The trial heard that Tuitt sliced open the victim's stomach with the zombie knife and that four of the five stab injuries he inflicted were life-threatening.There was no evidence to suggest that the victim and the defendant knew each other, the prosecution said.The attack had occurred in daylight on a summer's evening in Canal Way, off Ladbroke Grove, and was witnessed by a police officer who had noticed the defendant appearing agitated and having an argument with another man.The officer then saw the defendant reach into his waistband and "plunge his knife towards a group of people".Tuitt ran off and tried to dispose of the weapon by throwing it on the ground, but it was recovered by police.After spending a month in hospital the victim was able to make a statement to police.Mr Spooner said that he remembered towards the end of Carnival he had seen people around him fighting and throwing punches, before he was hit in the back.He then looked down to see that his intestines were hanging out and had to put his hand over them and run away.
'Harm and distress'
At the sentence hearing, prosecutor Mark Paltenghi said the defendant had also been arrested for possession of a knife at Notting Hill Carnival in 2023.On that occasion Tuitt had become involved in an argument with a member of the public who was walking his dog and had produced a large Rambo knife and "swung it back and forth", but had been detained by police officers.He was convicted for that offence in June last year and given a community order which was still in place when the attempted murder occurred, the court heard.In mitigation Tuitt's barrister, Sheryl Nwosu, said the defendant was "genuinely sorry for the hurt, the harm and the distress he has caused".The defendant had been attending Carnival with relatives and friends and had the knife "defensively", she said.Tuitt, of Sutherland Road, Walthamstow, was given a concurrent sentence of one year for possession of a bladed article.

A MAN and a woman have been arrested by police after a toddler was airlifted to hospital. The one-year-old was seen by residents being carried out of a property in Newport, Isle of Wight and into an ambulance at around 11.30am on Saturday. 1 A man, 31, and a woman, 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries until November 1. Some witnesses said the child was "limp" as paramedics carried it out the property. The victim was then rushed to Southampton General Hospital. The condition of the child is unknown. A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We were called at 11.34am on Friday, August 1 to a report of a child being taken to hospital with serious injuries. "Police attended an address in Newport, to carry out enquiries in relation to this investigation. "A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Newport, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. "They have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries until November 1." Inspector Oly Greenhowe added: "This is understandably a troubling incident for the community, and we want to reassure residents that a dedicated team of officers is actively working to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened. "While we carry out those enquiries, we are urging people to stop speculating online about this case. "Speculation and the spread of rumours are not only unhelpful, but they can actively hinder the progress of our investigation. "If people have relevant information on this incident, then they should contact the police directly."

Oasis ‘shocked and saddened' after fan dies in fall at Wembley concert
Oasis have said they are 'shocked and saddened' after a man fell to his death at Wembley Stadium during the band's Saturday concert. The man was understood to be sitting in the upper tier of the 90,000-seat stadium – the highest stands of which are 50 metres above the ground – as the Gallagher brothers performed as part of their reunion tour. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan police said that at about 10.19pm on Saturday, officers on duty at Wembley for the Oasis concert responded to reports that a person had been injured. 'A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene,' the spokesperson said. 'The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.' The Met has asked that if anyone has any information that could help to confirm what happened, they should contact the force. In a statement, Oasis said: 'We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.' One fan, who was sitting in a lower tier, said on social media that she had witnessed paramedics trying to revive the man. 'I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see,' she wrote. A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: 'Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London ambulance service and the police attended to a concertgoer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. Seven people have now been charged following the shocking scenes in Newport, South Wales, on Friday as horrified residents looked on. 4 4 4 Gwent Police were called to Commerical Road after the group of men were seen brawling in the street on Friday afternoon. Videos circulating online showed the thugs with what looked like metal poles fighting in the street outside a kebab shop. Some of the men involved were seen with bloodied faces and arms during the horrific violence. Footage shows the group clashing with the weapons as cars blared their horns trying to move past the confrontation. The men can be heard screaming at each other and attempting to land blows. Gwent Police said six men, aged 25, 28, 33, 40, 42 and 52, and one 17-year-old boy, who are all from Newport, have been charged with violent disorder. The six men will be remanded into custody while the 17 -year-old boy has been released on police bail. All seven are due to appear at Newport Magistrates Court on Monday, August 4. An eight person, a 40-year old man from Newport, has also been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and is currently in police custody. Four of the men attended hospital and two were later discharged while two others remained in hospital receiving treatment on Saturday. Around six police cars with flashing lights surrounded the area along with at least two police vans. More than half a dozen officers raced to the scene and cordoned off the area helping to redirect residents. Manhunt Launched in Northampton: River Nene Murder Investigation Underway Police were gathering evidence at the scene to investigate and officers said their enquiries are ongoing. Commerical Road has since reopened but anyone who was in the area between 3pm and 4pm on Friday, August 1 is urged to contact the police.
