debate about whether printed tickets are a thing of the past - but if you do still carry one, it looks like it can come in handy for more than just getting on the plane.

People left delighted after spotting a 'hidden' animal in Lidl's logo - but can YOU find it?

Lidl shoppers have expressed their delight after spotting an animal 'hiding' in the budget supermarket's distinctive logo. UK-based money blogger Ricky Willis, who goes by @skintdad on TikTok, posted a clip in which he displayed the sign and said: 'When you see it you can't unsee it. The Lidl sign is a dog playing the piano. It's like no way.' The brightly coloured sign is made up of a yellow circle outlined in red set within a blue square. Written in bold letters inside the circle is the German-born retailer's name. While the first 'L', the 'D' and the second 'L' of Lidl are in blue typeface and standing upright, the 'I', marked in red, slants towards the left, resting on the tail of the first 'L'. The dot of the 'I' sits above the slanting block letter. The logo reads 'Lidl', but in a clip with over 2.1 million views, the social media user shared an alternative, much more creative interpretation, and now fellow TikTok users are claiming they can't 'unsee it'. Many TikTokers were tickled by Ricky's novel explanation of the logo, with one person writing: 'When you see it, you can't unsee it. The red letter is a slanted "I" touching a straight letter "L". There is no way!' Another person commented: 'Omg, yeah, I'm never going to be able to unsee it now'. While a third jokingly quipped: 'It's just a Lidl dog'. A fourth user said: 'It took me a while to spot it. It's the "I" beside the "L". I never noticed that before.' Yet a fifth person wasn't completely convinced, admitting: 'I can see it but [can] also unsee it. It's not that obvious'. It appeared that a sixth was left completely in the dark. They said: 'You have to guide me through that because I can't see it'. And, someone else had a unique interpretation of their own. They wrote: 'It's a chair, balancing a ball'. It comes after a different discount supermarket, Aldi, celebrated the long anticipated Oasis comeback with a very special tribute to the Britpop band - and it's sure to catch the attention of devoted fans. Tapping into the musicians' northern roots, Aldi has rebranded one of its locations in Manchester to be pronounced with the distinctive Mancunian accent Noel and Liam Gallagher are known and loved for. The store - now labelled as 'Aldeh' to signal a phonetic change - is sure to delight shoppers in the Bury New Road store in Prestwich, where many likely stopped by ahead of the group's concert in nearby Heaton Park, which took place from 11th to 20th of July. The ongoing UK performances have come after years of reunion rumours, which were repeatedly squashed by the notoriously feuding musicians. Oasis kicked off their reunion gigs on 4th July, and played in their home city at Heaton Park from 11th –20th July. 'Manchester is a vibrant city with a rich musical history, and with the Oasis reunion, we wanted to mark the occasion,' said Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK. 'By temporarily renaming our Bury New Road store to "Aldeh", we're celebrating both the local dialect and the legendary band that has brought so much joy to fans worldwide.' As part of the Oasis celebrations, the supermarket also launched a new range of Aldimania Bucket Hats (£4.99), which went on sale in stores nationwide from 3rd July, while stocks last. The brothers reunited last month on stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium - in their first gig in 15 years. Their tour will feature stadium shows across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, South Korea and North, Central and South America, where it will conclude with a show at São Paulo's Estádio do Morumbi on November 23. The brothers have enlisted new bandmates for the tour, with drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs on board. A source told The Mirror ahead of their first tour date in July: 'With a new lineup and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. 'Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again- but there is no time for that, and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. TikTok users were largely convinced by Ricky's interpretation of the Lidl logo - and took to the comment section to say so 'This is such a huge comeback show, and they are taking it very seriously, it all points to it being an incredible comeback tour.' On social media, supporters reacted to hearing rehearsals for the Gallagher brothers' gig kicking off in Wales. One fan shared a clip saying: 'Hello, so it is Monday, the gig is this weekend and you can probably hear it behind me already - the sound check is happening. 'I'm not sure what song it is but it definitely sounds like Oasis. There was just instruments earlier but now there is vocals so they seem to be in Cardiff already. Which is very early for a sound check. ' Meanwhile, sharing other clips, people said: 'Oasis soundcheck in Cardiff just now, @liamgallagher sounding biblical,'; 'THEY'RE IN THERE!!! @liamgallagher and @oasis are testing @principalitysta speakers in Cardiff and they are LOUD,'; 'Oasis soundcheck Cardiff sounds wicked,'; 'Oasis sound checking in Cardiff ohhhh my god.'

Tourists book 'hotel' for Italian holiday but arrive to something totally different

Matt Hey was excited to spend a few days of his European holiday relaxing at a resort in Sorrento, but he was in for a big surprise when he arrived at the accommodation A tourist was left baffled after arriving at what he believed was a luxury resort in Sorrento, Italy, only to find that his party were the only guests there. Matt Hey, from Sydney, Australia, had been travelling across Europe for four weeks, living in cheap accommodation in cities like London, Rome and Pisa to make the most of the experience travellling with friends. ‌ However, the party then decided to splash out on their next accommodation. As they were heading towards the Italian coastal town Sorrento, they decided to book in to what they believed was a luxurious resort by the sea. ‌ However, they soon realised their mishap when they arrived at their holiday destination. Taking to TikTok, Matt was seen recounting the moment they realised their "hotel resort" ended up coming with a lot more than they'd expected. ‌ "I'm just baffled, I'm honestly baffled," Matt said at the start of the video as he looked out over the view of the nearby sea. "This is bizarre." "So we got here, we walk through the gates up there," Matt said pointing to the gates in question. "We walk down here because Google Maps just said it was at the end there. We walk all the way down here and I'm saying 'wow, isn't this nice and peaceful and quiet.'" He went onto say he started to think it was weird that they hadn't seen another person on the premises. As they get to the main building, he goes onto explain that he first thought it looked like someone's house before assuming it's the reception area where they could check in, or possibly one of the rooms. ‌ "Anyway, so then I'm like, let's go around looking this way and we'll have a look," he said before the video cut to them arriving at a different area. "And we get down here and this is what I see." Warning: Below video may contain offensive language ‌ He went onto show a big patio with a view of the sea. There were also some tables and chairs to sit down at, but again not a single other person could be seen. He then turned the camera once again towards the house, which has a balcony with a big glass door on the first floor. "There's like a little wedding reception area sort of thing," he said before turning the camera to a different door of the house with white curtains hanging from it. They then walked closer to the end of the patio, which showed that the "hotel" was located right on a cliff which looked down onto the bright blue water, with a beach right below them. ‌ "Looks amazing, right? So I'm thinking, 'why haven't I seen anyone yet?'" he questioned, before revealing that a woman suddenly walked up to them asking if they needed help. Matt went onto say that he'd told the woman that they were in the wrong place, but said they were looking to check in to their room, to which she replied she'd call the concierge. They then continued to explore the area, finding another area that looked like a "wedding dance floor" according to Matt, who said he believed there must be smaller villas for them to stay in. The concierge then met them, and they proceeded to do the check in at one of the sitting areas by the dancefloor, before he handed them the key. He then took them to the house, which also looked like it'd been decorated for a wedding. ‌ "And to be clear, we thought we were getting a hotel," he said. "Don't get me know, I'm not complaining, we're going to have a beautiful time here. But we didn't need an entire wedding venue. I'm rattled, actually. Like, genuinely rattled." In the caption of the video, Matt revealed that they'd paid $600AUD (£292) per night to stay at Villa Antiche Mura Relais in Sorrento, which describes themselves as "villas for weddings" on their website. Taking to the comments, people were shocked when they realised just how much they'd gotten for their money. But some were also baffled as to how they'd managed to make this "mistake." "Is this Sorrento?? How is this 600 dollars?????" one baffled person asked. Another suggested: "Invite some locals round for a party not like you don't have set-up haha." "Send the details I've found my wedding venue," a third viewer said. Another person shared: "I got married in Tuscany because we got the wedding plus a full week's accommodations for 30 people for less than we would have paid for a single-day sit-down dinner wedding for 150 people at a major US city."
